Ipod video 5.5g restart and restart

This morning i disconnected the ipod from my pc and it just started restarting. it only get to the apple boot logo and restart again so i cant open it in the pc.

I meant Reset to clear the problem, but if you can reset it, see if you can go one step further and put it into disk mode: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651 After doing this connect it to the computer and Restore it in iTunes.

  • How do I get songs from iPod(video) to iTunes(7 and using VISTA).

How do I get songs from iPod(video) to iTunes(i'm using iTunes7 and Vista).
I don't have the disc, cause i can't find it. But my computer downloaded the ipod, it just cant find the files?
i've been looking through the topics for the past hour and none of them helped. Maybe i'm stupid i dont really know, but i've restored my old computer a couple times and i found a post and it helped both times. now i can't find it anymore.
THIS IS THE ONE I'VE BEEN SEEING AND IT DOESN'T HELP ME ONE BIT:
Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    SharePod Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.
Can someone give me a link, or tell me one that shows step by step.

Here is a way of doing it, for another take on this, search the forum for posts by Zevoneer.
    Copy from iPod to PC
It is important not to allow your iPod to sync with an empty library. If it is set to synchronise automatically you will get a message saying your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to sync – it is important to press cancel as syncing with an empty library erases all music from your iPod.
You can also prevent auto sync by holding down shift & ctrl as you plug in your iPod and keeping the keys held down until the iPod appears in iTunes.
Once you are connected, you need to set your iPod to manage music manually.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61148
If you have an iPod with iTunes Store purchases on it, you can use it to copy your purchases to other authorized computers.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/7.3/en/2586win.html
However this is not allowed for other music.
This MacMuse tip tells you how to copy music from your iPod using Windows Explorer, but it is a bit fiddly:
    http://discussions.apple.com/messageview.jspa?messageID=797432
Otherwise you can use third party software to manage the transfer, there are a variety of programs out there, some free and some that will copy ratings and counts as well as the music files. Here is a selection, check them out and see what suits you.

So wouldyou recommend that I update? It was made for use with an att sim but was unlocked for use with a tmobile sim... I just so happen to have att. So the phone being locked for att wouldn't be a bother for me. I've just heard of people getting sim card read errors after updating, so I was wondering if I should even bother.

  • Windows and itunes not recognising my ipod video

I bought my ipod video 30gb last thursday and i managed to get it working and downloade my songs to it. Now it is not recommended by windows, itunes or the device manager

  • Do IPod Video and Windows XP HP Labtop go together?

I wanted to know if my HP Labtop can handle itunes. Last time my computer got really slow (laggy) and i had to reformat it. Its back to normal but im not sure if i can put itunes back on my laptop if its going to cause the same problem.
P.S. I dont want to waste my ipod video of 60 GB and i havent had it for a year yet.

Just tossing in my experience quickly:
Ever since I "upgraded" to v7 of iTunes, my iPod (60G w/Video) hasn't been recognized, same as Rebecca. Also my TransFlash memory cards aren't recognized, either. I went through many steps listed in these forums, to no avail; I even did a repair install of Windows. I have noticed in my Device Manager the following: a yellow exclamation point beside "parport" and "serial". (Right-click "My Computer" > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices) For both of these entries, under their properties, it says this: "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24)" I haven't found much info surfing the net as of yet... I hope this info helps a bit. Don't mean to hijack, here, either. But in my opinion the new iTunes upgrade corrupts the windows registry somehow, as this story of mine seems to be quite prevalent...

  • Ipod video "Skipping" on certain tracks

Can anybody help with this ?
When playing back a couple of tracks on my ipod video have been "jumping" and "skipping".
Could this be a serious problem ? I am worried the hard drive is damaged. Do you get damaged sectors on a ipod hard drive like on a comptuer hard drive ?
If anyone has any advice at all I would be really grateful,
    Thanks,
    Martin

Did you try the 'Five R's':
Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall , Restore
    Reset your iPod.
Retry with a different USB port.
Restart your computer and make sure you have the latest software updates installed.
Remove iTunes software and then reinstall iPod and iTunes software from latest versions on the web.
Restore your iPod. See “Updating and Restoring iPod Software” in the user's guide.

  • Ipod video crashes randomly...

I have a white ipod video 30 gb 5g and I would be playing a song when all of the sudden the screen freezes. The song keeps playing till the end but after that the next song doesnt play it would just freeze everything. Anyone know whats wrong? Every time this happens, I have to restart the ipod (menu+center) but this drains the battery so much..

Yes. I have restored it, restarted it, done everything I could think of and nothing. It seems as if its something else. I'm thinking that it could be the battery giving off different amounts of voltage but I don't know.

  • 30gb ipod video keeps on crashing

I just got my ipod video 3 days ago and I keep on having a problem where it will play a video for variable amounts of time and just all of the sudden crash. After this, when I push a button it will restart back up with the apple icon. I've read quite a few posts with people having the same problem but there hasn't been a good solution as of yet. I've tried firmware versions 1.1 and 1.1.1 with no success. I don't think that this is the same problem with a video playing for 30 seconds and then the video and audio stops. The ipod will also sometimes just crash when I'm using the menu or when I'm playing songs.
This has really been frustrating me. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • IPod Video 80 Gig won't mount on desktop or in iTunes

I just bought a new ipod video 80 gig. And a MacPro.
It worked great for about a week, and works when it is not connected to the computer, but when I connect it it just displays the "do not disconnect" screen and won't appear in itunes or in the finder.
despite resetting, re-installing itunes, I can't get it to mount on any computer.
Is this a Apple Store issue, or is anyone aware of a fix?

    Seen these?
iPod doesn't appear in iTunes or on the Mac desktop.
iPod does not appear in iPod Updater or iTunes in Mac OS X.
iPod appears on the Mac OS X desktop but not in iTunes.

  • ITunes - Connecting more than 1 IPod Video

If there are 2 IPod videos owned - a 30gb and 80gb, how can you prevent Ipod 30gb from updating with all the material in the ITunes Library Downloaded / Imported for IPod 80gb and vice versa? the owners have different music tastes and don't want the others music on their own IPod.

    Hi Trekker,
You can set preferences in iTunes to synchronise your iPods manually rather than automatically:
To set iTunes to let you manage music and video on iPod manually:
1 In iTunes, select iPod in the Source pane and click the Summary tab.
2 In the Options section, select “Manually manage music and video.”
    3 Click Apply.
Note: When you manage songs and video yourself, you must always eject iPod from
    iTunes before you disconnect it.
To add a song, video, or other item to iPod:
1 In the iTunes Source pane, click Music or another Library item.
2 Drag a song or other item to the iPod icon in the Source pane.
To remove a song, video, or other item from iPod:
1 In iTunes, select iPod in the Source pane.
2 Select a song or other item on iPod and press the Delete or Backspace key on your
    keyboard.
If you manually remove a song or other item from iPod, it is not deleted from your
    iTunes library.
To make a new playlist on iPod:
1 In iTunes, select iPod in the Source pane, and then click the Add button or choose
    File > New Playlist.
2 Type a name for the playlist.
3 Click an item, such as Music, in the Library list, and then drag songs or other items to
    the playlist.
To add songs to or remove songs from a playlist on iPod:
m Drag a song to a playlist on iPod to add the song. Select a song in a playlist and press the Delete key on your keyboard to delete the song.
I copied that from the manual - hope that helps!

  • IPod Video help please....

I'm trying to put videos onto my iPod video i just purchased, and am having alot of difficulty. Alot of my friends have iPod videos also and are trying to help, but no luck.
First off, when i open iTunes with the iPod connected everything works fine, i can open all music and videos and play them on iTunes just fine, i convert them to iPod and all is well while on computer. When i disconnect and try to watch the videos then all i get is the audio and a picture of what the video is. I place videos on the iPod manually by dropping them onto the iPod. When i try to adjust the iPod options menu, the VIDEOS tab is all greyed out (meaning nothing can be changed or selected). It almost seems like its not an iPod photo, any suggestions ??? I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and updating the iPod over and over, but no success...

In your ipod, go to videos, video settings, then make sure that "tv out" says off.

  • Burning iPod Videos to DVD for DVD Player

Just wondering if and or how it is possible to take an iPod video downloaded from iTunes and burn it as a video CD or DVD to play on my DVD player?
    Thanks.

The only way that i know of would require a video card with some sort of video out a video/audio capturing card and video editing software such as roxio videowave or equivelant, just hook up your video card and your audio out to your capture card and play the video fullscreen once the video is done create a dvd in you video editing software...however it is pointless to do this because the resolution of the video is to crappy to watch even on a 20" or higher television. in other words it will look like ****, even if you do capture it and write it to a dvd. all i can suggest is if you want something you can play on your home tv then buy the dvd itself, or you always rent the dvd and use dvd shrink to remove the css protection and then make a copy, but that's up to you.
