Ipod will not connect to wifi

My ipod touch has stopped connecting to my home network. The network name appears in the list and the ipod tries to connect but the circular animation continues to play to the left of the network name. When I change the ip address to static and enter the numbers manually I get a tick appearing next to the network name but no connection. I have updated all software and gone through the apple troubleshooting guide to no avail. Any sensible suggestions?

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iPod connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • 3rd gen Ipod will not connect to wifi

It says "unable to join the network ___". I have connected to this network before, a million times. It will connect for 2 seconds then not work.

As long as you are 100% positive you are entering the password in correctly, try resetting your router by unplugging it for about 30 seconds.  It wouldn't hurt to also reset your network settings on your iPod Touch.  To do this, head to Settings -> General -> Reset -> and tap Reset Networking Settings.

  • My ipod will not connect to wifi. I have put in the correct password and every thing is fine but it will not connect to it. A screen pops up saying wifi is not connected. What do I do?

    ..

Does your iPod see the network that you are trying to connect to? Do you have the white bars indicating that it sees a WiFi network?
If so, the first thing you can try is to reboot your router. Unplug it from the power source and then plug it back in and try to connect again.
Try turning WiFi off and then on again. Restart your iPod as well.

  • I updated an iPod touch, an iPad 2, and an iPhone 4 to iOS 6, and all of them now will not connect to WiFi. They all give this wierd 404 error page from Apple and insist that I need to login to the network. Bad job testing the software Apple.

Reset device, reset network, renew lease, etc. None of them work.

    Does the iPod work OK?
Does it charge when connect to the computer?
Does it appear in My Computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Compare with the iPod that does work/connect.
I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1

  • IPod Touch 4gen will not connect to wifi no matter what

My white 8gb iPod Touch 4gen will not connect to wifi, I have reset the network and the entire iPod. When I got it for Christmas 2011 it worked perfectly for a few months then all of a sudden it stopped connecting, every connection I try to connect it to says the same thing; unable to join network... I am getting fed up, my first gen iPod Touch will connect to the wifi no problem, but the thing is it keeps crashing. I can't use it for more than a couple of minutes and it goes back to the home screen. If anyone could help, it is greatly appreciated!

  • My 6 day old touch will not connect to wifi .

My 5 day old touch will not connect to wifi. I have reset everything. Tried different networks.  I am willing to do a full restore but because I have no internet I can't turn "find my ipod off"
It worked when I first opened it then it kept disconnecting. I reset "all network setting" and rebooted my router and it would connect.  Now it will not connect at all
On my ipod it finds the network and when I try to put in password it say "incorrect password"

Then restore the iPod using the following
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
