IPod Video without Sound, Partial name

I transfer my videos to my iPod and they show up on there and everything, I just can't hear it. Yes, I've converted them and everything.
Why can't I hear my videos? And how can I fix that?
Plus, I named my iPod "Ash's PARTAY Machine" But on my iPod it says, "Ash's PARTA" ....Why?

First, for the name thing, I just picked a name that
was too long.
The name was not too long for say, it is just that Windows can only display so many characters for a device's name. If the iPod was formatted for use with a mac, the name would most likely be displayed in its entirety.
As for the video and sound, I needed the Videora
converter to make the videos compatible for iPod
Video.
Again, your files were Muxed. Videora can handle them, keeping the sound with the video.
Glad the issue was worked out!

Phone depicts the video without sound , Please respond!!!

You still have a conversion problem; iPods don't like multiplexed audio/video (mpeg). Compare your encoder settings with the specs and try again. Don't worry, I had the same problems (and started using Nero Recode).

  • How can I record video without sound?

I would like to record videos without audio on my iphone? Is their a way to record videos without sound in the default camera app? If not than does any one know of any apps that can?

Do you happen to have your phone set for mute?  Apparently (with the Note 3) this would also mute recording of sound in videos.  Using normal recording mode?    Slow mo and other modes may not record sound either.

  • Videos on 5G 30GB iPod play without sound

Has anyone else experienced this problem? I've been able to upload .mpg (actually they're .m4v, once converted) videos to my iPod, but they all play without sound, even when I turn the volume (and can see the bar moving) up and down.
Actually, I just realized that they don't even play in iTunes 7.01 with sound.
Man, what a complete mess this whole experience has become!!!

Yes, there is a reason, QT won't convert MPEG 1 or 2 and preserve the audio. QT is the converter engine in iTunes. But iTunes will play a lot of video that iPod won't handle. Quicktime can do that, while iPod is capable of only limited file sizes and bitrates. So it is very possible there will be a bunch of iTunes videos you can watch there and not iPod.
    Solution:
    1. MPEG Streamclip, open MPEG and export to MPEG-4, press the iPod button (free)
    2. iSquint - drag and drop, set to h264 and high quality, press button, also free.
I find iSquint messes up on some MPEGs so I do this - first I do a batch in Streamclip to convert from MPEG to MPEG-4 (not H264 as I want speed and not the quality which I get anyway with high bitrates and no size reduction) but the same size and a high bitrate , that won't play on iPod. Then I throw all those files into iSquint and it "iPod's" them overnight. Makes very good videos in sync and iPod compliant.
Streamclip now has the big (640X480) iPod setting under the convert to MPEG-4 menu so I am going to try that and see if I can skip use of iSquint totally.
In the past at times Streamclip made them a little too high a bitrate. Even on its iPOd setting hence the two step batch process. But batch processing means it works while you sleep so it is a minor irritant.
Note the inability of QT to convert muxed MPEG audio has been a "feature" of QT for a long time so this is nothing new.

  • Videos on my iPod are without sound...

Please help me...i downoad videos to my iPod video,
but there's no sound...clip is playing but no sound...

Quicktime, Quicktime Pro and iTunes don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.
See:iPod plays video but not audio.
You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.

  • Converted videos without sound

i have added and converted 5 videos to ipod format, and added to my ipod.
even though the videos had sound before they are not playing with sound on my ipod or on my itunes
how can i make it play with sound

The discussion of converting/ripping DVDs to iPod format is forbidden on these boards - [Terms of Use|http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa]. I would suggest searching the internet or going to the [iPod Lounge|http://www.ipodlounge.com] to find what you're looking for, because I'm sure you're talking about converting your home movie DVDs to iPod format and not breaking the Copywrite protection of Commercial DVDs and U.S. Federal Law in the process.
P.S. Breaking Copywrite Protection is also against the law in most other countries as well.

  • Videos without sound

I have the latest itunes on my pc and videos in an endless list of formats avi mpeg flv wma
I've imported the files into the itunes library and through the advanced option I click the 'convert to ipod/iphone version'
it takes AGES for the conversion only to find out the video lacks sound. There is no audio signal at all.
    Any suggestions?

Try using MPEG Streamclip to convert the videos; more information on this issue is available in this article.

  • Is it possible to record a ipad video without sound?

Have tried everything, but unable to record videos without any sound.

I don't think you can. There's a low tech approach, put a piece of tape over the microphone. Might not cut it all but might mute it down.

  • Iphone 4 some videos without sound

I did make some videos today with my iPhone 4. In some of the videos the sound is working totally normal, but in some of them, you can't hear anything. Nothing. No single noise.

  • Video without Sound on the Ipod HELP!!!

I convert my ordinary music video's to m4v in quicktime.
and then put them music video on my Ipod but when i take the ipod out and try to listen to the video there is no sound at all and then i try to hear a mp3 song and it works.
so what can be the problem ???

Gulliver: That method works for Mac's, but that software isn't available for Windows machines.
The link I posted above gives two different solutions for Windows users, one of which uses VirtualDub (free), and the other of which uses TMPGEnc (pay software, but the method I posted does not use the purchased functionality of it).
Of course, if you don't have Quicktime Pro for encoding, there's always Videora, which is easier and faster, but which doesn't produce as high quality encodes for H264 formats.
