IPOD Video wont finish booting

My one day old ipod wont complete the the boot sequence and just keeps trying to boot over and over. I fear it will die from exhaustion soon. I am very angry with Apple.

The exact same thing is happening to me! I tried to reinstall to it factory settings (I forgot what its called) but my computer won't recognize that the ipod is connected through the usb. My iPod is only a day old too and I finally just had to let it run out of battery while rebooting. This couldn't have been easy on the hard drive as it was continuasly rebooting for many hours. If I can't fix it do I need a receipt? I have the year warranty, but I bought it brand new and sealed from eBay. Do I send it in to apple? I am afraid that after Apple fixes it, the hard drive will crash months after because of the much stress it had rebooting over and over. After Apple fixes it, will I still get to keep my year warranty and could I buy an extended one? Thanks for the help. I know I asked a lot of questions!
Thanks,
Kevin

  • My ipod video wont play sound through the headphone jack or the bottom connector

Hello everyone. I have an iPod Video 60GB (supports video output through the headphone jack). Which I believe was the last one before the iPod "classic".
Anyways awhile back it stopped outputting sound through the headphone jack, I assumed I had damaged the jack itself as commonly happens but it stopped outputting sound through the dock connector to my ipod speaker dock and my cars ipod connector. The clicker wont make any noise either.
When I tried to search for an answer to this problem years ago I couldnt find anything and knowing it would be out of warrenty I put it aside and forgot about it. Having searched again recently it seems as if this could be the audio processor or some component on the board coming loose? Has anyone outlined this problem with pictures and steps to repair it?
I *may* take it in and pay the $30 but I would much prefer to fix it myself. Thank you for any help with this.

Update: The model # is MA147LL. Not sure why my edit didnt take effect.

  • Ipod Video wont turn on

    Hello all,
Lately I have been having problems syncing my ipod video to my computer. Because of this I restored the ipod and updated the to the latest software version. Now after restarting the ipod it will not get past the apple logo that you get with you restart your ipod, it just keeps flashing that screen as if it is stuck on bootup or somthing. I am able to get into disk mode but that really does nothing for me. Any ideas? any help would be greatly appreciated.
    windows   Windows XP Pro

    Hey
Yup, I have the newest restore program. I plug the ipod into the computer in disk mode because that is the only mode the computer will recognize it. I then open the update program and it sees the ipod and I am able to restore it. This particular time I left it for quite a while so that I was making sure it didnt miss anything. The updater program says that it is finished and the ipod says do not disconnect and it is flashing so I assume it is functioning correctly. I then tried to add my songs back to the ipod, but it says the disk cannot be written to, I thought maybe I needed to initialize the disk but could not find that option anywhere. After attempting to update the ipod that is when the "do not disconnect" stops flashing and it freezes. I then try to reset it but it just freezes at the bootup screen.

  • 30GB ipod video wont turn off

all of the sudden after a month of having my ipod video, it wont turn off
any idea what to do? will resetting it even help??
it plays music just fine and nothing wrong with the connection to my computer

Like the guy said, different levels. You only have to hold down Pause, and then the system goes into Sleep mode. The problem is that you probably moved your finger when the button was pressed. Don't. Keep your finger still on the button. This happened to me oh so many times
Otherwise, add a Sleep item to your Main Menu. Hold down Menu for a few seconds to go back to the Main Menu. Go to Settings > Main Menu. Scroll down to "Sleep", and turn it on. Now go back to the Main Menu, and choose the Sleep option.

  • Apple TV wont finish booting up..HElp!

Had my Apple TV for about 4 years, over time it became slow and more troublsome to get to complete booting up after it was shut down(after moving etc). As it begine to boot up the images are pixilated and not complete, the sound starts (the boot tune) then it just locks up and wont finish. I have unplugged it multiple times and tried all the commonds from the remote. It seems like a hard drive issue. Is there a secret to "hard boot" beyond the power supply interruption (unplugging)... Is there a place I can send it for service?

I suspect it's a case of hardware failure - either GPU or logic board, and it's probably not economical to repair it.
The pixellation is a bad sign.
Whatever you do wait until after has it's media event on Sept 1st, in case there are some new announcements of interest.

  • My 80gb ipod video wont connect

hello my ipod video recently stopped connecting to my computer it dosnt even find that the usb cord is connected to it ive tried everything from software to swapping parts with my older ipod video (same gen) and it still wont find the cord is connected if any one has had this problem and has fixed it i would greatly appreciate if you could leave me a post with a few ideas or how to succesfully fix this problem thanks

Reset it. Method varies by model. So look it up on the apple web pages. If it won't reset let the battery drain, put it on charge and try again after it has been fully charged.

  • IPod Video Won't Boot Past Apple Logo

I've had my 5th Generation iPod Video (80 GB) for about 1 1/2 years. I was using it the other day and it froze in the middle of a song, so I used the reset function to reboot it. Now it won't boot past the Apple logo; it just stays there (until the battery runs out).
I definitely can't use the iTunes "restore" function, since I've been unable to get my computer to acknowledge when it is plugged in.
I'm guessing this means my hard drive is done for? If so, I'm comfortable replacing it myself, but I could use some advice regarding a good (and economically priced) replacement drive. After a quick look inside my iPod, it appears the hard drive model is a Toshiba MK8010GAH.

You might try forcing the iPod into disk mode first, then connecting it to your computer and see if that makes it show up in iTunes...

  • Ipod video wont turn off

my ipod is a 30gb video and it does everything but turn off. i have reset it and tried everything. the pause button works but it wont hold to turn off. help please

I've noticed something if you have your iPod in a dock while hooked up through USB to the computer. If the computer is on, you cannot just take the iPod out of the dock or it will not turn off. This can also lead to songs skipping for no reason while you try to play them. The thing you need to do is open iTunes and hit the eject button on your iPod. Then when it disappears from the list of devices in iTunes, you can take it off the dock and it should be good to go.
But if you've got it in a bad/screwed up cycle, the first thing you should do is reset it (as you've done before, but you need to do it immediately before opening iTunes and ejecting it). Reset it, then open iTunes with the iPod connected, eject it, and you should be good to go. I had the same problem a while back and realized that I was just being careless. Once the iPod is into a "good" cycle from doing this, if it's not hooked up to a computer that is turned on, it should turn off just fine. But the second you hook it up to an "on" computer, you either need to shut the computer down before removing the iPod from the dock or you need to eject the iPod from iTunes as I've detailed above.

  • IPod iOS5 wont finish sync and more.

I have been having trouble ever since I decided to update to iOS5. I have had many problems from not being able to get my music to not being able to get wifi sync working. I have currently got all of my problems working after 4 whole days but I just cannot solve the problem for not finishing the sync. I will start the sync and it begins doing its normal things.. backing up, adding music, etc. then at the tail end when you think your finally done, it display's this:
It is so annoying! It happen's every single time. I have tried everything (from the previous troubleshooting I had to do). I have restored ipod twice, uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, rebooted laptop and ipod. I have lost all hope. Please help.

So I found the solution out today finally. It has to do with Voice Memos (or atleast in my case). I had to remove the voice memos from my ipod and then resync them back. It now works.
    Here's a link to a tutorial: http://peter.upfold.org.uk/blog/2011/10/21/my-resolution-to-ios-5-waiting-for-it ems-to-copy-sync-issue/

  • My ipod videos wont play on wmv

Im trying to edit and import videos from my ipod, but when played there is no sound and a black image on windows piece of crap movie maker.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Windows Movie Maker doesn't support video files from iPods, you will need to use some other software to convert it first.

  • Ipod video wont go into my ipod...help please

Im using Videora iPod Converter and it works just fine. I convertered the movie(about 1:35 mins long) to quicktime format and i exported the movie to ipod format using quicktime. Then i opened it using itunes it plays the movie in itunes just fine but it wont go on my ipod for some reason.. and im all the way updated on itunes and quicktime and software etc Please help me...

When using Videora just convert the movie and then import it to iTunes>then to the iPod. You don't have to use Quicktime to export to iPod after it has been converted.
Use the iTunes option 'convert' under 'Advance' if the movie quality is good or convert the movie again using Videora only if the quality is poor.

  • Ipod video wont recognize videos!!

so on itunes 7 there isint a music video category, so i put them in the music video playlist, but when i plug my ipod in they dont show up anywhere on my ipod!! can someone please help me ive had this problem for over a month and cant figure it out. FYI all the vids are in the mp4 format.

    how do i do that
First check to see if this i even necessary with the latest upgrade. If this is a file you created, it will normally show up in the "Movie" category is drop/added to library which is operating in the "auto-sync" mode. If you are running in the "manual" mode, then II'm not sure if it is placed elsewhere. In any case, once you've found the file, highlight it and open the "Get Info" window. Under the "Video" tab, look for the "Video Kind" pop-up. Check there to see if "Music Video" option is already available.
If yes, select it. On mine, when I select this option and press "OK," the file is automatically movie to the Music Library area. Would normally expect this to be an application preset, but if it isn't, use "Lostify" (Mac metadata utility) or a similar PC utility to assign this designation to the file in question. In the case of Lostify, simply "drag 'n drop" the file to the utility's desktop icon. When the window opens, it will contain a "Video Kind" pop-up which does contain the "Music Video" option.
Once the file has been updated and in iTunes Library, sync it to your iPod in whatever sync mode you are using. Now the file should appear in both the Music area and in the Video > Music Video areas of your iPod. If played from the Music Menu, it will play audio only. If played from the Video > Music Video Menu, it will play both audio and video content.

  • G5 wont finish boot, can't find my OS disk

So I guess my question is where can I get OS 10.4.11 to try and resurrect this beast.
Was working fine, then locked with rainbow beachball. Had to button kill it. Now, on boot it makes it to the grey apple screen with gear.
After a few minutes, fans kick into high gear, so I shut it down again.

Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
    /sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
(Space between fsck AND -fy important).
