IPod video not charging & not working

My iPod was used moderately between November 2006 and June 2007. Always in Belgium with charging and synchronising correctly (always on the same computer). In July, the iPod was taken to the US and was used there + was charged on a local computer. Return to Belgium, and nothing longer works !! Not able to turn on, not charging either.
I have tried the recommanded actions such as toggle with Hold key and pressing Menu & middle point, but without any luck. Has anybody got an idea what I could try next ??

iPod Doesn't Charge
Also, does anyone you know have a power adapter or an iPod-speaker system that charges iPods? See if your iPod charges when connected to that.
It may be that the USB port on your computer is low-powered. Try one on the back of your computer.

If the Reset didn't work, you'll need to do a Restore.
From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finished, you will be asked if you wish the contents of iTunes to be copied to the iPad.

  • IPod Video: Buttons do not work?

    Hello -
Recently I picked up my iPod Video to find that I could not turn it on. I tried to flip the switch on top of the iPod from on and off, but nothing happened. I thought it might be out of batteries for some reason, so I charged it for a full night. The charging sign appeared on the iPod, so I thought my problem was solved. However, when I attempted to press any of the buttons or use the click wheel, nothing worked. I tried resetting, restarting, restoring, everything that I possibly could to get it to respond. I've had no luck yet. Anyone know what I can do to fix my iPod? Thanks.

The switch on top is the hold button. It locks the ipod. Make sure that it is not on ( the red is not showing).
With the red not showing, try turning it on.

You might want to make sure that iTunes 7 was
properly installed, (Help > About iTunes) and that
your computer does have USB 2.0 ports.
Older USB ports on the computer can make it really
difficult for the iPod to make a connection.
Is the iPod displaying the Do Not Disconnect screen,
    when it is plugged in?
how can you check to see if ports are older

  • Ipod video right headphone not working

i think the prong in my ipod video is out of place, if i hold the jack down and on an angle, it works in both ears but if it moves out of its place, the right headphone wont work. is there a way to fix it by myself? can i move the prong back into place? or do i need to send it in for repairs and if i do will they wipe my hard drive?

wow. i just came across the same problem just a couple of days ago. My ipod was working fine in the morning and when I got off of work I got no sound out of the right earphone. I bought new headphones cause this has happened before and it was the headphones, but like you said, when pressure was applied to the jack it was only then that I got sound out of both earphones. Ive had my ipod for almost two years now and it is still in really good condition and I dont really know what could have brought this on. Is this a pretty common thing to happen? I had a 3rd generation before this one and had to send it back after a year or so because the battery died, but I did not have this problem with that one and was actually a lot rougher on it. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for the input.

  • IPod Video to TV not working

I can't seem to get my video to display on TV...
-(I'm using apples cable, and have TV video set to Out, iPod video 60g)
Nothing appears on screen, and audio is just static
I've tried on 3 seperate TVs - all via composite inputs.
The video in question was an iTunes Comedy Central show (Lewis Black)
Are we unable to view d'loaded vid's on TV? Or is there something I'm missing.
    Thanks,xandra

Have you tried to play a different video?
    No, don't have
How about playing a song to see if the audio works?
no; just static with these cables
Might simply be a bad cable.
    I think you're right, Chris.
At this point, I'm pretty sure it's a bum cable.
    Tried the following:
connected using dock with S-video + audio cabling (this worked fine)
connected using my older ipod - to composite audio - Also fine, but naturally no video
Only drag is that I bought the cable as part of the Apple Connection Kit. So exchanging just the cable may be an issue (Circuit City)
    Thanks, xandra

  • Ipod nano 6g not charging - not working

My nano 6g is not charging at all and not powering up either. It just died all of sudden. If I connect my charging cable long enough, it starts heating up.
Any clue what could be wrong.
Since its out of warranty, would apple be ready to repair it at certain cost.

The same thing happened to me, so I switched to using a wall charger, and (so far) it's been charging completely and holding a charge. It seemed to coincide with the latest update of iTunes--the player was charging fine until I installed the update. I'm hoping the next one will correct it again.

  • IPod shuffle 4th generation is not charging, not recognized by my computer and laptop (Windows 7) and does not show up in iTunes

I have done all the troubleshoots and reset functions but my iPod shuffle is still not working. Every time I plugged my iPod it only shows red light that lasts for about 3 seconds and will disappear after some time. I've been using the same computer and laptop back then, and it stopped working since the last week of October.

  • IPod not charging, not recognized by computer

    Hi, all—
160 GB iPod classic, about a year and a half or two years old, trying to connect to the black Macbook, also about a year and a half or two years old, running Snow Leopard and the most recent version of iTunes.
Never had problems with it before, but turned on the iPod one day to see that it had completely run out of charge at random. Connected it to the computer to try to get it to charge, but after two hours, nothing had changed and was still on the "Charging, Please Wait..." screen. I've tried several times to restart it while it's been attached to the AC adaptor, but that's only resulted in losing any charge it's had. Finally tried to connect it to the computer to restore it this morning, but still on the "Charging, Please Wait..." screen after four or five days straight of being attached to devices to charge it, and isn't recognized by the computer when it finally has enough charge to go to the normal "Connected" screen.
Is there a solution to this, or is it a case where I need to send it back to have its battery replaced?

    Hello there,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
It sounds like you have already attempted a number of troubleshooting techniques to resolve this issue, but here is the Apple support document related to this issue with a few more techniques to try before opting to have your iPod's battery replaced.
    [iPod's battery doesn't charge|http://support.apple.com/kb/TA44551]
To be honest, it's sort of odd that it just died suddenly out of nowhere one day. Maybe just give it a few days of rest and then try plugging it again to charge. Many users who have experienced this similar issue have reported that their iPod would come back to life after a couple of days of not charging or anything.
Otherwise, yes, you will need to replace the battery in order to gain full functionality of your iPod again.

  • Help!! Ipod Video usb Port Not recognized !

Could anyone tell me what's going on with my ipod video 30g?
My friend borrowed my ipod for a file copy to his desktop, when I got it back and pluged it in the dock, the computer said: usb can't be recognized.
I am sure that the USB hub of my IBM is perfectly okay. And It is okay for the ipod to play music, photos and videos.
By the way, My friend's External Portable Hard drive also had the same problem after connecting to his desktop.
Have we got the Ipod usb port burned? Is there any way we can fix it?
    Thank You!

It seems that many people are still getting the 'USB Device not Recognized' problem from time to time. Unfortunately there is no easy fix.
Firstly, it's recommended that you make sure every one of your motherboard drivers are completely up-to-date, but you probably already knew that.
In XP, after a USB port isn't used for a long while the USB driver built into the OS sets the OHCI controller to suspend. When you plug a device back in, it can sometimes fail to 'wake up' properly. This problem was supposedly fixed in SP1 but there is a related registry hack that may still be able to help.
    Run regedt32.exe and navigate to;
    HKEYLOCALMachine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Usb
Create the Usb key if it doesn't already exist. Under this key, create a new DWORD value called DisableSelectiveSuspend and give it a value of 1. Then restart the PC.
A long shot perhaps, but I recall having similar problems with a USB hub built into my Microsoft keyboard and adding this key seemed to solve it. It wouldn't hurt in trying .
Alternatively, removing all entries relating to USB in Device Manager and all associated USB drivers will force XP into refreshing the USB driver stack.
    Begin by unplugging all USB devices, then use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall any USB driver software. Next, boot up into safe mode and go to Device Manager. Once in device manager make sure 'Show hidden devices' is checked under the View menu. Uninstall all device entries in this order;
    1. USB peripheral devices (printers etc.)
    2. HID and/or Composite USB (Human Interface Devices) You're using PS/2 input devices so you may not have this entry.
    3. USB Root Hub(s)
    4. USB Host Controller(s) (Universal or Enhanced Host Controllers)
Then boot back into Windows (not safe mode) and it should populate the Root Hubs & Host controllers again. Proceed to plug your USB devices back in, starting with your powered hub. Be aware that most USB printers and scanners need to have their drivers installed first before you plug them in.
Hopefully some of this may be of help, let me know how you get on.

  • IPhone not charging, not recognized by computer

Last night I plugged my iPhone in via its USB cable and the AC adapter and nothing happened... I tried my iPod's cable and AC adapter and it started charging, but when I got up this morning, the battery was still about 25% and not charging. I don't know when it stopped working.
I tried the iPhone dock with the iPhone's cables and AC adapter, the dock with all the USBs on my computer, the USBs without the dock, and nothing. When I plug it in to the computer, a notification pops up that a USB device is found, and then one a few seconds later saying something has malfunctioned with the USB device and that windows does not recognize it. iTunes never opens.
I've restarted the phone and reset it. I have not updated to 2.0.
The phone plays through the inMotion speakers I have (connected via the dock and the "line out" cable), so I think the connector on the phone itself is ok since it's sending music through.... is the cable bad? I'm a little nervous since my battery is so low and I have no way of charging it. There isn't an Apple store anywhere around me so going there is out.
    Please help

Had the same problem with my 2G. I fell asleep and left it playing the ipod all night, the next morning my phone was completly dead. That day I charged it for 10 hours, the battery indacator only showed 10%. I thought the battery was a goner. So I turned it off for 2 to 3 hours and when I turned it back on the battery was fully charged. Dont know if this helps you are not but you can try it.
Now I have a question. How can I uninstall an APP?
