IPod used as a second harddrive

I started using my brother's old ipod as a second Hard Drive for my commputer, but the screen was broken on it, but it still worked, i put ALL of my music, 2500 songs, on it...and now for seom reason there are problems and the disk utility isnt working or fixing what it says needs to be fixed...what do i do?

Some people on this fora have mentioned before that some third party utilities (e.g. DiskWarrior) can repair errors that Disk Utility can't. It sounds to me like you need to give it a try and stop using the iPod as the only mean of backup, I mean, maybe the hit that broke the screen made something to the harddisk. Good Luck

    I have a new iPod Touch and one apple ID. I want to use My laptop aswell as my desktop computer for the one ipod, using the same apple ID. I have music on both computers and want to merge the two without losing any music or apps. How do I do this?
    My iPod has music and apps from my apple ID that I downloaded to my iPod via iCloud and some apps that I got free from the store, straight onto my iPod, but my laptop has some music on it aswell, separate from my other library. I want to put the music from my laptop into my iTunes library which I want to use on both computers. Is it possible to do this?
    Thanks.

    - You can only sync an iPod to one iTunes library/computer. You can however, manually manage music and videos among different libraries.
    Go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.
    - If y wnat to switch syncing libraries/computer see:
    go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.

    If all the synced media like music is in the iTunes library of the second computer it is very easy.

  • Can I sync my ipod nano with my second computer/ netbook while travelling?

    Looking for some advice on how to connect my IPod nano with my second computer while travelling. That's what happened: I have my iTunes library on my computer at home and can sync my IPod nano (6 th generation, replaced onyl recently) with that library. While I was travelling and wanted to use my IPod I received an error message asking me to connect the IPod with iTunes in order to recover/restore (sorry, the message apeared in German, so I do not know the exact wording in English) . As I only had my second computer - a small netbook - with me, I downloaded iTunes and connected the iPod - only to receive the message that this Ipod would sync with another computer (sure!) and would I want to sync it with this iTunes library instead now? (Of course not, I did not dare because that library was empty!). So there I was with my computer with iTunes library at home and an iPod stuck in recovery mode and not doing a thing during my vacation. Any suggestions? If I have to take my great big workstation with me to get the iPod running again, I might just as well leave the iPod immobile at home. (;-)

    On your home computer connect your Nano, click on the name in iTunes, move right to the Summary tab then tick the box that says Manually Manage Music. You will now have to er, manually drag your music to your iPod, and manually eject it when done, but you will be able to add music from two different computers.

  • Updating my iPod mini from a second PC

    I want to update my iPod mini from a second PC. When I start to do so I get a message that my iPod is linked to another iTunes music library and am asked: Do you want to change the link and replace all existing songs with those from this (the second) library?
    Of course, I don't want to so I'm stuck and unable to update unless I'm willing to lose what's already on my iPod. Is there a workaround? Any advice much appreciated.

    Click 'no' to this message, then select iPod options by right clicking on the iPod in the source window and change the transfer method to manual.
    This is how you will have to keep it whilst you are using more than one computer to update your iPod.

  • My iPod used to always connect to the WiFi at home but now it doesn't. What can I do?

    My iPod used to always connect to the internet at home but now it does not. What can I do?

    Try the following:
    Restart your WiFi router by removing power to it for 30 seconds.
    On your iPod Touch use Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings.
    If this does not work test your iPod on some other networks, e.g., Starbucks, etc. If it doesn't work there it may have developed a hardware problem.

    My ipod uses al of its battery in an hour or less! what do i do?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Likely a bad/failing battery

  • Second Harddrive

    I am wanting to ad a second harddrive to my Dual 1.8 G5, butI do not what to buy as far as the connections.
    What do these computers use, ATA/100, SATA-150, SATA-300?
    Thanks
    charles

    Well - the simple answer is SATA-150 - see Storage at the bottom of the page here
    http://support.apple.com/specs/powermac/PowerMac_G5_June2004.html
    Expect you know that the connectors for a second HD are already installed in the G5, tucked in front of the lower drive bay B. The position of the spare guide screws for the drive - in a vertical row in the grey plastic drive bay fan bracket - is shown in Figure 7 of the drive installation instructions

    Look this article over, the key is to connect either mini display port or thunderbolt and using CMD+F2, let me know if this helps or if it doesn't work out. I'll find another solution if this doesn't work Joel ^_^

  • So how long does it take to load a 160GB iPod using the Convert Higher ...

    I have a 160GB Gen 5 that I bought when first released back in the day when they were $400. Through a number of changes, the most recent being the advent of the Convert Higher Bitrate Songs to 128bit AAC feature, I decided to look at what more music I could store. After all was said and done, I ended up with a bit of a disaster with cover art not being properly applied to the music being played. I decided to *restore the ipod* based on suggestions in the discussion boards, and equally important was following the hints and tips here.
    http://www.samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp
    The advice is especially important in very large library situations to ensure you have uniqueness in the albums you want to display. Hadn't really given it much thought until I had the ability to see the individual albums for the 40K songs on the iPod via the cover art view.
    Finally the point of the post...
    *So how long does it take to load a 160GB iPod using the Convert Higher Bitrate option now available in iTunes 9.1?* The specs on my computer are not highend by any stretch, but it's no slouch, and neither of the CPUs are ever pegged. At this point I've lost count of how much time it's taken, but the load is going on 3-4 days. With some breaks in between because I need to check each incremental load to verify there is no cover art corruption, correct bad tags and such, but for the most part the loading is visibly slow, and I'm sure the conversion is the cause. I'm not really complaining at this point, but there is clearly room for improvement. And of course unless there is a redo involved in which case I will get quite cranky.
    *I would like to hear the experiences of others.*
    Finally to lend a bit more credence to the performance concern, my 32GB iPhone 3GS for only about say 28GB of music takes about 24 hrs to load from a 2.2GHz dual core intel laptop, again using the convert higher bitrate option.

    With AC power adapter it takes 3-4 hours for a full charge. With the USB charger it takes 9-0 hours for a full charge. I am not happy with them removing the AC charger and other accessoreis at all. It's business but it still stinks.
    I know I would rethink my purchase but would most likely end up buying the Micro anyway

  • How can i use minutes and seconds in my job interval

    Sir,
    I want to use minutes and seconds in my job interval.
    suppose i want to run my job on 1:15:10 AM what will be the syntax. my code is below.
    Declare
    jobno number;
    BEGIN
    DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT(jobno,'DEL_DEPT;',trunc(SYSDATE + 1) + (1/24),'trunc(SYSDATE + 1) + (1/24)');
    END;
    Thanks in advance.

    Declare
    jobno number;
    BEGIN
    DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT(jobno,'DEL_DEPT;','trunc(SYSDATE + 1) + 4510/86400','trunc(SYSDATE + 1) + 4510/86400');
    END;
    number of hours in a day = 24
    number of minutes in a day = (24 * 60) = 1440
    number of seconds in a day = (24 * 60 * 60) = 86400
    4510 is the number of seconds in 1 hour 15 minutes and 10 seconds.

  • How do I upload CDs from my PC to my ipod using the cloud?

    How do I upload CDs from my PC to my ipod using the cloud?

    The iTUnes sync syncs the contents of a folder you choose. ANd it handles only one folder at a time.
    What I did to keep things straight, was to make a separate folder inside the 'my photos' part of my computer. Then put in that folder copies of things I wanted on my iPad. I could then add/remove from that folder as the mood struck and since everything in there was a copy I wouldn't lose any. (you would add/remove from the folder, then do a sync to allow iTunes to update that folder on  your iPad to match the folder on your PC)
    Another way, to get away from maintaining a folder, if you don't have a ton of photos, just e-mail them to yourself, save them from that e-mail. Keep them on the iPad as long as you like, then you can delete them as you wish. Photos that are synced onto the iPad must be synced off (as in removed from that folder then a sync performed to remove them)
    E-mailing the photos to yourself gives you more flexibility in managing them on the iPad.

    Apple has really crappy NTFS read-only that does not always work. And it is probably a licensing issue.
    Paragon Software is constantly being updated and supported with their NTFS for Mac OS X - they also have an HFS+ driver for Windows that works - Apple's HFS+ read-only driver for Boot Camp / Windows does not.
    I keep seeing problems and lack of support for MacFUSE, that could change.
