Ipod Video out to TV

I connected my Ipod Video to the TV via a composite video cable from the line out jack on top of the Ipod to the RCA jacks on the TV. The movie played but the motion of the movie was consistently slurred (like a slow internet connection). Why is this happening? Is it the Ipod, video cable, or something else?

Did you check the settings on the TV itself? Are you feeding the video through a A/V receiver?
Those may also be distorting your picture.
In my case, I'm going from my Nano>Yamaha A/V receiver>Mitsubishi 65" WS TV.
Once I set my receiver up, and set my TV to standard, I was getting a distortion-free picture (at least with the "Jack-Jack" short that I got free from iTunes). My setting in the Nano were WS & NTSC. Everything was cool (I was surprised on how good the picture looked, but then my Yamaha is great for upscaling).
I don't know if this helped, but if you list a little more about your config, I might be able to assit better.

  • Dock + iPod Video Out

    Hi all,
can anyone tell me if while the ipod is docked, the video out on the ipod can be used to view photos/videos ?
    Thanks
    Chris

I'm working on a similar problem.
When I connect a dock connector with usb charger the a/v out still works.
But when I connect the dock connector from my cars interface (which takes control of the ipod) I lose the a/v output from the 1/8" jack and headphone.
I am considering removing pin 8 on the dock (Video) in the hopes this may work. But I am concerned it is a software issue where if an "accessory" like head unit interfaces take control of the ipod then it shuts off the a/v output.
I wish their was a menu setting for this as all I need is to split off the video signal.
    I'll post if I find a solution.

  • IPod Video out of sync with audio.

    Hey guys.
I recently purchased a video ipod and was looking for ways to convert my videos & DVD's to work on my ipod.
    So far I've done
    cucusoft
    psp9
    videora
    pqdvd
    pocketdvix
quicktime (freezes up on my pc, and takes ages to convert)
and i've yet to find any way of stopping the audio and video from being out of sync (by anything from half a second to about 7 seconds) with one an other...
is there a program or technique I could use that will enable me to watch video that is in sync with the audio?
on a footnote, the quicktime does work but regulalarly shuts down on my computer and takes WAY too long to convert.
Please help me out here guys as I am reaching the end of my tether.
    Thanks.
    /\Ben/\

hi -- i've tried nearly all the programs you have, and have finally gotten the pq dvd to ipod video converter to work out of all of them. btw, the xilisoft one does NOT work, and i'm trying to get my money back from them, so buyer beware!
anyway, i found the issue to be the frame rate -- on movies, i was able to use 30fps successfully (worked for star wars, for example), but on native tv show dvd's (such as sex and the city) i had to use 24fps.
see if that works for you.

  • New ITUNES Does not allow me to sync and wiped out song on my ipod video

I was prompted to update my ITUNES software (7.02 I believe). Once I did this, it told me that I needed to update my Quick Time Software, which I also did.
I did as I was told and took my IPOD Video out on my walk. It deleted every song on my out except for two. When I attempeted to re synch the IPOD it will not allow me to do it.
The playlists on the IPOD appear to be locked.
    HELP PLEASE

I am having the same problem. My library is not showing up on my computer but is on my phone. The only thing on my computer is the 3 songs I just bought. My message says that my Iphone is synced with another library. I do not want to lose the 100+ songs on my iphone. I do not see them anywhere on my Mac computer. Should I sync or will I lose all music?

  • Sync Nikon D200 w/ 4GB card runs iPod 40GB out of battery during sync..

I am using a 4GB 133x Lexar Professional compact flash card in my Nikon D200 and I am syncing directly to my 40 GB iPod. On a recent session, I filled up the d200 4GB card with about 750 images and then I attempted to sync directly to my iPod using the iPod usb / camera adaptor. Well, with so many images, the transfer consumes so much battery power that it runs the iPod completely out of batteries before it completes the sync process. When this happens, I recharge my iPod and it won't allow the sync to restart where it left off and wants to start the process from the beginning again. You can not browse that imported 'roll' either from the iPod - but it does take up disk space on the iPod. I have about 10 GB of these temporary photos on my iPod that I want to retrieve.
My question is - how / where do I access my photos that are 'in the queue' on my iPod as a result of these transfers that failed mid stream?
Side note #1: File transfers from the d200 to the iPod containing about 350 images (about 2GB total) are able to be transferred successfully without completely discharging the batteries.

Good news - I solved my issue - the images are not corrupt, they are just placed in a folder on the root of the iPod. I completely understand your point of view on this but IMHO, using the iPod in this fashion is an awesome tool. I also think that is where Apple is going with it with it's file access features of the new version of iTunes. Granted, it's not for everyone and there may be 'better' means to do this, but here's my situation. I found it VERY useful as I was traveling out of the country where I had to cover 16 cities across three countries in just over 3 weeks. With all that travel (trains, planes, walking / hiking, cars, buses, etc), I had to be very aware of everything that I was carrying with me. 'Dumping' my D200 images to my iPod was great because 1) it lightened my load not bring the laptop 2) my iPod has an amazing rubber / safety wrap to minimize shock damage that I could synch with while traveling in any car / cab, etc… 3) I used the IPOD video out connection to display to photos onto televisions, projectors and computer monitors 4) it allowed me to listen to my language training audio sessions on the iPod. What a great combination - with the exception of draining all the juice from the iPod batteries!
So anyhow, my problem is 'solved'. All my photos safely made it to my iPod (over 15GB!!!) and onto my production computer. From my layman's perspective, what happens when you transfer photos to the iPod from the d200 is that the iPod creates thumbnails (in some strange file extension that I can't recall the name of) of the images so you can browse and see your work on the iPod. Well if the connection is terminated unexpectedly, the database of thumbnails for that specific transfer session is not properly closed or created and therefore the thumbnails can't be displayed - making you think that the images are corrupted when you try to view them from the iPod. The transferred images are actually there - they just can't be see via the iPod display. If your source images aren't there or get corrupt, there are conversion software tools that allow you to convert the ipod thumbnail format (remember this is at a lower resolution that the original images) into tiff/jpg/gif formats if you wanted to do that but the thing to remember is that most likely the source images are actually on the iPod.
I connected to my iPod via the USB cable, as saw that the D200 created a folder called "DCIM" and created subfolders for each transfer I tried. The folders were named "100APPLE", "101APPLE", etc… This is different from the 'Photo' directory contains the iPod thumb nail formats that are synched via iTunes.
Granted, the trick to doing this is determine where the images stopped in its transfer. But in retrospect, I was amazed that I was about to copy on average about 1.5 GB of photos over before the batteries died. Next time I try this, I will simply synch after every session or maybe create different folders on the d200 instead of waiting to fill up my 4GB (or upcoming 8GB) cards before synching.

After having spent EUR 130 on cables from apple, i still can not get video out from my ipod touch 3rd gen. Any ideas? It should nt be diffiicult to do this on the 21 st century, or not?

Backing up an iOS device will copy some data to a backup file within iTunes, but this excludes all media.  You can also transfer iTunes Store purchases from the iDevice to iTunes but, without using a third-party tool, nothing else.  As long as you do not sync the iPod with your new library, the media that's on it will remain ... for as long as it keeps functioning, is not lost, stolen, eaten by the dog, ...
You may also have an option to recover your previous library from your old laptop; as long as its hard drive isn't fried, a computer repair store or technician may be able to extract the drive, mount it in an external enclosure, and copy your data to another PC.  Whatever you choose, there is no real alternative to having all your media on your computer, managed by iTunes, and regularly backed up to another device/location.

  • Video out from ipod classic

OK, so I have an Ipod Classic. I jsut got the DYNEX IPAVC cable, and that doesnt work (no video, audio only). I also have an Accurian Dock-same deal, no video, only audio. Ive read a bunch that the Classics require newer hardware to get video to work. However, it seems like all the cables on the apple store that should work have been discontinued? How on earth do i get the video to play on my TV? Please help...thanks....

ill have to check that page out and see. i was on this page
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1454
and the composite and component cables say no longer available
    Apple Composite AV Cable
    (part number MB129LL)
    Apple Component AV Cable
    (part number MB128LL)
but it looks like you are correct. thats cool.
I had the TV Out setting to ON or ASK, and when i would do that, it would ask for the video out to be plugged in, even though they already were plugged in. I saw someone else had that same issue. I think its that these cables (The Dynex), even though they are advertised as such, do not work with the classic.
EDIT: Is all i need the composite cable? I dont need the dock, correct?

  • 3rd generation iPod Touch and Video Out - "whoops!!!"

Before I jump to any conclusions about Apple, here is my experience with the Video out operation of my brand new 3rd generation 64 GB iPod Touch. This is my third iPod and about a year ago I decided (at great personal expense) to purchase the Apple Composite AV Cable (despite the fact that you can buy copies of the cable on eBay for 1/10th the price). When I plugged this cable into my new iPod touch, the Video Out option was greyed out. I tried lots of different things but eventually gave up and went to the Apple Store to see what it said about compatability. Sure enough, the 3rd Generation Touch is the ONLY iPod, iPhone etc not mentioned. I call my friendly apple support person who says "*of course it will work, I am 100% sure*". I then jokingly asked if he would give me $1000 if he was wrong and begrudgingly he put me on hold "just to check". 15 minutes later (unusual for Apple) he came back to me saying that *I "might" be right but he was 100% sure that if I connected my cable via a Universal Dock it would work.*
Now, before I go out and spend any more money on a Universal Dock, has anybody tried this? Why would apple make the change ONLY to the 3rd Gen iPod touch?
I have noticed that there is one nasty non-apple cable on the market that claims it will work BUT it doesn't have the ability to charge...... besides I ONLY buy legit Apple products.
    Any comments?

Wow Apple pulled tha last post almost as quick as it was written.
I have been in the IT industry for 18 years, when I started out I read the Mac bible and got a job supporting 1000 macs (remember the wonderful days of the symbol of the little bomb and all you could do is re-install the OS - what a joke). We ditched the Mac due to limited application support (nothing has changed much has it). I did not look at another apple product for 15 years, got a Touch for free ( CC points) Firmware 2.2, loved the little bugger, had a whole new respect for Apple. Happily got 2 cables from eBay for $5.00 for both, video to the tv, charging, audio, best of all worlds. Then, I upgrade to version 3.01 for $5.00, what a deal, copy paste, etc. till I plug in my cables and nothing works anymore. Take it to the car for my FM receiver,. only mono now. Oh sorry you now have to dish out $50.00 for our cables (the /B version not the /A cause we even screwed our customers that bought our own cables) and oh ya you can only buy over priced FM receiver products that pay bloated license fees to Apple. Then we come to your story, you buy "Only Apple products" which do not work (check for the /A model of the cable, you need the /B (/B= Buy again?? Maybe) and then the support guy tells your to go out and spend yet another $50.00 on a universal dock and you are asking if you should do it. Sure spend another $50.00 for the chip enabled dock, it will work, hmm, I think I have put together a pc for less than $100.00

  • Does ipod nano work with ipod photo dock, s-video out?

Does the ipod nano work with the ipod photo dock, with an s-video out? Will apple make one for the nano specifically?

The iPod nano cannot show photos on an external device, I suspect Apple have not built this feature into the hardware. The options for showing to a TV are not in the photo menus either.

  • Video Out  and iPod

If you have one of those 30pin to RCA stereo & composite video cables. Will the iPod app output a video image of the current song album art, or will the app only do video out for actually watching videos?
I've got an interface I was going to install that makes me be able to control my iPod playback on my iPhone using my car's native stereo controls (it is done using the CD Changer port on the cars stereo). But my car also has RCA input jacks for composite video and audio. I love the MotionX GPS app and think it would be cool to see the GPS screen on my iPhone on my car's screen. So I was thinking of just using the RCA jacks combined with an RF or bluetooth remote control. But if I can't see any song information via the composite video out, then forget it.

i believe the video out would only work when playing videos and nothing else. this is because it would be impossible to control the iPhone from your car stereo unless they created a complete interface to work with the iPhone, and the only way to do that would be to get code from apple and i doubt that will ever happen...

  • Video out on ipod nano 7th generation

I am trying to determine if I can play video out to TV with the latest ipod nano (7th gen). I found a support page( iPhone, iPad, iPod: TV out support) which suggests its possible from 3rd gen onwards but I'm not sure that page is up to date for 7th gen, especially as the suggested cables are 30 pin rather than lightning.
If it is possible then which cable should I use? Prefer HDMI but composite or component would do.

    That is normal.

  • Video out on ipod 160 classic

You are correct in thinking that the Classic does not output video signals through the headphone output.
