I have a classic, several years old.
It will not recharge; the Apple logo flashes every few seconds then disappears.
I have tried the 'reboot' advice i.e. move the Hold switch on and off, hold the Menu and Center buttons, no success.
I have tried this many times and kept the ipod connected for several hours. And I have tried two different cords, one connected to the desktop computer, one connected to electrical outlet.Hi enbridge4,
If your iPod Classic won't charge or turn on, you may find the following articles helpful:

Old iPod Will not leave disk recovery mode; wont register on comp
Hey,
I have my old, black-n-white, 15gb scrollwheel iPod. A few days ago, the folder icon popped up. I followed Apples troubleshooting and reset the iPod to disk recovery mode. Now the only thing is that it is stuck in "Disk Mode -- OK to disconnect." and nothing i can click press will exit that screen, not even trying to reset again. Note, the hold button icon still properly shows up on the screen when it is switched.
To make matters worse, when I try connecting my iPod to my computer, it will not get recognized by the comp, and makes my iTunes freeze and I am forced to close it.
So, what is up? did my iPod die? i just dont want to buy a new one. =(Hold down the PLAY and MENU buttons to get it out of disk mode. Wait until you see the Apple logo on the screen. It may take as long as 10 to 20 seconds before it happens.

Mac OS X- Gray screen or prohibitory sign appears during startup -
Have plugged it into my pc as well and nothing happens except that.
Hold down power and home till it restarts and release after seeing the apple logo.
Still won't start? You can put it in recovery mode by holding power and home for 10 seconds and release only power after 10 seconds but keep holding home till iTunes recognizes your phone on recovery mode and restore iphone. -
IPod will only display apple logo!
Ok, I have a 30gb Color iPod, and I went to restore it, it told me to plug it into the wall, and I did, and waited and waited, and nothing happened, now, it just shows the apple reset screen. I've tried rebooting it, that does nothing, letting the battery drain and recharge, nothing... and my computer can't even recognize it... Argh! Any ideas?
Dell Windows XPAnd to add to your question, yes, you should restore it. If that doesn't cure the issue, then it needs service.

IPod will not turn BACK ON! Cold weather?
My iPod will not turn back on. I left it in a cold car for a few days while I was at my family's house, and the battery must have died while I was there. I came home and plugged it in, but it wouldn't charge or turn on. Help!!
Try sending it to the itunes store because when i left my ipod in a car for a few days it worked fine. if you haven't tried the 5 rs try those first.
To reset your iPod nano (2nd generation):
Reset
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
Retry
Retry your iPod with a different USB or FireWire port on your computer (please note that the latest iPods can only be synced through USB).
Restart
Restart your computer, and make sure that you have the latest software updates installed.
Reinstall
To reinstall your iPod nano (2nd generation):
To update and reinstall your iPod software, first download the latest iTunes software.
Next, open the new version of iTunes and connect your iPod to your computer. iTunes will then automatically check to see if your iPod needs to be updated and perform the update for you.
To then check the software version on your iPod, select it from the source list in iTunes. iTunes will display the information about your iPod.
Restore
To restore your iPod nano (2nd generation):
Warning: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure to back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library. If you use the Nike + iPod Sport Kit, see this document for more information.
How to restore your iPod:
Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.
Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
After a few moments, it will appear in the Source list in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source list and you will see information about it appear in the Settings tab of the main iTunes windows.
Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I haven't been able to find any answers that solve my problem. My Ipad will not leave the Apple logo. I hold both buttons and the screen goes black and then the Apple logo immediately pops back up. I can't get the red slider screen at all. No matter how many times I hold down both buttons the screen goes black and then the Apple logo pops right back on.
Before you do anything else, try charging via a wall outlet for a while, since its off. Then try turning it back on.
When you put the device into recovery mode it allows you to restore the device when no other options work. You do risk losing everything currently strored on the ipad itself. Hopefully you've performed regular backups either via itunes, icloud or both. Evern if you have synced content to either of those, you may not lose everything. All previous purchases have been saved in the itunes and app stores, so you can dowload them again.
while the ipad is off, press and hold the home button and plug the usb cord into the ipad. You should see a message pop up on the itunes window on your compoter screen that state it has discoverd an ipad in recovery mode.
You should now be able to restore -

We won't know until you try the procedure. The reset will not affect the content of the iPod.

I need a refund on my books I purchased from itunes because my ipod will not support them. I was on the apple chat last night and they tried to help but it did not work and they told me my ipod was to old to support them. I was wondering how do I get the refund on them?
Try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption -
