IPod Video Battery Wont completely Charge

I left my ipod hooked up for two days straight and its still charging. The battery is also staying red. What's worng?

Well I think that you should be using USB 2.0 not firewire iPod isn't supported on the computer so I don't think it should be suported by the wall adapter and if it is than I don't think it will give right information on charging.

  • Laptop wont completely charge

I have HP Compaq Presario C700 (Not sure what model since there are many of C700 up there) that  wont completely charge. When it reaches 59%, it stops charging and the charging light will turn off.  It also says 59% available (plugged in, not charging) on the taskbar.  This problem is happening with a new battery which  is 12 Cell.
    Things already done:
    1) Calibrating the battery(Discharging and charging it again).
    2) Updated Bios
    3) Uninstalling Microsoft ACPI -Compliant Control Method Battery ......
    scanning for hardware changes, restarting.....
    4) Returned the battery then got another NEW ONE which does the same thing.
Right now, I have no idea what to do. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks..

It is ok. Atleast you  offered help.

  • Battery wont stop charging

I got my ipod around 5 months ago, but recently the battery wont stop charging. i had my ipod plugged into the wall socket adaptor for around 10 hours, and when i checked it this morning, the charging icon was still filling up, showing that the battery was still not full. its hard to tell how much battery i have right now, casue the indicator is fluctuating between around 75% and 90%. anyone know whats going on? its a 4th gen. ipod mini, BTW.

  • I am unable to tell when the battery is completely charged.  I have showing the battery symbol with the bolt-this is present even when the device is not being charged.  And it is always showing 2% charge.

Are you using the AC wall charger?

What you do is hook the i pod to the front or back, i prefer the font and then have the head phone hooked to it then restart it and it should start to charge.

  • Is it too late to calibrate my iPod Video battery?

I know this is probably a silly post, but I've been reading about calibrating your iPod battery.
I got my iPod yesterday (Nov. 24) for my b-day, and I initially charged it for the four hours while it was updating my library, I then played a few music videos, an episode of LOST, and listened to some music, the battery did not drain and I put it on the charger last night.
Can I still calibrate the battery by letting it run out and then charging it?

The FAQ doesn't specifically cover that but I shouldn't think it's a problem, it says this about the first charge
Question: Do I need to "prime" my iPod's battery by letting it charge for 24 hours before I use it the first time?
Answer: No. Just charge the battery until the indicator says the battery is full.

  • 60GB iPod video battery issue?

My 60GB iPod video has an issue where as soon as I remove it from its charger (plugged into an outlet), it says it does not have enough power to keep running and it shuts down. It gives off a very faint smell like something was burning from the inside, but I wouldn't have noticed it if it I hadn't lifted it up and looked at it very closely. I've been charging it for about four days now, and occasionally I would pull it out to see if it was still having the same issue. Sure enough it was, and strangely, when I plugged it back in, all of the settings would be reset (namely the time would refer back to 12:00AM). All of my files are still there, but when I plugged it into the computer, it would give the little loading circle and say "Please wait. Very low batter." The computer reads the device but not even as a hard drive (which I set it too).
Maybe the battery needs to be replaced? How do I know I can salvage my iPod?
*Note: I haven't had the iPod for a while. It was a gift from a friend and it seems like it was pretty used to begin with. I'd give it about two to three years since it was bought. The warranty is WAY over by the way

Yeah, an iPod is basically a small computer, with a locked down OS. If you want, my company www.dr-pod.com can replace this for you quite cheaply.
    Thanks

  • 30GB iPod Video battery Issue?

I have noticed a problem with my 30GB iPod Video recently. I've had it for about 1 and a half years now with no problems until now.
I think the battery may be on its last legs as it seems to discharge a lot sooner than it used to (i.e. fully charged Monday, by Wednesday its displaying "very low bat warning" upon sync - and that's with hardly any use!). Even on the Apple Support site (here:http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60970) there's a page stating that it should take up to 2 weeks to discharge! This has happened the last 3 times i've synced and charged it!
Is this a sign that the battery is on its way to battery heaven (or ****)?

The symptoms do match a bad battery. Also, from what I've seen on the forum, a year-and-a-half is about normal (obviously depending on usage).

  • My ipod touch battery won't charge

My ipod was out of batteries, so I charged it, but no matter how long I left it for, it wouldn't get past the 20% battery line.

Take to an Apple store or Apple certified repair shop. When a battery won't charged, it's time to replace it.

  • Ipod video sold without firewire/charger?

have just purchased an ipod video from the new apple center in amman, jordan - am surprised to find it sold without firewire or charger!! bought an ipod mini two years ago with these accessories included
has the policy changed since then?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
New iPods no longer come with chargers.
Also, the 5th generation iPod is not capable of syncing over FireWire, though it can charge through a FireWire cable.

  • IPod Photo battery life & re-charging

I bought a 60GB iPod Photo solely to upload photos from my digital camera on an overseas trip. When transferring photos I can see the green battery symbol drain in front of my eyes! Then it takes 12-15 hours to recharge, making it useless in time for the next day's batch. Is this normal? What can be done? I understand Apple's advice is that re-charging should take 5-6 hours.

  • IPod video Battery Life

    Hi all
I was wondering what sort of battary life i should be expecting from an ipod video when used to watch a film - i understand that this will drain the power fast, but it does seem to go down very fast almost to the point weres there is no point using the video function without being pugged into the mains.

you should expect i think its 6.5 hours of battery life, but ive found that the brightness drains the power while watching video

  • Apple Support: Distressing under performance on simple questions: new iPod Shuffle battery never gets charged.

New in the mail the other day:  iPod Shuffle.  Works great, except it has never indicated that the battery is charged (orange lamp continuously blinks.)  Should I send it back?  Simple enough question right?
So I go to the Support site, enter a ticke with my Apple ID and the S/N of my new device, express via choosers that it's a battery issue ... but there is no ability to even say what I did above just now.
Of the support alternatvies, I schedule a call.  The phone call came over 30 minutes later than was scheduled.   And then!  The operator didn't have the information that I'd taken time to enter in to the webforms -- critically, the S/N, etc.  I expressed a bit of frustration, we ended the call after I'd recited as much as she could take notes for.  Later I get an email from her (bless her spirit!) ... with all of the links I read BEFORE going to effort of filling the support documents out and scheduling the call.
I'm really wierded out by this.  APPLE COMPUTER -- THIS IS BABY FOOD BASIC CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT!
So, do I send the little stinker back or just live with having purchased a defective device from a company incapable of supporting it?!!!!

I don't think it is defective.  The light will ALWAYS blink orange when connected to iTunes, if the shuffle is set to Manually manage music (or Enable disk use).  You can check the setting on the shuffle's Summary screen in iTunes.
Blinking light - This means DO NOT DISCONNECT.  Eject shuffle before disconnecting.
Solid light - This means OK TO DISCONNECT.
A solid green light does mean battery is fully charged, but it will never blink green.  There is an eject button next to the shuffle in iTunes.  When you eject the shuffle and leave it connected to the computer, you should see the light become solid green (if the battery is fully charged).

  • Ipod Video 30g wont turn on, any help why please?

So I have found this old ipod video I must have got when it first came out. It has been a while since it has been used, and it may be heavily damaged, I am not sure. But when I press any button it remains on the Apple loading screen, as in the dark background with a dimly lit apple logo. This ipod is way past any warranty, and I am trying to do a self repair to save some money. I already tried charging it no luck. I connected it to the computer and my computer never recognized it, I reset it (menu and select) no luck, put it in disc mode (pause/play and select) no luck. But the screen stays on at the Apple logo. Can anybody tell me how I can fix this problem or what is the cause of it. Thank you very much.
PS I am from Chicago so if anyone knows of any places that can help me for cheap let me know.

actually i tryed doing the thing where u hold put the usb cord into the ipod while holding the home button and i tryed to restore it and it came up with in error that said that its not eligible for the requested build. i dont have the newest version of itunes on my mac and i heard u need the newest version to get the newest software for the ipod touch and it said restore and UPDATE in the beginning so maybe thats the problem? idk plzzz someone help me!!
my last post has already been resolved so dont bother with that.

  • Ipod video 30gb wont power up keep rebooting

hi i have a big problem when i power up my ipod video it shows the apple symbol the backlight lights up and then it turns itself off again and then tries to power up again and then off, does anybody know why this is happening and can ne body help me pls

My first suggestion would be to get some type of desiccant drying material, like those little packets that come in electronics that say "Do Not Eat" on them. You might try a local craft store which may sell this stuff for use in drying flowers. You can also try dry rice. In either case, take the iPod and toss it into a zip lock bag with the desiccant and leave it there for a while to see if you can suck any remain moisture out of the iPod.
If after days in the bag drying you still get the Sad faced icon...
