IPod View options won't stay

I will set my iPod view options (for the main library) to what I want, as in "Title, Artist, Time, Ratings, Date Added", and every time I reconnect my iPod to my Mac, the view settings go back to the default, most of which I have no desire for! How can I get iTunes to keep the options I set? I have tried everything under iTunes Preferences, but it won't keep. This has to be a bug, right? The iPod is a 8 Gig Nano, new generation. This didn't happen with my older iPod Nano.

It appears to be a bug. It's been mentioned here many times before. Send your feedback about it here.

  • View options won't stay

I just "up"graded to iTunes 11.0.2.26 on Windows 7 and I am having trouble with the view options.  I open the view options and uncheck the "cloud" one, and it goes away.  However, each time I start up iTunes again, the **** cloud column is there again.  How can I get it to stay gone?

  • Finder View options won't stay set 10.7.2

Finder view options need resetting each time i log out or restart. How can i make them permanent?
Finder window has no locational or size memory, reverting to a default size and position on start up?
Any ideas how to fix this greatly appreciated

I finally know what causes folders to lose their view settings - even if you have set them to "Always open in..." a particular view (but I do not know how to fix it).
The trigger is setting any window to "column" view. Try it.
    (1) Create a new folder, and set it to your preferred view (but not column view). Close the folder and re-open it to verify that it is in the view you have set. You can even set it to "Always open in..." that view, if you like (it doesn't matter).
    (2) Now open up any other finder window or folder, and switch it to column view. If it is already in column view, switch it to some other view and then back to column view.
    (3) Now go back to the folder you created in step 1 and open it. Presto: column view. (Aargh!)
I confirmed this with a helpful and sympathetic Apple support staffer at the Genius Bar in my local Apple Store. Unfortunately, he had no solution, but noted it as an apparent bug in the 10.7 finder.
This is an extremely reliable behavior, that I have confirmed on 5 different machines all running 10.7.2. It is also an extremely frustrating behavior that I hope Apple fixes soon.

  • Finder View options, won't stay set after restart or log out

I like to have my application and utility folders (in the finder side bar) open in icon view and arranged by name and my Home and Movies folder open in list view with files arranged by name.
Each time i log out of my computor or restart the view options i have mentioned are reset, which is extreamly frustrating.
I have also noticed that the finder window now opens in a small size in the middle of the screen rather than being aligned to the left hand side as like to have it set.
This problem has only occoured recently, i think after deleting some "relic" files using Cleanapp.
Any ideas on how i can sort this out greatly appreciated

  • The view options won't stay?

I've used Mac OS for a very long time now and am at the least an intermediate user both in hardware and software but this is perplexing. For whatever reason, whenever a Finder window is opened (disk image just mounted, clicked the Finder icon, opened my documents) it always opens in Column View, even if I already set the folder to icon view. It doesn't seem to be saving the .DS_store file correctly or something, because if I close the window and open it again, it resets to column view. Every once in a while it will stay in icon view but it's rare.

Since I got in trouble jumping in before I really knew what I was doing, tell me the difference between "Root User" and the one that locks the files so you
can't access them from Disk Utility.
I'm putting this in my "ToDo" file for a future time when I'm tuning/cleaning my
files. Right now I have a work in progress.

  • My Ipod touch screen won't stay on.  Right after turning the Ipod on it goes fuzzy even after a full charge.  Is this due to battery problems?

My Ipod touch screen won't stay on. Right after turning the ipod on, the screen goes fuzzy.
Is this is sign the battery is a problem?   Clicking sounds are also not working despite being tunred on, as well as the speaker.

  • IPod View Options Not Saved in iTunes

I just upgraded to 7.0.1 to see if it would fix this problem, but no dice. The view options for my 5G 80GB reset back to the factory settings each time I disconnect my iPod, or even if I restart iTunes and leave the iPod connected.
I'd like to have the browser up and have some of the other options changed, like showing track numbers and time. This is a setting that always stays the same with my previous iPod (4G 20GB). Anyone sles have this problem?

Sorry - I just posted a similar question, I didn't quite read your question carefully enough. I am having a similar problem - I keep having to restore my Ipod. If someone tells me how to check when I last updated my software, I could tell you if I upgraded to 7.01. Maybe that is the issue -
If anyone from APPLE is reading this - can you tell us if there are issues with the 7.01 upgrade in that the ITUNES software is not recognizing our IPODS anymore.
    thanks,

  • New iPod Touch Wifi won't stay connected?

Just bought new 16 GB iPod Touch, and it won't stay connected to my home WiFi. Even after a reset of network connection, re-enter WiFi info and Touch connects for a few minutes and then loses connectivity even tho WiFi bars still show. Turning WiFi off and on does not fix problem. Turning iPod off and back on will allow Touch to reconnect, but again only for a few minutes at best.

Does the iPod work OK with other networks?
    Do other devices work OK?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • View Options Don't Stay Changed

I can change my view options just fine. But if I exit LR and return, the View Options are back to where they started prior to my changing them.
How do I make them sticky so they remain static between closing and opening LR?
    I use V1.4 and WinXP
    Thanks in advance,
    Christopher

I remember experiencing the same thing you are - it would lose track of what you were previously viewing. If I recall, it would take you back to Album view at the very top.
I just tried to reproduce the issue by clicking Songs, scrolling down and clicking a song, clicking iTunes Store, then clicking Library to go back. It took me right back to Songs and showed the song I selected, as expected.
If you aren't running iTunes 11.0.2 (26) - check iTunes > About iTunes and make sure it does NOT say (25). If it does, install build 26 overtop by downloading iTunes at itunes.com. If you are running bulid 26 and you're still experiencing this issue, let me know and I'll try to reproduce it on my machine! Then we can file a bug report and encourage Apple to fix it.
But it appears to be working as expected from my experience with build 26.

  • View options won't stick

I work for radio and use iTunes to rate tracks for broadcast. Every time I pop in a new CD, I have to select View > View Options > My rating... Is there a way to make this the default view or to make this columns stick?
    Thanks a zillion

The problem is only on SOME folders, like the Utilities one. Other keep the settings just fine!
did you run the commands I gave you? you can reset only the particular folders but then you need to delete just the .DS_store files for those folders. all finder windows should be closed and this has to be done from terminal (or using Onyx). for the Utilities folder it would be
    rm /Applications/Utilities/.DS_Store
    killall Finder
Yes, I deleted the DS-Store file from the Utilities folder and the plist and killed Finder.
was the folder closed when you did it? that's important. if it was and this is still happening then I don't know what's going on.
I then thick the option to always show in icon view resize the window. When I kill the Finder the window is at its smaller default size. When I logout or restart the window opens in list view. The folder is bewitched!

  • Show all menu options won't stay. . .

  • IPod 5th gen. won't stay connected

I've had this Ipod for almost a year and never had a problem. I just got a new computer and plugged my Ipod in and it asked me if i wanted any problems fixed on it which was recommended. I said yes and now my Ipod won' stay connected. It charges but isn't found in Itunes or My Computer. I downloaded Itunes 10 and did all the recommended troubleshoots but it still won't work. It has the same problem even with my old computer and Itunes. I also now have 6.3 GB in the "other" category of memory now but nothing in songs or videos.

    Hi there,
You may want to take a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

  • IPod touch 4G won't stay on, black screen

my iPod touch 4g got wet. I got the battery replaced. but now the screen will not stay on. sometimes it will come on but most of the time
the apple sig will come on like the iPod is turning on but then it fades away.

All you can do is to restore the iPod to factory settings/new iPod. If you still have problems that indicates a hardware problem. Frequently water damage will cause such problems.

  • IPod Touch 64GB won't stay charged

I have a iPod touch 64GB that won't keep a charge longer then 1-3 hours even after I fully charge it. My iPod has never done this before nor did it show any sign of battery lose. It seemed to come on after this new upgrade to iTunes, I don't know if that has anything to do with it? I've taken good care of my battery, charging it fully and then using it to the end, I never left it on charge when it was finished charging, and I don't play but one game on it for only a few minutes. Its only use is to play music. I have tried turning it off (Holding off/on/sleep button until it ask me to Power off by sliding) but that has not helped.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • IPod touch applications won't stay open

I just bought a used iPod touch. The first day put applications on it, and everything worked fine, then suddenly some of the applications would open log enough to see the title screen, then it would go back home. I restored the iPod to the factory settings, re-installed the apps, and everything worked fine for a little over a day, then the same thing happened. I don't have any windows open in safari, and I still have almost half of my memory left.

I have the same problem as well with an itouch that I purchased for my niece. The first one I bought, the apps never worked after I downloaded and some songs wouldn't play either. So last Monday I exchanged it and got a new one. The apps worked on this one along with the music until she unwrapped it Christmas morning (about 4 days). Now the app will flash up then quickly return to the home screen. I also received a touch for Christmas and put the apps on mine and so far am NOT having that problem, so I don't think it's a computer problem. I scheduled a support call with apple but it will be January 4th before they can get to me! If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!
