Ipod will no longer charge on docking station or car dock

My ipod will no longer charge while it is playing on my docking station or on the car dock. The only way I can charge now is with the genuine charger which means I can only listen for a couple of hours and then have to charge up again. Any ideas?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod 1st Gen will no longer charge or connect with cord only dock.

I was recently given an ihome dock for my ipod. I've using it for about a month now and recently my ipod touch has stopped connecting to ANY computer (yes I have tried 3 different ones) I have also tried 3 different cords. I used an old Ipod nano video to test the cords and it connects just fine and charges. Is it possible that something has become loose or has malfunctioned inside the touch due to the use of the dock? I know that 1st gen's don't always fit with new docks etc, so I'm afraid I may have damaged something.
    Any ideas?

Because once it has charged enough to be powered on as soon as you turn it on it says battery is at 20% and will not charge anymore after that, it just runs for about 5-10 minutes before the battery dies again. The battery cycles discharge/recharge daily and its not on the charger at full charge for more than a couple hours and is never totally dead for more than a couple of hours.

  • IPod will no longer charge, connect to my computer, or connect to iTunes!

Please help! I lost my old iPod charger for my computer, and so I got a new one. But for some odd reason, it won't charge, connect to my computer, or sync with iTunes! Another weird thing is that the new charger worked perfectly fine a few days ago, but starting 3 days ago, it just stopped working.
I've tried everything including device manager. My iPod is dead, it doesn't show the red bar with the charger icon when I try to turn it on to indicate that it's dead, just a black screen. I tried holding the sleep/home button for DFU and safe mode and all that, but still nothing!

  • I am locked out of purchasing anything but I need to purchase iTunes Match because my iPod will no longer charge and I need to save my music somehow.

    Help me.

    Hi,
Purchasing match will not solve your problem. Your music needs to be in your iTunes library on your computer. Read this https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • My iPod Touch will no longer charge from a wall socket, only my computer. HELP!

My 4th generation iPod Touch will no longer charge from a wall socket, only my computer. I tried buying a new cable and USB charging socket (and I bought one made by Apple), but that did not fix the problem. I restored it from iTunes, hoping that would work as well, but that failed. I am at my wit's end. Can anybody here help me? I've bought new equipment, tried rebooting, restoring, etc. but nothing so far has proven successful. If anyone's got a solution, please help!
    Thanks!

All I can suggest is the standared fixes. It seems very strange
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Bring the cable and Apple wall charger too.

Did you try to charge it using the adapter or your computer?
If you can, let it charge for about 15min, then connect in recovery mode, described in this article:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
If still not luck, your battery might have to be replaced:

  • My iPod will no longer turn on after I fully charged it. HELP!

I knew I should have never trusted Apple with personal files. I put all of my pictures from my digital camera (1,800 of them) on the ipod for "safe" keeping. Now my ipod will no longer turn on. I fully charged the ipod until the "charged" icon appeared. Then I disconnected it. A couple hours later I tried to turn it on and it no longer turns on. I've had this iPod for about 6 months and I'm pretty sure it's not a dead battery. It's been very good with me. The hold switch is NOT activated. I went through all of the common sense troubleshooting steps. I tried to reset the ipod. I tried recharging it on AC power. I tried reconnecting it via USB on computer. I tried the updater, which doesn't work b/c ipod won't turn on. I've also tried hitting it...jk. I also have 10,330 songs on here. This is my life on my ipod. I can't afford to lose this info. 60GB gone. Is there anything else I can do to fix this? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

  • My daughters ipod 4th gen will no longer charge past 20% and will not connect to a pc in order to back everything up. the cable is working fine, otherwise it would not even charge to the 20%. i have tried the reset to not lose any data and no luck. help!

my daughters ipod 4th gen will no longer charge past 20% and will not connect to a pc in order to back everything up. the cable is working fine, otherwise it would not even charge to the 20%. i have tried the reset to not lose any data and no luck, home+power for 10-15 seconds. I really would like to not lose everything she has, again, because I can't back it up this time. I have tried charging via a wall outlet and PC and both charge fine, just only to 20%. I am using the cable that came with it so no aftermarket issues there. Please help so I don't have to reset everything again.

  • My 4thgen iTouch will no longer charge...

My iTouch will no longer charge, at first I thought it was my charging dock on the alarm clock but it will not charge and is not recognized on the computer either. My pc says "the hardware plugged in has malfunctioned and is not recognized". Can I do anything or is this dead? I have only had it since November.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thanks

You can try a couple of things before you throw in the towel and take/send your touch in for service.
First off, restart it - hold the Sleep/Wake button down until you see the red slider. Turn it off. To restart, hold down the Sleep/Wake button.
Reset - hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons down at the same time. After about 10 seconds you will see the Apple logo - let go of the buttons.
Also, make sure you are using the original USB cable when you plug your touch in to recharge.
If the Restart/Reset doesn't work and you are close to an Apple store, make an appointment with a Genius and take it in. If you need to send it in, see the instructions on this site on how to obtain warranty service.

  • My ipod will no longer connect to itunes

My ipod will no longer connect to itunes except for while it is restarting. However once I get to my log in password it disconnects. Also my computer does not seem to recognize my ipod yet it still manages to charge it even though it is not recognized. I have tried unistalling itunes/ installing it again. I can't seem to reset my ipod, and I have turned off my firewall and disabled my anti virus. Nothing seems to work and I am losing my patience. This just happened out of no where. Does anyone have any suggesting about what I could do?

    May somebody please help me?

  • From today both my iPad and iPhone will no longer charge

It's the weirdest thing. My Iphone & Ipad will no longer charge. They both worked/ charged fine yesterday.
I have tried various other chargers for my iPhone as we have other Apple equipment at our house & they all charge fine.
The lightning bolt is not appearing when charging & nor do either of them beep when charging. My iPad is not even 6mths old!
And isnt it weird that its both? Is that a hardware or iCloud problem
    Please can someone help.

First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.
    Do same for iPhone.

  • Iphone 5 will no longer charge after 7.1.2 update

I updated my Iphone 5 to the latest software 7.1.2 a couple days ago and now it will no longer charge. I purchased a new cable thinking that was the case but it is still not taking a charge from my car, wall outlet, or computer.
Apple Support told me it is the port, a $279 fix without warrenty or Apple Care. I have done nothing to the phone to cause this to stop working.  Now my phone is dead with no forseen reason other than the update causing something to go wrong.
There must be some sort of issue as this is not the first post I've seen ragarding this.  I would appreciate not having to fork over a massive sum of money due to what I thought was a routine software update.
    Thanks

I find it extremely hard to believe that a software update has caused your port to bad. This sounds more like port just gave up at the same time as the update.
