Ipod volume issue

My ipod randomly decided to stop having a volume bar, I cannot use the external speakers or hook up my head phones to listen. Ive done the three Rs and none of those work. However, what I noticed was that when I go into the Itunes store and listen to a preview of a song it says Dock Connector, so Im assuming the ipod still thinks its on a dock despite the fact that I never use the dock I have for it. Once on the dock the sound comes out of the speakers connected to the dock. What I want is for it to be able to play at least through the headphones. Any help is good help.

Mines doing the same thing right now
I connect it to my doc then the volume bar shows for a seconed and then gos into doc mode then when I take it off itl show the volume bar for like five seconeds then it gos into doc mode without being on the f'in thing but I think it's the music app cuz the speaker works for me in recordings but not in the music app mines just the speaker that gets all weird but my headphones work fine this is an Internal issue or external cuz I tried cleaning my connecter but that didn't seem to work I restored it and turned it off and on a million times hut no it doesn't wanna play outloud with the music app may e the update that's coming out for iPhone 4 and iPod touch 3G will fix it but right now I'm in the same spot as u right now ( generaly ****** that my iPod touch 3G that I payed 350$ for doesn't wanna play out loud and trying everything doesn't work is just a **** off for anyone

  • Ipod & Itunes Volume Issue

    Hi,
I am having a problem with my iPod volume. It was not loud enough when the volume was turned up even halfway (barely audible). Only when I crank the volume to the max is it loud, but when I turn it down, to even three quarters it is not loud enough.
So, I ended up updating to the latest version with the ipod updater, and added some more tracks to my ipod from iTunes. Now, iTunes is doing the same thing when I listen to the tracks on my computer! Even when I play a cd through iTunes, it is not very loud, but when I play the same cd through Windows Media Player, the volume is correct, and the sound is great.
So, I think the volume issue on the iPod is now transferred to iTunes.
    How do I fix this?
I have a brand new computer, and havent had any problems with this before. I have the 60GB iPod Photo.
    thanks!

No, I checked that. Its weird, in that the volume was too low on the iPod and it was fine on my computer, but when I updated my iPod it transferred to iTunes and now it is acting the same way.
I dont know what else to try! help!

  • Volume issue with new 30G IPOD and Dock while playing through a stereo.

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I recently purchased a 30G Video IPOD and Dock. While playing through my Stereo I notice that 1) I have to turn up the volume on the IPOD to more than 50% and volume on the receiver to over 50% also and 2) the varience in volume of some of the songs varies consideably. I played by IPOD at a friends home through his Dock and stereo and he controlled through the volume control only on his stereo (same Onkyo as mine), it overode the IPOD volume control. His Dock is about a year old, seems strange that when I use my Dock on his stereo it requires the volume use on BOTH the IPOD and the Stereo. So it would appear that his older Dock is more convenient to use than my new Dock? The fluctations in volume of the odd song is still evident on his stereo as it is on mine.Any comments anyone? Thanks in advance. Larry

Make sure Soundcheck on the iPod is enabled.
I recall a few other people have mentioned the volume control on the iPod affected the volume out the back of the Universal dock.
I have the older dock and it is not affected by the Volume control of the iPod.

  • Volume Issues - Too Loud & Too Soft

This is a problem I've had for awhile now. It's getting unbearably frustrating. Volume issues, where the default value for sound ranges outside what the iPhone should be capable of doing. So for example if the volume goes from 0% to 100%, my phone will be completely random and range from -50% to 150%.
How can it be less then 0% you might ask, when moving the slider mid way the volume is completely off and any lower doesn't make a difference, then I'll receive an email notification and BAM the volume goes up 300% and it's so loud it feels like the speaker is going to explode. This problem happens at any time but mostly after or while using headphones or car bluetooth.
Example of my issue in action, I'll plug AUX in the car into the phone, play music, driving along, randomly goes to half volume. I'll turn up the stereo to compensate, one minute later I'll get an email and the volume resumes to normal operating volume and I almost sh** my pants in fright.
Another example is I'll be watching a video late at night before bed on youtube or something with the volume all the way down, then the next morning my phone alarm will not sound or it will but insanely softly. The work around for this is to play music right before locking my phone with the volume up all the way. Just move the volume up all the way, play > pause and there you have it, volume working agian.
And one last example, randomly it goes really really loud. Like how is this possible loud. I'll dial a number and when pressing the buttons instead of a beep beep beep. I get fog horn BEEEEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEP. But as soon as the call starts the volume sets itself back to normal. Kind of like how when playing music without head phones with volume on max sets it back to normal.
    Things you should note:
Ringer volume has been locked to maximum, but quite often won't abide by this rule.
I've reset the phone and setup as new iPhone, problem still occurs.
Please don't give a solution like, "Have you checked your sound volume in settings". I'm not stupid.
Also, please don't give a solution unless you understand the difference between "Notification and Tone Volume" and "Media Volume".
Other then that. Please help, this is driving me mental.

I recently did the last firmware upgrade for my ipod nano 5th gen and can't set the maximim limit.
It can be set, but wont stick and I can still go above the limit.
Did something break with the firmware upgrade.

  • IPod Volume

My iPod (3rd gen) plays with inconsistent volumes through my Alpine car stereo.  I'm not talking song to song, I'm talking total volume.  I attach the iPod using an Apple ipod connection into the back of the Alpine, and all functions can be controlled from the stereo itself.  Most days it will play at a decent volume, but sometimes, it just starts playing back very softly.  No change in volume settings for either the iPod or the Alpine.  No changes in settings for either as well.  It just plays back softly.  I have restored the iPod, and that didn't work.  After playing softly for a few days, the volume will come back again just as mysteriously.  Has anyone had weird volume issues with this particular model?  More to the point, any suggestions on how to fix it?

Welcome to Discussions. From the manual, try this:
Turning Off the Click Wheel Sound
When you scroll through menu items, you can hear a clicking sound to let you know
the Click Wheel is working. If you like, you can turn the Click Wheel sound off.
To turn off Click Wheel sound:
    m
Choose Settings and set Clicker to Off.
To turn the Click Wheel sound back on, set Clicker to On

  • Ipod Volume changes

I have an 80gb classic i purchased recently and am having volume issues. My MP3 files are played at a much lower volume than aac encoded files and are inconsistent relative to each other. I have tried sound check and it makes no difference. This problem occurs only on the classic not on my shuffle, in itunes on mac or pc or in foobar on pc. what can i do to fix this, and why would it occur only on my ipod not on my computer or shuffle?

There are 3rd party programs that do this more effectively (at least in my opinion).
    For Windows there is mp3/aacGain.
    For Macs there is iVolume.
    Also Macmp3Gain.
Btw, you did have soundcheck applied in both iTunes and the iPod?

  • My ipod volume keeps reducing in volume without my touching the volume control, how can I stop this?

  • Thank you Zyriab.  My volume issue is solved!

Thank you Zyriab.  My volume issue is solved!

This is a physical problem with the buttons?
Did you try doing a Reset (restart) of the iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1320
and if that does not help, a Restore on the iPod using iTunes.  The Restore button is on the iPod's Summary screen in iTunes.  This will erase the iPod, reinstall its software, and set it to default settings.
If that does not help, because there is something physically wrong with the iPod's hardware, you may be able to control volume if you get a set of headphones that has compatible remote control buttons on the cord.  For example, Apple's Earpods headphones should work with a 6th gen iPod.  However, it may not help if the button on the iPod is actually "stuck" and always giving the Volume Up command.

  • Need help with simple volume issue

I recently bought an Ipod Touch 3G 64Gig model, I was impressed with the mp3 player and loved it.
I have a small issue with it though, I am unable to find any app or help in fixing the volume issue I face. Basically I suffer from hearing impairment in which I can hear 40% in left ear, and 75% in my right ear, this usually leads to me hearing significant portion of audio on my right ear. I was able to fix this by changing sound balance in my previous mp3 player, I was surprised the new Ipod touch never had it when it is the norm for all mp3 players to have a decent audio balance settings
Are there any solutions at all or am I stuck with not being able to change a basic setting?
    Any help would be appreciated

    Wracken:
You will not be able to change the Balance Control (L/R Audio) from your iPod Touch. You will not be able to adjust your Audio files from the iTunes interface either. I am not sure if there are any apps that are available out there to address this issue.
There is one thing that comes to mind that will solve this for you is the [*_Sennheiser HZR-62 Stero Volume Control Device_*|http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HZR-62-Stereo-Volume-Control/dp/B000H 0K8VY]. This device controls audio on individual audio channels (Left/Right). Cost a little over $25.00 from Amazon. You might want to give it a try.

  • IPod volume varies

I've had some strange volume anomalies using the iPhone iPod. Some songs are very crisp, clear and loud while others are muted to nearly half the volume. At first I thought it might be a difference in the song compression quality and then I noticed that it even happened to songs on the same album. And it doesn't seem to be auto-correcting the volume. It doesn't adjust up and down during the song. Each song begins and plays all the way through at that level.
    Anyone else noticing this?

I believe the "Sound Check" option in iTunes affects playback on the computer only.
The "Sound Check" on the iPhone only affects the phone. The option is on on my phone and I am having the same problems. Along the same lines as volume issue, when I am listening to music, I have to turn it up all the way to hear music, but when I answer the phone, I have to turn it down. What gives?

  • IHome volume issue

    This just started today.
I keep my iHome at work. Usually when I turn it on it is a little bit louder than I would like. So then I decrease the volume by 3 or 4 clicks.
Today, when I push the decrease button, just one time, it totally loses sound altogether. I tried actually changing the volume on my iPod to see if that helped, but it did not.
So I seem to be stuck at a certain volume that is just a tad too loud for my office.
It worked fine (I have had this for about 3 months now, and I use it maybe 3-4 times per week) with lowering the volume until today when one push of that button seems to work like "mute". I have tried looking at the manual that came with it and all the volume issues say "decrease the volume" which is what I was trying to do!!
I run it off AC power, no batteries (not like that makes a difference).
Any suggestions or anyone else ever have this problem?
    Thanks!!!

I am having a similar issues in my MINI (and sometimes on the phone directly when listening through the ipod feature). Random songs play at a MUCH higher volume than normal and cause me to go from normal sound to blow out your speakers sound.
To add to the oddness if I skip forward to the next track when one comes blaring through, then go back to the blaring track, the sound has normalized. Sound Check has been on the whole time.
I noticed that if a blaring track is playing I can turn sound check off, then on and sound normalizes.
Would love some help on this issue.

  • Volume issues with GE60 Apache Pro-003

I recently picked up the new GE60 Apache Pro notebook, and I've been running it for about a week now. I should of course mention that I also did a clean windows install after adding an SSD to the system (and now can't figure out how to add back that cool MSI panel that was there when I first got the system).
Anyway, I've noticed that there seems to be volume issues with the system no matter WHAT kind of settings I tweak, or drivers I try to use. With all sliders up at maximum, the volume levels still never seem to surpass around 50% (from observing the volume gauges in the Windows Volume mixer panel). My previous notebook's speakers put out significantly higher volume, and was also able to put out far more power to my headphones (Audio Technica ATH-M50).
Any possible ideas for the cause and solution to this problem? Thanks in advance, and let me know if there is anything else I need to mention.

What are you using to gauge the '50%'? MP3's? Windows sounds? or what?
Pretty much everything. Music, games, online videos... According to the volume mixer, the audio levels never seem to pass 50%. The grey bar bounces to the peak, but the green bar never seems to pass the 50% level. It's as if there's some sort of limiter in place I'm not aware of. And since I reformatted the notebook as soon as I got it, I was never able to see if the volume control worked correctly before the reformat.

  • Has Anyone sent the iphone in for repair for the low volume issue ???

I called apple last week and spoke with a level on support agent. After he could not solve the volume issue they sent me to level two. the level two tech took the call and told me right away that they were going to send me a new phone. I give him my credit card as a deposit so they would send a new phone and when I had the new phone I could then send the old one back. Well after a few days I called to check on the phone and found out he never placed the order and now they say they want to send it for repair some place in Texas. They did offer the rent me a phone for 29.00 while I wait for repair. I told them no rental for me. How bad is that, a hardware issue and they say they are going to send a new phone and never do then they offer a repair and to rent me a phone. I was wondering if anyone had sent in the phone for this issue yet. I do not think I am going to send it in and I think I am going to get my refund while I still can. I just thought I would check to see if anyone had sent the phone in for repair yet and how it worked out.
    Andrew

How are any of us (Apple users just like you) supposed to have any idea?
We weren't there.  We don't know the specifics of what happened to your iPhone.
Ask the store that repaired it.

  • Is anyone having volume issues with the new Iphone 4S?

Is anyone having volume issues with the new Iphone 4S?

Yes, the volume on my iPhone 4s will max out without me touching any button or setting.  When opening mail, for instance, the ringer icon will appear and the volume level goes to max volume - and I'm not touching the volume buttons.  It seems to happen randomly, at least I can't identify a pattern, but thankfully it doesn't happen all the time, but at least once a day.
    Anyone else seen this?

  • Garageband/logic volume issue

ok so.... i basically finished the pre-production of my album and everything sounds absolutely fantastic.... through garageband and logic that is. when i export the song to itunes or my desktop, everything is very distorted. i understand that this is a volume issue. when i have "auto-normalize" on, everything sounds just the way it should but very quite. so, in an effort to make it louder, i turn off this option. the volume level returns to normal but everything is distorted. how can i fix this? can i have some examples of EQing, compression, and filtering? i am recording through a Lexicon lambda into my iMac 24 inch.

none of the tracks clip at all throughout the songs. ive messed around with all EQ settings and compression but it still sounds distorted when i export it. all im trying to do is export the song and the same quality it was at in garageband... if i out the song through logic or protools, will it help my problem?
