The Handbrake for Windows I believe is in an alpha (or beta) stage.
I myself, to convert videos, use Videora iPod Converter. Its free and easy to use and has a tutorial on the website.

  • Is iPod compatible with windows media player 11?

Hello, is iPod compatible with windows mediaplayer 11?

No. iPods are to iTunes. Other PMPs are to WMP. You'll have to import your songs into iTunes to transfer them to the iPod. iTunes is better anyways, but thats only my opinion.

  • Ipod 5G with Windows 98

Can i use my ipod 5G with Windows 98
    Thanks.

The iPod is designed to work with iTunes and there is no version of iTunes that works with Windows 98. There are alternative iPod managers for Windows such as Anapod, XPlay or EphPod but they do have a few major drawbacks. The iPod software updater is integrated into iTunes 7 so .....
    1) You can't update the firmware on your iPod if a new version comes along
    2) if there are any problems with the iPod you can't restore it's firmware to fix them.
    3) If purchasing iTunes Music is something you wanted to do you won't be able to buy from the iTunes Music store.
Staying with 98/ME, you may also require drivers, there is a link in the Anapod page to suitable iPod/USB drivers

  • Convert DV File to iPod Video with Chapters

    Hi All,
My question is simple. I have a project in FCP Suite that I want to export to an iPod with chapters. I subscribe to Podcasts that have chapters in them such as Photoshop TV.
I have exported to a DV stream from the timeline, and viewed the DV file in QuickTime player to verify that the chapters are in fact still there which they are. When converting from DV, what do I need to do to convert to a format suitable for an iPod Video with the chapters still intact so I can easily skip around on my iPod like a DVD player can. Nothing I do seems to carry the chapter markers over in the conversion process.

    Michael (and George)-
We've been creating the same m4v files with similar software to George's (FC5 and Compressor2) and while we can place chapter markers in the m4v file, and that file will acurately use the markers when played in QuickTime on the computer, once the file is sent to Video iPod, the markers are not very accurate, missing the marked frame by up to 2 sec. Has it been your experience when using this feature in Compressor 3 that these markers are spot on? Would certainly appreciate your input on this,
    Greg M

  • IPod Nano Video with Windows Movie Maker

I found this page by Apple that explains how to use video from the 5G iPod Nano, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3837
But, I cannot find Windows Movie Maker V2.5, and V2.1 with Windows XP will not import the video from the iPod Nano. Anybody have any ideas on how to solve this? (Besides buying a Mac...)
Also, Windows Media Player 11 will not play the video created with the 5G iPod Nano either.

You can use the AVS Video Editing software to import MPEG-4 Movie files in the same way you'd import .avi files into Windows Movie Maker. Also, the AVS Video Editor will allow you to import iTunes .mp4 audio files and incorporate them into your soundtrack. If you still want to use Windows Movie Maker for your video editing you can also use video conversion software from the same company, i.e. AVS Video Converter 6, to convert from MPEG-4 into .avi or .wmv format. I've found converting to .wmv to be considerably slower than converting to .avi though. Here's a link to the AVS video software offerings below. BTW, the AVS Video Editor can be used for free, while there's a charge for the Converter.
    * As always, exercise caution when using Shareware. So far my own experience has been good.

  • Reformat 60g ipod video for windows

I would like to reformat a recently purchased ipod already mac formatted (and loaded with files) to windows. The idea would be to use the ipod and itunes with both pc and mac.
I haven't purchased any songs from itunes and plan to use my existing music as mp3s rather than m4p or m4a on the ipod.
I have an external hard drive (formatted fat32) which can be used to back up music/video files which reside on the mac computer (and are also present on the ipod), transfer them over to the pc, then back onto the ipod again after formatting.
I've read that apple does not officially support a windows formatted ipod to be used on a mac. I've also read that using an ipod formatted fat32 on a mac slows down read/write in itunes, etc, but not sure if that also applies to the latest ipod video units.
Can someone verify this? I would like to be able to use the ipod on both platforms.
Can I just format the ipod with windows into fat32, or do I have to use the apple software to do this?
Would using the ipod like this be more trouble than it is worth?
    dell   Windows XP

    Thank you Niel.
I have an old winme computer that I've been using to format my external hard drives to FAT32 and have had success for 200g and 300gb drives which xp and mac then recognize, but there probably is some advantage in using Apple's refomating software for the ipod, so I will use that.
The ipod will be used on both xp and mac. I came across a post regarding using one of the older ipods formated in FAT32 and how that file system slowed certain functions with the mac as opposed to HFS formatted ipod and was wondering if anybody has experienced this with the ipod video.
When using ipod with both xp and mac, are there any other issues to be concerned with, like syncing with itunes, etc?

  • IPod Video with Monster iCruze...problems

I just installed a Monster iCruze in my wife's 2001 Infiniti I30 using her brand new iPod Video.
It doesn't really work...very slow...most times the iCruze freezes up.
I don't know where the problem lies, but has anyone else had any success with the iPod Video and Monster iCruze?
    Thanks...

Not sure if ths will help but . . . I had a similar problem and the basis for it was the iPod inability to sync with Windows Outlook Calendar/Contacts. Would get locked into trying to sync but never got anything done. I finally bought something at the iTunes store (a few games) which seemed to preceed the attempt to sync with Calendar/contacts. While it was busy downloading the new stuff, I went thru every tab and turned off all the automatic sync options for EVERYTHING. Now I manage it all manually, while I look for a solution for the Calendar/Contacts thing.

  • Ipod touch with windows vista

Hi,Im looking into geting the ipod touch, but I have read that the ipod touch does not work well with windows vista. I know the new itunes 7.5 just came out. Has that version fixed the problems with the ipod? Also what are the problems the ipod touch is haveing with vista. I have windows vista 32 bit OS. Thank you very much for your help.

Hey, yeah I have major problems syncing to Vista. The album artwork is assigned to the wrong songs or sometimes a chunk of the picture is not in the right place, some of my songs stop half way through the song then the iPod skips to the next song on the list. My movies periodically decide to crash and the only way to get past these spots is to skip ahead (which is very difficult on the iPod touch especially when the movie is long cause you dont want to miss too much) but yeah just letting you know that there ARE some issues with it not saying that yours will do the same but it might.

  • How can I sync the ipod touch with windows 7 64 bit

How can I sync the ipod touch with Outlook on windows 7 64 bit?

I'm having the same problem with Windows 7, iTunes has been spotty about recognizing my iPod Touch. Now that I've updates Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 (June 2011), It won't complete a sync or a restore at all on either of my Windows 7 computers.
I have gone through every troubleshooter action recommended by Apple Support, and have not been able to improve the situation at all.
I took my Touch to the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store after trying and failing to complete a restore while troubleshooting, and it restored just fine from a Mac.  Unfortunately, it now gives me an error meesage (Incompatible device) half way through an attempted sync, or iTunes simply freezes.
I even tried removing the Windows SP1, but that was a mess, as my display went all whacky and iTunes crashed immediately upon startup.
The Windows 7 OS ***** in general, particularly with compatibility issues, and not just for Apple products.
Does anyone know how to remedy this situation?
I'm so frustrated and have wasted so much time on this issue that I'm going to throw it all out the window!

Does "Ipod Classic - Last Generation" work using Netbook with Windows/32bit?

    Hey guidoxy,
Thanks for the question. The iPod classic technical specifications include the minimum Windows system requirements, as long as your PC meets these requirements, your iPod classic should be compatible:
Apple - iPod classic - Technical Specifications

    Windows system requirements
    - PC with USB 2.0 port
    - Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, or 32-bit editions of Windows 7
      - iTunes 10.7 or later

  • Ipod use with windows

Ugh, don't berate me for this, but I had to buy a pc (dell inspiron 6000 with windows xp) for my new job. Already it is not as friendly as my ibook. Anyway I want to put my tunes from my ibook to my dell onto my new laptop. How can I transfer the songs, and how do I reset my ipod to be compatible with my windows based system. Thank you for your help!

I'd just move the music files to the PC like any other file (copy to CD, flash drive, etc.). Install iTunes on the PC; it should find the files automatically. If it doesn't, use Add to Library from iTunes File menu.
If you have music purchased from the iTunes Music Store, you'll want to deauthorize your iBook (if you're getting rid of it).
You'll have to install the Windows iPod software, too.
    Good luck

  • Ipod problems with Windows

After upgrading Itunes to version 11.1.2.32 my Ipod Touch no longer works with Windows.  I've tried removing and replacing the driver, I've tried removing and reinstalling Itunes.  When I call up the driver in Device Manager the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver has a little exclamation mark next to it.  When I try to update it Windows can't do it.  I continue to get a message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".  I've tried updating the software on the Ipod wirelessly and am told that the software is up to date.

  • HT1238 How would you reset a Ipod shuffle with windows 7

Attempting to give my old ipod shuffle away and want to set it to factory settings with windows 7, is there a way to do this.

Connect shuffle.  Run iTunes.  In the sidebar, select shuffle under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Summary or Settings tab (depends on shuffle model).  There should be a Restore button.  Click it to erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings.
When it start up and connects to iTunes, decline to do anything that syncs music to the shuffle.  The new owner should be invited by iTunes on their computer to sync the shuffle to their computer's iTunes library, the first time it is connected.
