Ipod will not be recognized and is screwing with window xp

One day my iPod reseted itself when my computer crashed, and when the ipod turned back on it deleted everything on it and went to "chose language".
Windows will not recognize ipod most of the time (sometimes randomly sees it in explorer, but I can't do anything with it)
Ipod interferes with my windows start up and shut down (comp will not fully startup or shut down unless ipod is disconnected)
Here is what I tryed:
Restarting iPod - just resets back to "choose language"
Restore/update software - crashes when I reset the ipod when connected, other then that it just asks for an ipod to plug in even when my pod is pluged in
Disk mode - does not seem to matter when connected to computer
diagnostic mode - tests seem to show everything is fine
Diffrent computer that my iPod was already registered on and worked fine with before - no cigar
Uninstalling and then reinstalling all ipod stuff - yeah... not working
Now in the process of writing this my iPod seems to be getting recognized. iTunes just launched, autoplay started up, and xp explorer sees it, but explorer freezes when i try to do anything.

ipod will not display track and artist name when i play a song... i cant see the the volume display to adjust it eiether. Everyting shows up in the menus just not on the now playing screen.... any suggestions?

Try restoring your iPod. Just be aware that restoring will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists choose no and it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

  • Satellite Pro M10 will not boot again and comes up with the error message

My Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 notebook will not boot again and comes up with the error message "load error" when I push the power button.
The problem arised after installation of "symantec system works" and trying to restart windows XP professional to make the installed program executable.
What can I do to get the notbook restart again?

    Hi everyone
If you cannot acces to the boot menu by pressing F8 you can try to recover the the master boot record from Windows Xp professional installation Cd, to do this:
Attention: don't run these commands if you have more than one operating systems running in your laptop.
Boot from Windows Xp installation cd
Choose repair installation from console by pressing "C" key.
A console will open asking you for administrator password, insert the password and press enter.
Run de command: FIXMBR (It will write a new boot record)
Run de command: FIXBOOT (It will write a new boot file)
Restart the laptop and now windows should start without problems.

  • My ipod will not be recognized by Itunes

I keep trying to put my ipod on my computer and it will not go in as a drive. The computer recognizes it as "Connor's Ipod (K:)," but Itunes will not allow it and gives me an error message sending me to this screen: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US. I have done every single step including reinstalling iTunes but the problem still persists. The error message states "An Ipod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the ipod, then try again. If the problem persists, uninstall itunes, then install again." I have done every step on the page, and tried reinstalling itunes. It worked fine until I updated it to the most recent update. My brother's ipod does work however, same model(Nano 7th gen 16GB), except his is green(don't think it matters), which is odd. Please help as music is my life.

  • HT1853 My laptop lost connection with itunes while my ipod was in do not disconnect mode.  My ipod will not respond now and still shows do not disconnect?

My ipod was connected to my laptop and in the 'Do not Disconnect' mode.  My computer rebooted after security scan and now my iPod is stuck in the 'Do not Disconnect' mode.  The iPod will not turn off, nor will my itunes recognize it is connect.

Try a hard reset of the iPod.  To do this, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • My daughters ipod will not turn off and it is frozen on the apple icon screen. Tried to update software, didn't work. Tried to restore, didn't work. Anybody know what to do next?

My daughters ipod touch will not turn off and is frozen on the Apple icon screen. Tried to update software, didn't work. Tried to restore, didn't work. Does anybody know what else to try?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod will not turn on and is not recognized by windows to restore it

I have a 30g video ipod that worked fine for about a week. Today i tried to turn it on and i got the sad face with the website for apple support. I tried the 5 R's but nothing worked. I can't get the ipod to go into disk mode and i can't restore it because itunes doesn't recognize it. It also is not showing up in my computer. When I plug it into my usb port it alternately shows a battery that isn't flashing or anything and the sad face with the website address. I don't understand why it suddenly stopped working for no reason. Does anybody have any suggestions or have been experiencing the same problem with their video ipod?

  • Please help. ipod will not show up and i have tried everything

i got my ipod two days ago. ipod nano 4gb.
when i plug it into my computer it comes up with 'do not disconnect' and occasionally a small circle icon in the top left-hand corner. the computer recognises that there is a 'mass storage device' connected, but the ipod doesnt appear in itunes or my computer.
when i unplug the ipod it displays the apple symbol and then goes to the language selection menu. after i disconnect it i also get a message saying that the file could not be saved to the drive because it was interrupeted or something like that and i should try storing it somewhere else.
so thinking that maybe this was it being updated, i let it plugged in all day while i was at school because surely that would be plenty of time for anything to load onto it. But when i got home today it did the same thing.
I have two computers and the same thing happens on both.
I have tried it using my sisters usb cable, still nothing works.
Any ideas? Oh on one of my computers it doesnt let me uninstall itunes as well.
And when I try to open the updater to restore the ipod it freezes the application and i have to do controlaltdelete and close it.
I am SO angry about it right now.
Since i only bought it a few days ago do you think i could get a repleacement from the store where i got it or will i have to go all the way through apple.
I havnt been able to use it once and it is making me very frustrated, please help me if you have any ideas.

    Sally,
OK since you using 2 computers, we will first focus on the one that will not uninstall iTunes, afterwareds we will get the ipod working on one PC first.
On the PC that will not uninstall iTUnes, goto control panel>add and remove and try if you can to uninstall iTUnes AND quicktime. Then go here and roll down to "Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
Once done disable any antivirus or security programs, then goto apple.com to download and install the latest iTUnes.
Also on BOTH pcs make sure you have "ipod updater 06-28-2006" you can download and install it here http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
Once iTunes is properly installed on this PC, you need to only connect your nano to the main PC you use for now so we can get it working, then we'll focus on the other PC if needed

  • IPod will not be recognized by iTunes library

I have my iPod connected to the computer and the iPod shows that it is connected, but the library doesn't recognize that there is a device connected.

    The following may help:
Windows computer: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
Mac computer: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X

  • IPod will not charge when iTunes in open in Windows 2000

I have a problem with WIndows 2000 iTunes install where the iPod will connect but as soon as it has finished synchronizing the iPod will go back to the main screen and stop charging. I saw several posts on this with no resolution.
I dont have a fix yet but I do have a work around.
Fire up iTunes and plug in the iPOD. It will recognize it and sync. Then select Options and in the iPOD tab uncheck the box which says " launch iTunes when iPOD connects" or something similar. Apply and Exit from options menu.
iTunes will resync with the iPOD. You can now disconnect the iPOD and close iTunes.
Now if you connect the iPOD, iTunes will NOT launch and the iPOD will charge fine, at least mine does:-)
If you now run iTunes it will still connect automatically with the iPOD as before and do all the usual stuff. The only downside to this workaround is that you have to manually start iTunes ( hardly a big deal) and close it and disconnect then reconnect the iPOD ( or just connect it and not start iTunes) for it to charge.
    Works for me.
There was a lot of black magic quoted on this support site relating to buying chargers, third party or otherwise and USB not having enough power on thursdays with a 7 in the date or having to use a powered hub of a particular color , alien interference etc etc. All bogus.
Its an Apple software problem and I hope they fix it in the next iTunes release.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, but I finally found what was the problem.
It seems to be related to Itunes config and Nano firmware. I found another post talking about this "Topic: Self-ejecting Nano".
I had to enable disk use in ipod options, but this causes me to manually eject Nano.

    Hi,
Try placing your iPod in Recovery Mode and restoring it via iTunes:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.
