Ipod video keeps trying to restart.. HELP!

hopefully someone can help me fix my ipod without deleting all my files, which i cannot download agian...
i tried to change my ipod video to the ipod classic, after loading the classic firmwire in ipodwizard, my ipod has been trying to reboot over and over,it just keeps starting up and shutting off. can any body help me?
thanks..

That solution works, I had actually posted my problem with my ipod continuously trying to restart and never being able to restart. The other post's solution is correct, it will allow you to connect to your computer and itunes will recognize your ipod, restore it (yes you'll lose everything, I'm sorry and I know it stinks but it's the only thing I have found that works). The only issue I had with the solution was when I clicked restore on itunes it would say that the ipod can't be restored because of some unknown error 1429. So to go around this issue, go into disk mode connect the ipod to your computer, and it'll say that it needs to be restored. Once you click restore, immediately follow the same steps to put your ipod in disk mode to take it out of disk mode and your computer will be able to restore your ipod. I know the solution isn't the greatest because you lose your data but at least your ipod works again.

  • 30gig ipod video keeps resetting itself

my 30gig ipod video keeps resetting until it runs out of battery life, if i have it connected to my pc, it just keeps resetting indefinately, and if i disconnect it, it does so until it runs out of battery.
i've already reset it manually, returned it to factory conditions, I dont know what else to do, any help at all would be appreciated.

    Hello eonitwat,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Try manually forcing the iPod into Disk Mode and then reconnecting to your computer. This might prevent the iPod from continuously rebooting to allow you enough time to try and reformat the iPod completely using the tools provided by Windows.
Here are instructions on how to reformat your iPod on WIndows. The instructions are for Vista and XP, but you'll find that Windows 7 is very similar to Windows Vista.

If still no luck, you may want to consider having the iPod serviced.
    Worth a shot.

  • 30gb ipod video keeps on crashing

I just got my ipod video 3 days ago and I keep on having a problem where it will play a video for variable amounts of time and just all of the sudden crash. After this, when I push a button it will restart back up with the apple icon. I've read quite a few posts with people having the same problem but there hasn't been a good solution as of yet. I've tried firmware versions 1.1 and 1.1.1 with no success. I don't think that this is the same problem with a video playing for 30 seconds and then the video and audio stops. The ipod will also sometimes just crash when I'm using the menu or when I'm playing songs.
This has really been frustrating me. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • 30g Ipod Video keeps rebooting

I just got the new Itunes 9.0 and synced my Ipod video as usual, but now it just keeps rebooting and is stuck on the black screen with the white apple.
I have tried (twice) going into disk mode, and restoring the Ipod, but it still has the same issue. I have also tried plugging it into a wall charger.
Any help would be appreciated Thanks in advanced!

probably the next best thing to try is attempting to reset it while it is connected to a power source (like the PC). see:
iPod only shows an Apple logo and doesn't start up

  • 30 GIG Video iPod, Video Options not available - Please help!

    Hi.
I have a 30 GIG iPod Video 5th gen, with the latest iPod updater software installer on it.
But when I look at the iPod preferences, when it's plugged in via USB, all Video options (manual vs automatic etc) are all greyed out and not available for selection.
And I can't drag any videos onto the iPod (even with the right video format!).
It's like the iPod itself doesn't recognised that it is an Video one, like it has a complex and can only deal with music and photos.
Can anyone help or offer advice?
    Anyone had a similar problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your help guys.
Even with the iPod set to manual, I couldn't drag iPod format videos directly onto it.
Did a factory restart, and it has fixed the problem.
And just a note; the options in the video tab will always be greyed out, when the iPod is set to manually update songs.
    cheers!

  • My iPod touch keeps crashing! Please help!!

My iPod touch keeps crashing.  Apps, Camera, settings. Everything. It just started after I installed the last update. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Restarts are not helping.

Try restoring the iPod, first using a backup and if that doesn't help then as a new device.
    Regards.

  • Why does my iPod Classic keep trying to sync items from my iTunes library that are no longer there?

I have an iPod classic, 160GB model, that keeps trying to sync items that are no longer in my iTunes library, is there a way to stop it from doing this? My iTunes library is on my MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2011), 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB.

    Clarification needed
Does your iPod clears  your iTunes library or the music in the iPod itself disappears, when your sync the iPod?

  • Mac Mini keeps trying to restart

My Mac Mini keeps trying to shut itself down. It does not shut down all the way - but if I leave it to sit for a while I come back to notices asking whether I want to close windows and shut down safari, and if I dont' have any programs that prompt a notification before shutting down I will come back to find that the computer has restarted.
I have checked my power settings and they are totally normal.
    Any other ideas?
I have the same problem on my MacBook Pro, and the Mini is a copy of the MacBook setup so I wonder if it is software rather than hardware (ie a power supply issue).
    Thanks!

your profile suggests you're on Mac OS X 10.6.
if that's the case, you could try if upgrading to 10.6.3 using the _*Mac OS X v10.6.3 combo update*_ fixes your issues.
    other things to try:
_*resetting the System Management Controller SMC*_
_*resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM*_
booting into _*safe mode*_, then rebooting normally.

  • Need help - imac keeps trying to restart.... can't stop it!

I restarted my mac. As i always have. There was a tick box when the restart countdown came up, i didn't see it but didn't  think anything of it. Now each time I've started the mac up it opens with safari.... And then closes the safari window and reopen safari ad infinitum.
Cannot stop. Or close down safari as only opens for about five seconds then reopen again. Mouse pointer disappears so cannot click on anything. Desperately need help. I know my computer but cannot fathom he problem. Can anyone help? Recently loaded mountain lion.... Is this the culprit?

    Hi Catfromc,
You may have to re-install mountain lion on your mac.

  • IPod keeps trying to restart

Suddenly my iPod has decided to do nothing but cycle through restarts, failing every time. I hear the hard drive start, the Apple logo shows up, the drive spins for a few seconds, and then everything stops and the screen goes blank. A couple of seconds pass, and the process repeats. I can get it into disk mode, but it won't connect to my Mac.
Any thoughts, or am I out of luck entirely?

I'm dealing with somewhat the same problem. If you go into the diagnostic screen by pressing the center select button and the menu at the same time & then jumping to the back button while still holding down the center, will the test screen come up? Select Manual if it does, Auto stalls out at hook up a firewire connection. I thought mine was the hard drive but all subsections pass but it still goes into the infinite loop. I brought it back for a short while by moving back and forth between Mac & PC. Stumped at the moment and picked up a 1 gig Shuffle off of promo points my Bank gives to get by with till I either fix the 5.5 gen or give up & get the $99,00 refurb 8gig iPhone from ATT.
I have been watching the parts go by on eBay and it usually around $50.00 to get a dead one. Without knowing what is bad it's really too much of a crap shoot to risk! I hope some new info shows up here in your question.

  • My Ipod touch keeps trying to turn off.

Cannot get my Ipod touch to stop trying to turn off.  The slide to turn off screen keeps popping up.  Have turned off, hard reboot, restored and not helping.  Makes clicking sounds as if it taking a picture, but do not have picture capabilities.  Any suggestions?

I had a similar problem with my iPhone 4 n probably due to bit of moisture.
I kept on pressing the power button again n again n then switched it off completely for like 20 min.
When I restarted, it was all fine.... I think pressing the power button repeatedly helped it to reposition the power button..
    Odd but effective

  • Ipod video keeps freezing

ok so I just got my ipod few days ago brand new, had no problems with it. Today when I tried to charge it from my laptop this message comes up from itunes saying a new version (7)is available. So i download it and then it says a new ipod version is available 1.2. and i start downloadding that. so as its updating all the files in the ipod and its almost done, my ipod freezes and itunes says ipod is done updating you can now disconnect. so i disconnect the ipod but its still frozen, so i do a reset and it works fine for maybe a minute and all my files are there and it plays fine but then it freezes again. so i reset again and it freezes in a much shorter time... then i try to restore it from itunes to its factory settings and with much difficulty of it keep freezing i finally get to do it and even put my songs back on there. but then after maybe more than a minute it freezes again. i even ran the diagnostic and it showed everything was fine... any ideas what could be wrong, i tried resseting abuncha times and it freezes everytime, sometimes instantly. it seems like something is spinning in it and then it suddenly stops and crashes. this thing is literally two days old...
ANY help would be much appreciated.
