IPod Video Issues

I just picked up a brand new 30 gig Video iPod today. Music works great, it's the video I'm having issues with. I can play, watch and hear videos fine, but there's a buzzing sound in my right headphone all the time, no matter if I switch them with a different pair. What's going on? I've tried jiggling the headphone jack and messing with the equalizer, but nothing.

have you tried resetting it?

  • 60Gig Ipod Video Issues

i have a 60G ipod video and I had just connected it to my PC and transferred all my music and videos, and then the computer made the sound when something is disconnected from the USB drive. And i looked at the ipod and it comes up with the Apple boot screen, then makes a few clicking sounds then shuts off, then does the same thing again. It's been constantly doing this for the last 20 minutes....
I can reset it using the centre and menu buttons, and the screen goes blank, but then it just starts doing the same thing a few seconds later...
i only just got this ipod this morning and already it is stuffing up.... any help?

  • 5th gen iPod video issues

Ok. I'm on my second iPod here. Just got this one as a gift and am having trouble loading vidoe and photos to it. I'm on a Titanium PowerBook running the latest version of OS X. My boyfriend is on a pc and also has a 5th gen iPod. I connect either iPod to his pc, and all the tabs that should be there come up in the summary in his iTunes. It says my iPod is up to date. I connect to my computer and only the Summary, Music, Podcasts and Contacts tabs show up. I'm on the latest version of iTunes as well. It does say, however, that my iPod is Windows formatted. I take my iPod to work and connect to my G5, and everything is fine there too. So what do I have to do to set up my laptop at home to be able to upload videos and photos to this iPod???? I'm not finding anything in the discussions that's hitting my particular problem....

update: i did the archive and reinstall with my os and then ran software update. my os is clean and current, and the ipod is working perfectly.

  • IPod Video Issue

When I Download Videos from iTunes to my Ipod, Everything seems to be going fine... but then when i start the video up. It runs as if it is music and all you here is the noise. Is this normal? If not, how do you fix it?
    ~Thanks in advance

That happened to me before as well, but I figured out what was wrong. I was playing my podcasts by going to the music section, and when you do that it plays it like its music. If you want to see the actual podcast video you have to go to Videos>Video Podcasts>and select what you want to view and everything should be fine. Never try to view a podcast through the music section, all it allows you to do is listen to it.
    Hope this helps.

  • 60GB iPod video battery issue?

My 60GB iPod video has an issue where as soon as I remove it from its charger (plugged into an outlet), it says it does not have enough power to keep running and it shuts down. It gives off a very faint smell like something was burning from the inside, but I wouldn't have noticed it if it I hadn't lifted it up and looked at it very closely. I've been charging it for about four days now, and occasionally I would pull it out to see if it was still having the same issue. Sure enough it was, and strangely, when I plugged it back in, all of the settings would be reset (namely the time would refer back to 12:00AM). All of my files are still there, but when I plugged it into the computer, it would give the little loading circle and say "Please wait. Very low batter." The computer reads the device but not even as a hard drive (which I set it too).
Maybe the battery needs to be replaced? How do I know I can salvage my iPod?
*Note: I haven't had the iPod for a while. It was a gift from a friend and it seems like it was pretty used to begin with. I'd give it about two to three years since it was bought. The warranty is WAY over by the way

Yeah, an iPod is basically a small computer, with a locked down OS. If you want, my company www.dr-pod.com can replace this for you quite cheaply.
    Thanks

  • Sync issues with Ipod video

Hi - I just got my daughter an ipod video, and rented her a movie and I can't get her ipod to sync - it says the required "disc" is missing. I've run it through all the diagnostics and they check out okay. I'm a total novice, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Janet

Same problem here - music syncs - tv shows do not.
Just for the record, I have not purchased an Apple product yet that has not had extreme issues (iphone was the last one and an Apple I purchases for video editing).

  • Video issues - Ipod was not the best choice

Ive been really ticked off recently. I wanted a mp3 player that could easily transfer data between a mac and pc. The sales guy told me that an ipod would be great and i liked the idea of the portable video. But now i wish i handt gone with it.
Ive encountered a couple of problems... mainly my battery. I find it hard to really understand iTunes and the like. I had no idea what was going on when i hooked my PC formatted Ipod to the Mac at school. I couldnt acsess anything and the entire time it had "do not disconnect" after i had stated that i did not want to erase my current library. I finally foudn a soloution, after searching the site which has extremly poor tutorials i belive. Though i will have to see if this works tommorow.
My main issue is the video. Yes i know i have to use stupid quicktime but even then it will nto reconize my video formatts. Im trying to use this 'videora' but wonder if its even worth it. I keep trying to acsess quicktime but the program keeps failing on me. I was under the false impressiont hat it would be as easy as a drag and click to add any sort of file to the ipod. But after reading all the rants and threats on here, ive realised ive made a terrible investment.
Apple failed us. Why couldnt they just give it other formatt supports? Instead of tricking us into installing numerous amounts of software to get it to work properlly. I thought apple's software was meant to work smoothly on windows.
    My question is:
    1. How do i get my video files to work? They are VOB files, dvd files, and quicktime will not reconize this.
    2. Whats apple going to do about these problems? I didnt pay $450 for dodgy hardware/software. Expecially if i knew i had to dish out more money to get it to run properly.

    Try here for VOB files:
    http://arstechnica.com/guides/tweaks/ipod-video.ars/5
Also consider VirtualDub for some conversion.
I use Quicktime Pro for conversion. HOmebrew plugins are available for unsupported file types.

  • IPod Video + camera connector issue

I have iPod Video 60G and recently bought camera connector to have an ability to download pictures from my camera (Sony DSC-V1) on iPod. Also I have Belkin card reader 8 in 1 (F5U248). What I have read from Apple site and other different sources both of this devices should work with camera connector. I have tried both versions of iPod software 1.0 and 1.1. Whatever I have tried gives me on iPod only one message: "ready to connect" and nothing happens after that. It seems like there is no identification if anything connected to iPod at all. I may asume that this is a hardware problem from iPod side. iPod even does not try to initiate download. Did anyone see such kind a behaviour? Appriciate any information.
    Thank you

  • NEW IPOD VIDEO/ ITUNES ISSUES. HELP!!

OK here is my problem. I recently recieved my IPOD Video. Attempted to sync with PC... everything ok. Then tried to sync w/ ITunes... Big problem apparently I need to format all my songs to a new AAC?? Not even sure what that means. Any suggestions? I called Apple and they said I would have to do this everytime I copied a cd to my ipod. Is that correct? If so, the IPod Video will be sent back. There has to be an easier way. Please help!

I need to format all my songs to a new AAC
That's not necessarily true. The don't NEED to be in AAC. They just need to be in a format that the iPod can play.
There are several formats you can use.
    They are:
AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Music Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3 and 4), Apple Lossless, WAV, AIFF
What format are your tracks in now?

  • Earlier Issue with 30Gb Ipod Video

Hey, I have a 5th generation 30Gb Ipod video. I recently went out and bought a new 2.0 USB port for a PCI slot for my Ipod since I only had a 1.1 before that.
Well my problem is, I had it plugged in last night and it had the do not disconnect screen on the ipod for about an hour, so I pulled it out without ejecting it, and later on it said that windows said that the device was not able to be identified and was malfunction try unplugging it and plugging it back in, I did that and it still would work, so I restarted my PC and got it to work, then about a hour later I was uploading some photos and it gave me the same message, so I just turned off my PC and went to bed as it was getting late.
This morning when I woke up I thought maybe it was just the port so I unplugged and plugged it back into a different 2.0 port since I got 4 with that card I bought, I then left for school and came back to find that my Ipod is working like nothing happened since I changed it's port.
I just want to know if I should pull out that warrenty card and get a new one or if that message was just because the one port could recognize something was there, but not able to tell what device it is.

  • Video Ipod Connectivity Issue....???   Pleeeeze Help!

    Hello Everybody,
We have a 5th Gen. video IPod and had recently put over 1000 songs on it from a PC based iTunes.  In the past, we had also put some music on our IPod from different computers (Mac & PC) but as soon as we connect with our eMac (OSX 10.3.9) all of the previously saved songs are deleted as iTunes sync the IPod with our songs library.
We believe that there might be some settings that we need to change so iTunes will not sync music automatically and delete the previously songs. Could somebody please help us navigate how to put some more songs on our IPod without deleting our precious songs library.
    Thank You.
    God Bless Us All

  • 30GB iPod Video battery Issue?

I have noticed a problem with my 30GB iPod Video recently. I've had it for about 1 and a half years now with no problems until now.
I think the battery may be on its last legs as it seems to discharge a lot sooner than it used to (i.e. fully charged Monday, by Wednesday its displaying "very low bat warning" upon sync - and that's with hardly any use!). Even on the Apple Support site (here:http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60970) there's a page stating that it should take up to 2 weeks to discharge! This has happened the last 3 times i've synced and charged it!
Is this a sign that the battery is on its way to battery heaven (or ****)?

The symptoms do match a bad battery. Also, from what I've seen on the forum, a year-and-a-half is about normal (obviously depending on usage).

  • 60GB iPod Video Having Issues

Im not sure if this is the right board for iPod Video but if it is not, please excuse my mistake.
But anyway I tried using my iPod Video this morning and when i turned it on it showed a big black checkmark and the phrase "OK to Disconnect" under it. Which is weird because I haven't connected it to the computer in a few weeks. Also where the checkmark is there is this little black line going through it, kinda looks like the static you would see on a TV but just a tiny line of it.
Sorry if this is confusing, if you need me to elaborate more I will try to describe it better. But does anyone know how I can get this off my iPod Video so I can access my music again?
Thanks in advance for any responses.

So it now works, except for this line across the screen?
You may want to try using the Restore button in iTunes to erase the iPod and initialize its software. Then you can set it up and re-sync it as desired. If the line is still there after that, it is probably a hardware fault.

  • Trouble with a new iPod video (and a question)

My new iPod video is causing my computer to freeze when I connect it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. After that, it seemed to be going OK, but it only downloaded about 500m (of a total of 50g) before iTunes froze again and stopped downloading (of course the "Do Not Disconnect" icon on the iPod stayed there, but I had no choice but to disconnect it!).
All of my music is on an external Seagate hard drive coming in through one of my USB inputs. The iPod is on the other USB input. Could this be part of the problem? I don't think it's a drive letter issue since it did start downloading the last time before freezing.
Also, I'm wondering if I can use my old firewire cable from my previous iPod to speed up the transfer process once I actually get the thing working.
Any help would be much appreciated!

  • IPod Video to TV not working

I can't seem to get my video to display on TV...
-(I'm using apples cable, and have TV video set to Out, iPod video 60g)
Nothing appears on screen, and audio is just static
I've tried on 3 seperate TVs - all via composite inputs.
The video in question was an iTunes Comedy Central show (Lewis Black)
Are we unable to view d'loaded vid's on TV? Or is there something I'm missing.
    Thanks,xandra

Have you tried to play a different video?
    No, don't have
How about playing a song to see if the audio works?
no; just static with these cables
Might simply be a bad cable.
    I think you're right, Chris.
At this point, I'm pretty sure it's a bum cable.
    Tried the following:
connected using dock with S-video + audio cabling (this worked fine)
connected using my older ipod - to composite audio - Also fine, but naturally no video
Only drag is that I bought the cable as part of the Apple Connection Kit. So exchanging just the cable may be an issue (Circuit City)
    Thanks, xandra
