IPod will not complete updating

After installing iTunes version 7 (and subsequently v 7.0.1) my 60BG iPod (v1.2 installed) will not complete the updating cycle while syncing. Everything appeared fine after the first updating attempts and iTunes recognizes the device after cradling the unit, but the update sequence continues hours on end, with no indication of files being exchanged in the status bar. I can abort the update by ejecting the iPod, but then all my play lists and Podcasts disappear from the iPod’s menu (fortunately my core library remains).
I reset the iPod and reinstalled v1.2, again with no issues with the initial update of my 5,200+ songs, but all subsequent update attempts seem to hang indefinitely.
Any ideas? I have already assigned a new drive letter (i:) for the device.

I have the same problem. A brand new G5 Tower, OS 10.4.8, brand new 30GB iPod Video and updated iTunes, 7.0.2. I keep getting stuck at song #112 when both iTunes and iPod just "stall". The flashing Do Not Disconnect continues to flash on the iPod, iTunes continues to indicate "Updating" - but nothing is happening. Earlier, during the 1st update attempt, the clock also froze on the G5. I tried force quitting iTunes when it stalled and couldn't. I ended up just disconnecting the iPod from the USB hub and then all **** broke loose. EVERYTHING FROZE - could not get out of anything, G5 would not reboot and began making this incredible noise - a loud fan came on and I thought it was going to blow up! The G5 is so quiet, but it appeared to be in some major type of distress with this fan just roaring. Eventually had to unplug from the power source and shut the whole thing down. I'm trying to upload some songs again but it's stuck at this "stall" stage again.
ANY IDEAS FROM ANYONE????????

My iPhone 4 adobe reader for iOS6 is stuck in update state and will not complete updating should I uninstall and reinstall the app?

The update process is handled entirely by iOS and unfortunately, there isn't anything the Reader can do during this process to prevent "stuck updates". Generally, we don't recommend uninstalling unless you have to because uninstalling will delete all of the PDF's in your documents!
Here are some steps that work for most users:
    1.       Make sure wifi and/or cellular data are turned on
    2.       Test to be sure your internet connection is working by opening safari and browsing to a website (like www.adobe.com).
    3.       Single tap the app’s icon on the home screen and it will pause the download. Now go back to the iTunes Apps store, switch to the “Updates” screen and click “Update” to resume the download.
    4.       If this doesn't work,  go to Settings -> iTunes & App Stores and tap the Apple ID to sign-out. Restart the iPad, go back to Settings -> iTunes Apps Store and sign-in. Tap the waiting icon to update the app.
Please let me know if this helps!

  • 3rd gen iPod will not complete the RESTORE process with new Hard Drive

I have an 3rd gen iPod and I have replaced the hard drive with a newer MK2006GAL. The drive formats fine with a USB cable, formating Mac OS Extended Journaled. It will not complete a "restore" when connected via FireWire in iTunes or with any ipod updater utility. this happens on any mac (we have several). It will not even see the iPod updater when connected via USB and it says MUST CONNECT WITH A FIREWIRE CABLE. It will not format with Disk Utility when connected with the Apple FireWire cable only USB. This is the second new hard drive I have tried. I thought the first "replacement drive" was bad. Turns out it must be something else. Does this sound like a bad battery or motherboard or bad FireWire cable to you? The connectors look fine (under magnification). other problems, while this iPod will not Restore properly, it also will not turn off.
Would like to know if anyone else has seen this trouble.
    thanks.

    Hmm now getting this message.
"The ipod "ipod" could not be restored. An Unknown Error occured (1429)".
It still will not format. Does anyone know what a 1429 error is?

  • The latest update for ITunes will not completely update. It tells me to try manually but how do I do that?

I'm trying to find out why the latest ITunes update will not update completely on my computer. It goes so far and then it stops with an error message saying to try installing it manually. I don't know how to do this. All other updates have been ok. This one is 11.1.
    Thank you for your help.

    Download iTunes 11.1.4 from here - http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    Hope that helps.

  • Will not complete update, automaticly or manualy. Tries everytime I start up and takes about fifteen minutes and tell me it will not work and t try manual. That does not work either and I cannot delete it.l

What do you want to know? I have no more details

I found someone with an install disk and ran Repair Disk. It said that the disk was ok. I also ran repair permissions and one of the lines was a warning and said: SUID file System/Library/Coreservices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/OwnerGroupTool" has been modified and will not be repaired. After fixing all that I could with that, I restarted and my computer showed minor improvements, but is not functioning anywhere near the optimal speed it was a while ago.
However, I did download iDefrag and checked the defragmentation of the disk. Over 50% of the disk was fragmented. I'm thinking of burning a bootable cd and running idefrag demo or drive genius 2 demo off of that. would that be a good plan
    thank you

  • IPod does not completely update.

For some reason my new 60gb iPod with video does not detect some of the music I have loaded onto it. What I mean is that I can load music onto my iPod with iTunes easily, when my iPod is plugged in all of my music is there, and I can play it all from my iPod. But for some reason when I disconnect my iPod and scroll through my music manually some of the music is missing. iTunes knows it's there, but the iPod doesn't. It does it all for the same artist and I have no idea why. I've removed it and then reloaded it and the music is still missing. I've used a mini for the past year and everything has been smooth with that.
    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I am having a similar problem i would like to know if it happens with you too
when I upload the songs, the songs that I have bought from itunes are like cut off. that is the song is playing and suddenly it stops abruptly and jumps to the next one, but that only occurs with the song that i bought from itunes

  • Firefox download will not complete update

when I click on any new version of firefox to download it takes forever (Ive checked days later and it's still downloading) and it never completes the download. Therefore I have refused to update to latest version for fear its never going to end.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop
    *Firefox 24.0: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application (open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded

Your personal data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data when you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

What is showing on your iPad's screen ?
If it's on the progress bar which hasn't moved for a while then try a soft-reset and see if that gets the update to complete : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should reappear and it will hopefully boot up properly.
If it doesn't then try recovery mode and restore to your backup : If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    If it's showing something else ... ?

My iPod 5th gen will not completely turn on it shows the apple symbol then shuts off I have restarted it and tried to plug it into my computer but cannot find it to restart it
Its been like this for awhile and I can not fix it

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iTunes library will not completely sync to neither my iPad nor my iPhone -- both are completely updated with the latest software. What do I have to do?? When I try to do the "autofill" option when connected to iTunes it says "no songs can be copied"

My iTunes library will not completely sync to neither my iPad nor my iPhone -- both are completely updated with the latest software. What do I have to do?? When I try to do the "autofill" option when connected to iTunes it says "no songs can be copied"...I literally bought some of these songs yesterday on my iPhone and now I can't sync them to my iPad. What is this issue? Usually I would just have to plug either device into iTunes and everything would sync, now nothing new syncs.

On your iPad tap Settings > Store
Switch Books off then back on then reset your iPad.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
