IPod will not connect with my computer!

A couple of days ago, my iPod stopped synchronizing with my mac. The computer apparently does not recognize it, and it won't sync with iTunes. I've reset it, I've tried a different USB port, I tried restarting the computer - nothing. I've reinstalled the original iPod disc - nothing. My computer fails everytime I try to download the most recent updates (it reads "unable to mount, or something") I can't update or restore it either, because the computer can't see the iPod to do it!!!!
I'm not a moron! I've carefully read all of the troubleshooting guides, and many of these posts. *** am I doing wrong?! Everything was fine before the weekend! Was it the most recent update? What's going on?
I hope someone can help me...

It is better to confirm which caused the problem, the computer or the iPod itself, as the solution is different.
Therefore, please find another computer, and see it can read the iPod.

    Try:

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

You'll need to connect the iPod Touch to your iTunes library in recovery mode and restore it factory settings.  There is no other way.

  • Ever since the ios updates, my ipod will not connect to my computer or itunes.

So am unable to get music on it, etc. Is there anything I can do? Besides reinstall itunes, because that did not work.
I also cannot even go through my device managers since nothing even appears. I have a Toshiba Windows 7 Laptop.

The Home button is broken and I don't know if the Lock/Sleep button is now broken or stuck as well. I believe there may be a problem with the battery or the backlight. • My ipod touch 4g will not connect to my computer. Its not even in the device manager

My ipod touch 4g will not connect to my computer. Not to charge or connect to itunes. My usb ports work fine with everything else. I went and bought a new wall charger that came with a synce cord and it works fine, as a wall charger with wont work with my computer. Ive done the whole rebooting, re downloading itunes, redownloading apple software, the whole 9 yards.
What exactly happens when I plug my ipod touch 4g up if it turns on like it suppose to but instead of going to the home screeen with the little lighting bult in the battery is just acts like its not even plugged in. It just goes to connect to itunes screen.
I sent it to apple and they told me that whatever was wrong with it wasnt under warrenty but didnt tell me what it was. Ugh! It doesnt have water damage, I checked the indicators. So what do I do now? I would rather not go and get it fixed and spend 100 dollars. I would rather try and figure it out myself. Help please!

From what Apple said it appears you have a hardware problem. I would either pay to get it fixed or make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and discus it with them.

    Check USB connections
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
    Common errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response”, and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you see your error after changing your USB connections, continue to the next section to troubleshoot your hardware.
