Ipod uses power when yurned off and hold button

i hav 1st gen ipod nano, the ipod seems to hold a charge when on, yet if i turn it off and put the hold button on it uses power while off, also when i flick the hold button off the i pod turns straight back on and starts playing. Its out of warranty and ive reset it and restored it to factory settings any idea!!!!

and also it takes only a couple of hours for pwer to
drain when its off
Do you have any clock functions set (alarms, stop watch, timer) or calendar events? These can use up power... Restoring it might be a good idea after you first reset it:
Toggle hold switch, press and hold Menu and Select (center) buttons for at least 6 seconds.

  • Ipod loses power when turned off?

May be time for a new battery.

  • Battery drain even when iPod is off and hold button is on

The battery on my 20G click wheel is draining too fast.
If I do the battery test and let it run, it goes 12 hours fine. If I want to find certain songs or what-not, it drains the battery too quick. I know it does use more battery, but it's ridiculously to the point where clicking through to a few songs drains a quarter to half of the battery. I'm not leaving the backlight on, either.
Now, the battery seems to be running when the iPod is off and the hold button is set. The other day I charged it with the lock on, unplugged it, came back a day later and saw the charge was gone. Last night, I had half a charge when I turned it off, turned the hold on, and could hear a little noise through my headphones when I turned the hold on. Today, no charge.
Any ideas, or is my battery toast? I have already restored this iPod once, so I don't think it's a software problem.

    Hi @Saarthak_b,

  • My ibook loses battery power when turned off and unplugged

I have been puzzled by this since November 2006. I calibrated my battery twice as prescribed and still, as soon as i shut down my ibook and unplug it, it's battery charge goes down. Why is this? I'd greatly appreciate help. I'm a former pc user and none of my pc laptops have this problem. I just want to know why my battery loss power when unplugged and turned off. thanks in advance

Well you might want to try what they call "battery reconditioning" which is 7 simple steps listed below:
    1: Charge your iPod fully.
2: Use it till you cant trun it on anymore!
3: Then carge your iPod fully again.
4: Then Use it till you cant trun it on anymore!
5: One more time charge your iPod fully.
6: And then again Use it till you cant trun it on anymore!
7: Then one last time charge it fully again.
Reminder: it is best to let the battery die all of the way each time inbetween chages. for example if it has 60% battery life dont charge it use it till it is dead and then charge it up all the way!
*This should inturn maximise your battey life also!*

  • Ipod Nano, power will come off and on but otherwise is completely frozen,

    Please help!!
I have an ipod nano that is only 3 months old. It has been acting strange. When it first started the clicker wheel wouldn't work and I could reset the nano and it would be good for a single use only. After 2 weeks of that now the only thing it will do is cut on and off. Otherwise, it is completely frozen. I have done all of the things that apple support suggests short of having this chat. Reset doesn't help, I also downloaded all the updates, restarted computer and restored the nano. Still nothing.
    Thanks

If none of those troubleshooting steps helped, it needs service.

  • Offline sync using Cellular when switched off and connected to Wifi

Problem with Spotify or Apple iPhone6?? I have the sync over cellular switched off in Spotify, but just synced whilst connected to wifi supposedly based on the WiFi icon showing but it used about 1gb of my cellular data. Latest iPhone6 update applied but might not be the reason. Anyone else experiencing this???  I have had to buy more data so I don't get charged.

I have had the exact same problem. With syncing 2 albums over 200Mb (of 500mb) of my cellular data gone!
Wifi was on (and working with websites etc.), mobile data for Spotify in iOS settings was enabled, syncing in Spotify via 2g/3g disabled and offline mode in Spotify was turned off.
This was on iPhone 5c with iOS 8.1, Spotify version 1.9.0.2744
    Please help!

  • Why is my ipad still using battery power when switched off & locked away with no one using it?

Why is my IPad still discharging battery when switched off and locked away - with no one using it?  Charged it to 100% on holiday and locked in safe.  2 days later it was at 76%!

How is it "switched off"? Are you pressing the button on the top so the screen goes black? If so, that isn't shut off, but put to sleep. I will still be doing things in the background and using battery power.
To shut it fully off, press and hold the button on top, you will get a notification on the screen that says "Slide to power off". Slide the button and it will turn completly off.
If this is how you switched it off, let us know and we will see what else we can figure out.

Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and then restore via iTunes:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

my ipad mini does not restart when i press and hold the home and power buttons for a minute or more. what do i do? i really need to access some information on it. please help.

You need to connect to iTunes and restore.
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
You may need to put the device into recovery mode, this is covered in the link on this page.
Did you back up the device?

  • What does it mean if my ipod charges only when its off

ok my ipod charges only when its off , ex.i plug my charger in while its on but it doesnt charge at all, not even if i put it in the pc  usb ports. However wheni put the chargerr in the ipod and turn it off, then come back an hour later or so it is charged up.Anybody knows what does it mean when it does that.keep in mind the ipod doesnt charge whille its on.

It means that when your ipad is running with your charger connected, it is using about as much electrical energy as your charger is supplying to your battery.  When your ipad is shut down there are no apps or programs running so all of the charger's output is devoted to recharging the battery.  Your ipod battery may be running down a bit because of age, or you could possibly have too many apps running at the same time.  Running gamming applications uses quite a bit of power.  I'm making the assumption that your charger is functioning properly.  Also, charging via the USB port on your computer is not as efficient as using your wall charger since the charging current provided by the computer usb port is a bit less than the wall charger.  If you use an iPad wall charger it will provide more charging current and therefor would be more effective.

  • IPod nano 3rd gen turnes off and on by itself

I have a problem: my iPod nano 3rd generation turns off and on by itself every 5-7 seconds.
How can I solve this problem?

Is there a case around this iPod? It might be pushing on the touch wheel. Does it happen when you flick the lock switch? If so it seems like a restore is in order

  • Hello. I have a problem. I cannot delete any apps from my ipad. It won't even wiggle when i tap and hold on the icon. There's also no restrictions and passcodes in my settings. My photos on camera roll even get lost once i shut down my ipad. Please help.

The preinstalled apps, those that came as part of the iOS, cannot be deleted and will not shake or provide the black circle-X for deletion.
Others should do that if you touch and hold for a few seconds.
If they are not, do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.
