Ipod video sync

Hello there,
I have a strange problem I cannot solve.
I've looked up in the Forum but I found no answers.
I've an ipod 60gB with the last firmware (1.2), and i have also restaured the ipod (but it didn't solve the following problem).
I converted my dvds of the simpsons into ipod video format.
If I set any of the Simpson show as a "movie" in itunes (7.0.2), it will be synced to my ipod.
If I set the same Simpson show as a "tv show", it will not be synced to my ipod and moreover itunes will considered it as not compatible for ipod playback.
Has anyone encountered the same problem ?
Because, it's really annoying : i have several season of the simpsons and the it's sorted as "tv show" in itunes is really handly.

I'm having the same probem...

  • Ipod Video Sync Error "Disk not found"

I tried to sync my old ipod video to with my new itunes library so I could put add additional 20G on. But when I went to sync it, I got a red error message reading "The ipod could not be synced because the disk could not be found." Does anyone know what this means or how to fix it?

    Hey there,
Have you tried putting your iPod into Disk Mode? For more information on how to do this see the link below. Also, it may be a good idea to restore the iPod, unless you don't have your music backed up somewhere. Hope this helps.

  • Ipod video sync 1 movie at a time

hi. i just got my ipod video and was wondering how to just sync 1 video at a time?
for example: i have the movie Black Sheep already on my ipod. I try to sync Tommy Boy a day later onto it, but when i sync Tommy Boy, Black Sheep will delete.
I am wondering if there is a way so that if i delete black sheep from my computer, if i can still keep it on my ipod sumhow while being able to sync other movies onto it without black sheep deleting. thanks for the help.

This can't be done with Front Row right now. Because the 3rd & 4th generation iPod nanos support "video playlists", there's been hope that some day Front Row will also support a video playlist. But, so far we haven't seen that option yet. You can create a video playlist in iTunes and it will play through directly from iTunes, however. You'll have to add your movies to iTunes to use this option...

  • IPod Video Sync Problems

I've searched for this for a while but have yet to find a solid answer. I have several videos that were converted over the years into MP4 or H.264, all of which synced to my former iPod 80GB just fine. Now I have a new 160 GB and some of them will and some of them won't (via auto syncing or drag and drop -- if dropping I get no errors, just the "+" sign over Device then nothing on release). I can't tell what the difference is between the ones that work and the others. For example...
    Video 1 (WILL go to iPod): 21min23sec, 245mb, MPEG-4, 624x352, data rate 1469, total bit 1597, 29 frames/sec, audio 128k @ 48kHz
    Video 2 (will NOT go to iPod): 42min40sec, 414mb, H.264, 624x352, rate 1203, total 1355, 29 frames/sec, audio 152k @ 44kHz
    Video 3 (will NOT go to iPod): 27min37sec, 270mb, MPEG-4, 624x352, rate 1214, total 1366, 29 frames/sec, audio 152k @ 84kHz
The only difference I can see is the audio KBPS but I can't see that making enough difference to cause compatability issues. I know I can just use iTunes to convert for iPod but I want to keep these files high enough quality to be watchable on full screen without needing to have a HQ version and an iPod version of 2000+ videos.
Any insights on this? Thanks in advance.

Many of my encoded videos are at 127kbps. I actually got this issue resolved by re-encoding everything that wouldn't sync, but the funny thing is I didn't change any of the settings. Just re-encoded everything as is and suddenly they all synced. I don't get it...
On an unrelated topic, maybe someone can answer this question here so I don't have to start a new post:
When I am trying to auto-sync my iPod I am having trouble syncing selected shows. I set to "Automatically include ALL episodes of SELECTED SHOWS" then go through a show and select certain episodes. But they don't stay unchecked if I Apply settings or go to a different show (ie, if I only check Seasons 1 and 4 of Futurama then Apply changes OR move on to the show Simpsons, all Seasons 1-4 recheck themselves). Any ideas? Thanks

  • Ipod video crashes when I attempt to eject after sync (Windows XP)

My ipod video synced perfectly in itunes for first two months. About two weeks ago, however, the ipod started crashing four out of five times when I try to eject it in itunes or stop the disk from Windows' "remove hardware safely" dialog box. It also crashes after syncing automatically when I disable disk use. It syncs all files fine, but when I attempt to eject, it goes directly from "Do not disconnect" to the apple logo, with the backlight flashing on and off periodically. At that point it will not reset, and I have to go into disk mode and restore it to get the ipod to show a menu again. I've restored it now about 10 times, and have reinstalled itunes but am still experiencing the same problem.
    Please help!

If you're running iTunes 6.0.5, I would need the crash log to figure out why you're crashing.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log" If there's already a file there, it most likely has multiple crash logs in it (new crash logs are just appended to the end of the file). So, delete this file. This will make sure you're not sending extra information I don't need. These crash logs are text files, so you can open them in notepad or whatever to see what information you're sending.
So, get the machine setup to collect crash logs, do the thing that makes iTunes crash. Send it to me. It doesn't hurt to put the URL to this discussion thread because I get a lot of these messages and are easily confused.

  • New ITUNES Does not allow me to sync and wiped out song on my ipod video

I was prompted to update my ITUNES software (7.02 I believe). Once I did this, it told me that I needed to update my Quick Time Software, which I also did.
I did as I was told and took my IPOD Video out on my walk. It deleted every song on my out except for two. When I attempeted to re synch the IPOD it will not allow me to do it.
The playlists on the IPOD appear to be locked.

  • Songs won't sync with iPod Video

I have a new iPod Video 60GB. I just downloaded Tom Petty's Greatest Hits. The songs appear in iTunes under "Purchased" and in my iTunes library. But they will not copy to my iPod.
I installed the iPod Updater 2006-06-28. I have the latest version of iTunes 6.0.5.20. The iPod appears in iTunes with the 3500+ other songs in my library. But the 18 songs I just downloaded WILL NOT UPDATE TO MY IPOD!!!
Guys... I live in Costa Rica. Banda ancha is a ***** here. When I download music, I want it now!!! Do you have any idea how long a 57MB update for an iPod takes to download on ISDN??!!! HELP!!!
iPod Vedeo 60MB   Windows XP   SP2 and all latest Windows Updates.

If you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, try this test:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

  • 5th Gen iPod Video not syncing all video podcasts

My 5th Gen iPod video is not syncing all of my video podcasts.
I did specify in the settings to sync all videos, but for some reason it only places 3 of each on the iPod. This is using the latest version of iTunes, OS X 10.4.8, and iPod up-to-date.
This did work fine with the previous version of iTunes and only seemed to happen since the "upgrade".
I've tried restoring the ipod - didn't work
    Reinstalled iTunes - didn't work
    Rebooted system - didn't work
    Undocked/Redocked iPod - didn't work
    Please Help.

Assuming you're running iTunes 7, connect the iPod and wait for it to appear in the iTunes source list. When it does, click on it, and click on the 'podcast' tab. Make sure it is set to sync all podcasts. Check the 'video' tab as well.
iTunes 7 included several new options for setting just how the iPod will update in iTunes. So, it's a good idea to go through them and make sure they're set exactly how you'd like them to be.
    Hope this helps

  • IPod Video Specs Inaccurate?  I can sync/play 720x400 mp4 files

The stated max resolution for iPod videos on the tech spec pages is 640 maximum width for both h.264 and mpeg4.
I was ripping some files for play on my aTV at 720 resolution (both h.264 and mp4 for comparison) and noticed that some of them were syncing and playing on my iPod as well. Turns out that the 720x400 format in the mpeg4 encoding will sync and play on my 60gb (5.0gen) iPod.
Anyone know if this is just luck, a fluke, or some change in iTunes/iPod firmware from Apple? If a change, Apple needs to change the published specs.
The other explanation is that older video iPods have higher resolution capability; but that doesn't seem likely.

Its not a matter of max width, but # of pixels. The max # of pixels is 640x480, which is 307,200. In a full frame video, 640 would be the max resolution horizontaly. A video at 720x400 is only 288,000, therefore fits into the max # of pixels with room to spare. Apples specs are based off full frame video.
OFF TOPIC, but deals with apples specs. What i find cool is that the specs say max frame rate is 30 FPS, but ive run pleanty of 60 FPS mpeg4s and they work just fine.

  • Syncing iPod Video with Firewire

I was wondering why we're unable to sync our music onto our iPod video's via Firewire? I recently needed to erase my iPod and reinstall my library. I had over 9400+ songs, which took over 24 hours to sync. Why can't music be added via Firewire? Thanks
    Ted

The 5th Gen iPod does not have the necessary firewire controller hardware in it, which makes firewire data transfer impossible.

    Hello Battouty,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Does anyone know if the IPOD Nano touch 6th Generation have videos+syncing?
No, you cannot sync videos to the 6G Nano.
For help on syncing all other types of content, see the iPod's *User Guide*. It should be able to answer most of your questions.

  • 80gb ipod not syncing video

I have all the boxes checked, i have 60gb of free space, music is syncing fine, but when i click sync to try to sync the three tv episodes i bought off the itunes store, it ;syncs but the shows aren't added. video podcasts are syncing, so i guess the problem is just that the tv shows aren't syncing
    Message was edited by: Tedlocks

    Hello Tedlocks,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
If these videos are TV Shows, and their *Media Type* is set to "TV Show", then you will have to configure your iPod to sync TV Shows from under the *TV Shows* tab for your iPod in iTunes.
More information on syncing TV Shows can be found under # 6 from this Apple support document.

i recently bought an ipod video. i immediatley added music to it. it synced and works fine. i can listen to all of the music on it, but when i connect it to my macbook, it isn't reconized. it doesn't even charge. i have a car charger and that works fine. i just need some help figuring out how get my mac to reconize my ipod. help please

I'm suspecting the cable. The car charger uses the Firewire 12V pins while USB is 5V. If you can borrow a replacement, give it a shot.

  • Movies and TV Shows will not sync with iPod Video 80gb -

    Okay, here is the problem:
I have an iPod Video. Previously, I have had roughly 20 movies that I ripped from my OWN DVD's to mp4 format. They all played fine and synced fine with my iPod.
Then I updated my iTunes version to 7, and now I cannot get the Movies or TV shows to sync to my iPod. I get no error message. I cannot get them to sync manually or automatically. I spoke to tech support and they refused to help me because they only offer sync support for content purchased from iTunes. Of course, when I told them that I had purchased several TV shows from iTunes, they told me to send an email to the iTunes store and have them let me re-download the tv shows??
What is going on here? It worked fine before? Same iPod, same computer? The movies are either mp4 format or h.264?
    Help!

I'm having extremely similar problems with my ipod right now
The only differences are: I have a 30gb and I already have movies on my ipod, it just won't let me add anything new to it!
I have about 12gb of free space left (the movie I want to add isn't that big)
I can manage (add/delete) songs and photos on it, it's just not letting me do anything with my movies! It keeps saying this whenever I try to copy my movie to it "[movie name] was not copied to ipod because it can't be played on this ipod." Which is total BS because there are already about 34 movies/music videos on it!
    Help!!
Oh, ps, it's not letting me put album artwork on there anymore either... due to error code -50 (which I have NOT been able to find any help articles on!)
