Ipod video cant recognize =(

Hi, some time ago i had some problem with 2 virus prorams clashing into each other and i had to get it fixed, every since that happened i have not been able to use my ipod. I plug it in and all it coems out is "do not disconectIpod" and it begins to charge itself through the pc. Also my computer comes and gives me option to disconect it safely, so i asssume that this means the computer recognizes it. i tried using ipod updater but that doesnt see the ipod connected either and i tried the help pages concerning faullty usb. i tried almost all and i can not seem to fix this problem. =( please help me as soon as possible thanks

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I think in this situation, I think you need to try assigning your iPod a different drive letter (if it's recognized by "My Computer").
1 - Don’t plug in your iPod yet.
2 - Go to "START -> Control Panel -> Admin Tools (if you don't see this, click on "classic view" button on the left panel) -> Computer Management."
3 - Click on the "Disk Management" button in the left panel area.
4 - Now, with "Computer Management" and Control Panel windows opened, reset your iPod, and connect it.
5 - Right-click on your iPod's listing there (after a few moments when it gets recognized in this drive window), and click on "Change Drive letter and Paths". Then the "Change..." button.
Here's what it should look like:
Assign your iPod the letter "M" "N", "O" or the like (further along in the alphabet).

If your iPod isn't recognized by "My Computer", then you won't be able to do this. Post back if you can sucessfully do this or not.

A while ago my computers hard drive was cleared and this cleared my itunes library. Now i still have my music library on my ipod but i cant put new music or video on it because my computer thinks my ipod is registered to another computer. Ipod video wont recognize videos!!

so on itunes 7 there isint a music video category, so i put them in the music video playlist, but when i plug my ipod in they dont show up anywhere on my ipod!! can someone please help me ive had this problem for over a month and cant figure it out. FYI all the vids are in the mp4 format.

First check to see if this i even necessary with the latest upgrade. If this is a file you created, it will normally show up in the "Movie" category is drop/added to library which is operating in the "auto-sync" mode. If you are running in the "manual" mode, then II'm not sure if it is placed elsewhere. In any case, once you've found the file, highlight it and open the "Get Info" window. Under the "Video" tab, look for the "Video Kind" pop-up. Check there to see if "Music Video" option is already available.
If yes, select it. On mine, when I select this option and press "OK," the file is automatically movie to the Music Library area. Would normally expect this to be an application preset, but if it isn't, use "Lostify" (Mac metadata utility) or a similar PC utility to assign this designation to the file in question. In the case of Lostify, simply "drag 'n drop" the file to the utility's desktop icon. When the window opens, it will contain a "Video Kind" pop-up which does contain the "Music Video" option.
Once the file has been updated and in iTunes Library, sync it to your iPod in whatever sync mode you are using. Now the file should appear in both the Music area and in the Video > Music Video areas of your iPod. If played from the Music Menu, it will play audio only. If played from the Video > Music Video Menu, it will play both audio and video content.

I have an iPod video (30GB) and i tried to put videos on it but it didnt work until apple brought out an update on iTunes to convert the videos for you which i used and converted the videos and there on my iPod and i can watch them but i cant hear anything when i play them!! I can hear my normal music fine and i can see the videos but i cant hear them!! Please help!!

Quicktime, Quicktime Pro and iTunes don't convert "muxed" (multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.

You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
Search this forum for recommendations, but beware of spammers trying to sell you their own product.

Laptop wont recognize my 80g Ipod Video

I purchased a new laptop recently running Windows Vista. I immediately downloaded The latest version of iTunes. I have no problems purchasing or importing music. when I attach my 80g Ipod video to a usb port on my laptop, iTunes doesnt recognize that the Ipod is even connected. I had no problems before when I synced my Ipod. Please help.

Your source video file is probably muxed.
Neither QT Pro or iTunes has the ability to successfully encode a muxed video file with audio. You'll end up with video and no audio.
See: iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files.
You'll need to use some other third-party software to do the conversion. There's a handful of software available. Just search the forums and you'll find many titles mentioned.
Try MPEG Streamclip.

Computer cant recognize my ipod

heres the problem, first i use a pc with xp home edition
i use two ipods on my computer my first generation and my brothers fourth generation, while i was updating my brothers ipod i tried to safely remove it by clicking the safe to remove button but it didnt work so when it still said do not disconnect i disconnected it now that ipod wasnt able to get the the main menu it had that sad ipod and file icons i seemed to fix that i dont no how i was just messing around with it but now my computer cant seem to recognize either of my ipods, it doesnt open itunes like it should, theres no new hard drives in my computer and no safe to remove ipod button near the clock the updater for restoring them cant recognize either of them as well
i went to manage of my computer then device managment and i saw it showed the ipod but it had a yellow caution sign on it i've checked everything that i could its enabled and all that

Alright... so my new 5th generation iPod synched with my library... so it has all of my music on it now... but when it tries to synch with my videos, I get this error message:
"Some of the items in the iTunes library, including __insert video name here__, were not copied to the iPod "Sav's iPod" becaue they cannot be played on this iPod."
Yeah... except it's an iPod with video capabilities... so it should be able to play videos. Help?

what format are the files in? avi? the ipod video only supports mp4 and one other video file.. you will need to convert your files to mp4 so the ipod can read the file..

Videos cant be added into my ipod

i hope this is the right section for me.
my ipod is the discontinued ipod video 30gb if im not wrong. i was able to add videos that were converted to mp4 format from flv format in the past, but recently, i keep getting the error msg saying that the videos's format isnt support by my ipod but the format are still mp4.
my brother also owns a ipod classic 80gb. we tried to add the same video into both our ipods, he was able to add the video to his but i wasnt able to.
anyone can give any advice about this to me? i tried formatting and restoring the settings on my ipod already.

Used ipod video converter but still cant get through the sync.

i change the format of my vids using the ipod video converter which it successfully did it..it changed to mpeg4
but when i tried to sync it, it stated 'there's a problem occurred'..

Try highlighting the video in iTunes. Then go to "Advance" (top menu) and select "Convert to iPod. This will probably help. Then you just sync again.

Cant find videos etc for ipod video

ive recently gotten an ipod video and noticed that on the canadian version of itunes there isnt any videos or television shows? is it i just didnt find them or does canadian itunes not have anything yet?
and also is there a way for me to upload dvds onto itunes?
