Ipod - using Mac for music & PC for podcasts

Hi, I have an ipod 30 - love it.
I'd like to use my mac for music updates and PC for podcasts.
WHY would I want to do this?
1. My mac is a G3 10.2.8 and it rejects the majority of video podcasts - my local mac shop says "yes, that is common."
2. I like having my music on the MAC as it is portable - the PC is a desktop. (plus the mac looks cool in the loungeroom.)
So I formatted my ipod for PC - uploaded all my PC podcasts (successfully) and then moved to my mac to get my music (successfully).
PROBLEM
When I go back to my PC to get Podcast updates, it asks if it can wipe all my music. i can't find the option to just update podcasts.
Any thoughts?

Surprise Surprise . It worked!
I simply re visited the same process (see above)
and it worked.
TIPS: When Windows asks to be the Music library, say NO - it will then up date your podcasts.
NOTE: when you update your music on the MAC, it will wipe your podcasts - simply return to the PC and upload podcasts.

Is it legal to use other peoples music in a Podcast that is for fee?? Im not sure how to go about this? I have DJ who will mix the music for me, but im not sure that it is legal?? Thanks any guidance would help

I am wanting to create music playlists for free via itunes in the form of a podcast of gym sort of music that can be used by people to listen to whilst working out. Can someone tell me if this is legal to use other peoples music, or songs and change them slightly so they blend into a continuous podcast?? thanks

Absolutely - 100% - NO!!!!!
You can not take any RIAA / big label music and use it in a podcast.
A Podcast is a download and downloads are looked at legally as a mechanical copy.
Just because you purchased a song - it does not give you any rights what so ever to use that in a podcast.
On top of that - you can not even get licenses for Podcasts to use the music. As the Soundexchange license used for streaming music does NOT cover downloads.
And even if you could get licenses - one of them is working with the Harry Fox agency - they cover mechanical copies - and it is $0.091 per download (copy) for each song. So if you have a mix of 10 songs in an episode - you would need to pay Harry Fox agency $0.91 per download.
The only music you can use in a podcast is music considered "Podsafe"

Can I use the same music file for two accounts to be able to set up two different iTunes accounts?

I would like to set up two different Itunes accounts on my mac. I would like to have different accounts for my wife and I so that our devices have different accounts/contacts/email and stuff but we would like to use the same music library. Can I set the different itunes to go to the same file to see music? Or could I copy the music file and give the copy to the second itunes account? I could set it up and authorize the music like for another user? Is any of this possible?

Try moving the entire iTunes Media folder to the Shared folder on your Mac and then in iTunes preferences, change the location of that folder to line it up. Then all you have to do in another user is follow the second set of steps to get that shared properly. Check out the article below for more detailed instructions.

Want to use .mac instead of .me for email on iPhone, can't

Hi all - I recently had to delete my mail account on my phone and set it up again. After doing so, emails sent from the phone are now sent from .me, even though I set it up as .mac. I've used this address for years and it is attached to people I do business with, so switching it now is not desirable.
Here's what I did. Deleted and reset up the account, being sure to use .mac (as that's all I use). On the iPhone, in Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> MobileMe, the account shows "[email protected] All seems clear. If I click in that, it shows Apple ID as "[email protected]" Again, good. Password is fine. However, below that, where it says Mail, it shows "[email protected]" If I then click on that to go one screen further, it shows my name and then in the address it shows "[email protected]" That, however, is grayed out and I cannot change it. Is there anyway to get this back? As it stands now, emails from home will come from .mac, but anything coming from my phone is .me. How can I get it back to sending from .mac?

How can I use ios internal music player for playing music?

I know how to play MP3s using Adobe Air, but I have no idea how can I possibly use the INTERNAL MUSIC PLAYER of iOS with Adobe Air? Is tha possible? Is there any native extentions for this purpose or some codes??

Actually I have no experience with Native extensions so far, even while I've developed some apps for Android and iOS using Adobe Flash CS6, that they happen all to have sound players as well.
The problem is, in my Apps (sample below) I have programmed the ability to let users Play / Pause / Stop (Navigate) the MP3s that will be downloaded from Internet based on their selection. as this player is NOT using the iOS native player, consequently, the main negative results are as follows:
- App does not catch downloaded mp3 files for offline use or if WIFI disconnected suddenly (unlike iOS player)
- in Lock screen, Users do not have access to the playback of sound.
- wireless FM transmitters or other kits used in cars, can not control the playback unlike iOS internal player.
Based on above discussion and your suggestion to use Native extentions, I just found this one:

Thanks for the question. You can transfer certain types of media from your iPod to a new iTunes library. These include music, movies and TV shows that were purchased from the iTunes Store. If you have music imported from a CD or other source, iTunes can’t transfer this media back to a computer:

Using MAC iTunes Music backup from iDisk on a Windows PC

My home computer is a Mac which is what I use to purchase all of my music through iTunes. I backup my music on iDisk. My work computer is a Windows PC. Can I use my music backup from iDisk on my Windows PC? It appears that the backup is a .dmg file, but I cannot open that file in Windows after I map my Windows PC to my iDisk. Any suggestions?

Set up headaches: two AX, one for music one for wireless internet

I hope someone can please help, have gone round and round with this, although I assyne it's easy for those in the know.
So I have one AX connected via ethernet to a modem. This is set up as a wireless network on my macbook - all good... although the connection is pretty lame given that the AX is just down the hall.
I have another AX in the room with the macbook, sitting next to the stereo. This is just for music (not a wireless/internet connenction). How do I set this up? I try to go to AP Utility, but it always wants to switch the network, so I know this ain't the right way.
I guess it has to do with connecting the second AX up to the first, but it's all so bloody technical (to me - ugh).

Yes that is correct. You would temporarily switch networks to connect to the 2nd AirPort Express (AX). Then configure that AX to join the wireless network provided by the other AX. Then you will only have one wireless network.

As Strontium90 indicates, yes, you can host via the provided Apache, and Apache supports so-called multiple virtual hosts.
Though some of the Apple pages indicate that no IT department is required, you will need an understanding of Apache and potentially (probably eventually) its configuration files, of setting up and troubleshooting IP networking and Network Address Translation (NAT) and port forwarding, and of setting up DNS. To serve these web sites and web pages publicly, you'll also need either a static IP connection from your ISP or minimally an account that does not block TCP port 80 (HTTP) and TCO port 443 (HTTPS) as some ISPs do block those from residential accounts, and you'll probably also want public DNS as folks don't like entering IP addresses. You'll also need enough network bandwidth for whatever you're doing, and a network gateway-firewall-router device that'll let you port-forward TCP 80 and TCP 443 through to your new server.

Your question is a bit vague - do you mind telling us which website, and what kind of error you're getting? Have you tried both Safari and Firefox? (If not, try them both, and report back.)

Game download - can't get it onto ipod using Mac

I recently downloaded a game for my Ipod from a website but cannot figure out how to get it on my ipod because the instructions are for a windows computer and I have a mac. the instructions ask me to go to my ipod drive so that i can drag the file in. I cannot figure out where it is. Itunes opens automatically but I assume you can access the ipod in another way so e.g. you can use it like a flash drive to transfer files that aren't music or video. Does anyone know how I can access the ipod in any way that isn't through i tunes. Thanks.

Synching IPOD to MAC does not copy my podcasts to my MAC. why?

I am trying to synch all my podcasts between my MAC and my IPOD. However a few podcasts will NOT be copied to my MAC but it goes the other way around instead. It copies Podcasts from MAC to my IPOD. I thought synching meant both devices have the same content which is not the case here.
