Ipod will charge but wont connect

I update the Itunes to 10.5 last night when i got up thjis morning i conected my ipod 4th g3n to updaate to new ios and it wont show on the left hand side in itunes so i uninstalled it reset the ipod removed drivers on laptop and donloaded and plugs everthing bnack in again...its someting to do with the 10.5 update its rejecting the ipod please help!!!

I have a 30 GB Video, and it usually updates but i cant get it to anymore. I think it might have somehing to do with my sistser having an ipod on the same computer, on a different user name and folder. it usually will let me update when shes not logged in, but its still not letting me update, althoguht it will charge. My computer doesnt even recognise that i have my ipod plugged in. HOw do i fix this? Thanks

My Ipod will charge but not connect to my computer or Itunes, help please

I have a 30g video ipod.
when i connect the ipod to my laptop,it will onlycharge it.
it does not show up in itunes or my comp.

I am having the same problem, and it started soon after I downloaded the latest update (not sure if that has anything to do with it, but others seem to be having the same problem after updating).

that's expected behavior. the Touch doesn't support disk mode so would, by default, not show up in "my computer".

Ipod will charge, but is not found

Hello, I have had my Ipod Mini since march of this year(2005) and it has been working great up until about a few months ago. My Ipod will charge but is not recognized on the computer, and I have tried it in every one of my USB 2.0 slots(10 of them).
When it is recognized sometimes it will update the songs onto my Ipod and then it will just disappear from my computer, like its not connected, but it will still charge. What I want is for when I open "My Computer" it will show that a Ipod is connected and I can open if from there. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be welcomed. And yes, I have tried every one of the support things on the site and in my Ipod booklet.

Ive restarted my computer many times and its still the same, it only works about 15% fo the time, and when it does rihgt when it finishes updating it will act like its not there anymore.

I tried to use my ipod as a disk to transfer my itunes library from my desktop to my notebook (both Dell), now my ipod charges, but does not show up in itunes or on either of my computers. I have used the advice of going to control panel and unchecking the box under power management but that didn't work, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE PLLLEEEEAAAASSSSSSSEEEEEEE HELP ME?
I have windows xp on one and vista on the other, if that helps.

This worked for me, don't know if it will for you. Have ITunes open. While IPod is connected to computer press(at the same time) the menu and center buttons until your screen goes black and shows the apple icon then immediately press the forward button. Your IPod should show up. It won't hurt to try it, even if it doesn't work. Hope this is of some help to you.

My ipod classic charges but cannot connect?!

Whenever i connect my ipod classic to the comp it charges but it immediately says "ejecting" and then "ok to disconnect" i have tried many usb ports on my usb hub and none of them works. What do i do?

I don't have very many suggestions for you, but the ones I do have are worth a shot. Have you tried manually forcing the iPod into *Disk Mode* while connected to your computer. This may help your iPod stay mounted long enough for you to Restore it via iTunes.

If that doesn't do any good, try connecting and restoring the iPod on a different computer if at all possible. This will also help you determine if the problem lies with your iPod or with your computer itself.

I upgraded to iphone 4. When sync to comp. Comp. asked to upgrade. I did. I tried to open itunes and it failed. Quick Time error 2096. I went through severals procedures. Finally could open itune. Pluged phone in comp it will charge but wont sync

I am not one to give up. So I called AT&T today. Now they are telling me they canceled my order because they were unable to fulfill my order. Basically, AT&T told me they sold out so they canceled my order so I can proceed to reorder again. It took them 4 days to realize this. I will be lucky if I get a new phone by Christmas. I am sure they will find a way to cancel my order again.
Again, I argued, how is this my fault. I placed my order at the store around 11 a.m. Pacific time. My friend ordered his phone online sometime after me. He got his but my order was canceled. AT&T tried to explain to me that they sold over 600,000 phones, almost 500 per minute during there peak. Again, I asked, how this was my fault.
I can understand over selling the phone. It is a great product. There is no reason to cancel my order. You adjust my order and tell me you will let me know when my phone will be in. I would have been mad that my phone was going to be late but I would have survived. At least I would be getting one.
At this point, I have no order and AT&T or Apple website will allow me to order one. I just want to get in the QUEUE for one.

IPod not being recognized, will charge but wont sync

i have no idea whats wrong. it was working fine until one night my computer froze and my iPod was connected. my iPod became "corrupted" i fixed it by reseting it (menu and selct button) but now whenever i plug it in it says connected for a few seconds and then its ejecting and i dont have a chance to do anything. its still charging, so i can charge it but cant sync it. this is my ONLY problem and im thinking about getting a new one since none of my friends that have it seem to have the same problem and it'r probably messed up from being corrupted, but is there any suggestions to fixing it? or should i just go get a new one? im using Vista and iTunes 8.

i solved this problem, and if anyone else has it and has vista here's what to do:
go to safely remove hardware
select Apple device or iPod and click properties
and click enable
if it wont let you click enable click change properties

IPod Nano charges but wont sync

This problem just started happing 2 days ago.
I plug my nano into my Dell computer running Windows XP,
with iTunes latest version running and nothing happens ecexpt the little battery icon in top right corner goes to charging and eventually my ipod goes to sleep. If anyone can tell me why it will not charge please post an answer it would be greatly appreciated.

Ipod touch charges but doesnt connect

hey guys
so i bought an ipod touch second gen 8 gig from my friend. he formatted the ipod on his computer.
i get home and plug in my ipod touch and itunes does not know its connected. all the ipod does is charge
i have an ipod nano 3rd gen and it works fine. i tried restarting the computer and the ipod still nothing
im going to try updating the mac mini and itunes soon.

Charges but wont update

recently i had a virus on my computer removed and ever since then my ipod mini will charge but wont update...any advice???

I am finally up and running. I wrote earlier about trying to get my daughters ipod mini working. I had to get rid of iTunes 7 and go back to iTunes6 (suggested by ski mblz from Alabama earlier in this thread, thank you). It was not a cut and dry process. Had a hard time finding all the songs, and it still froze on me a few times and I had to Restore twice...but the bottom line is it's finally working...until next time we download songs!
