Ipod was stolen and bought a new one

I had my IPOD stolen and am buying a new one. Is it just simple to plug the new one into the computer and have all the songs download? Or do you have to reinstall software, etc? Any help would be appreciated. I am buying the 20GB 4th Gen with Video which is a model up from my previous one.

You should download and install the latest version of the iPod software updater, then run the updater and connect the new iPod, choose to restore. If successful iTunes should launch and you are set to go.
