IPod will not reformat on new computer

I just got a new laptop and want to reformat my iPod to windows but i get a message saying that cannot be done. It is formated in mac. sorry couldnt find any help in forums

Normally, you should able to format your iPod to window format i.e. FAT32.
The simple way, is download the iTunes 7 and plug your iPod with your PC, and click Restore. Or, you can connect your iPod with your PC, go to My computer folder
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”

You'll need to connect the iPod Touch to your iTunes library in recovery mode and restore it factory settings.  There is no other way.
Here are instructions for getting your iPod touch into recovery mode.

  • IPod will not sync to newer computer

    Friends,
I have a perplexing problem. I am moving my computers around. I always move the faster one up to the office while the older one goes to another room. Currently I have the iPod synced to a MAC 450 GHz G4 computer. I wanted to move the iTunes and sync to my faster computer. ...I have a G4 dual 1GHz MDD. I inserted my pod into the dock and it requested that I sync to the iTunes new computer. This required that the iPod be erased. I have already moved the library to the new G4 1GHz via DVD discs as per the instructions for moving to a new computer. However, within about 4 minutes as it was writing the tunes to the ipod, a dialogue box popped up and said " Attempting to copy to the disk "my name" iPod failed. The Disk could not be read from or written to." I checked the iPod drive via disc utilities. Everything is fine. The iPod mounts with no problem. I even purchased music that the library disc is on ( I keep a separate drive for the library) every thing is good. I updated my OS (10.4.11 and the iTunes is 7.6.1 (9) For some odd reason my 1 Ghz MAC will not sync to the iPod. I then tried the ipod on the old G4 450 GHz and it re syncd...... no problem. Any suggestions ??? Trouble is .. in order to test it ..... you gotta see if it will write all your tunes.. I really want my 1 GHz to be the main "sync" one.
Second problem, but not as serious... every time I insert my pod into the dock, BOTH MACs tell me that I should use 2.0 USB and connect the dock to the back of the computer. IT is connected to the back of the computer!!!!!

Did you download the ne iTunes?(i think its 11)
If that's the case then you need to go to "music" and select that you want to sync your music.
    Hope that helps.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My Ipod will not sync to my computer.

My Ipod will not sync to my computer. There have been several pop ups saying that my Ipod Is unable to sync.It also says i don't have the correct disc? I don't know what that means. I have tried unplugging my ipod multiple times to see if it will sync correctly, but It hasn't so far.All i really need is to put music on my ipod.  Please help soon!

Not sure what the problem is. I'd try to troubleshoot it. See if it will work with a different USB Transfer cable. See if it will connect to a different PC. See if OTHER iPods will connect to YOUR PC. Usually when something like this happens it's a setting that has been changed, or unfortunately, it can also be a hardware issue (iPod connection port broken, USB Transfer cable broken, etc...) Let us know if any of these things work or if you get it fixed. Good Luck!

  • My ipod will not charge on my computer or in a wall charger or in my ihome . how do i fix this problem ?

my ipod will not charge anymore .
it won't show it's charging on my ihome or in a wall charger .
it won't even show it's charging on my computer .
can someone help me fix this .

If none of these fixes work, take it into the Apple store. barring any signs of obvious damage it's possible that your battery is sick, or that there could be something wrong within the device.
Do the troubleshooting to rule out a bad cable before you take time to go in.

  • IPod will not sync with new laptop

Alright everybody, got a tough one here I can't seem to figure out. I have a 3rd generation iPod touch. I had it synced with my now secondary desktop that has my library and everything on it. I am now trying to get my iPod switched over fully to my new primary laptop. I am running iTunes 10.5 and iOS5. The iPod will sync fine with the desktop but when I try and sync and erase with my laptop absolutely no music will transfer over. I can click the device tab on the left and look at music and they are all grayed out as if they are ghost files. Does anybody have any suggestions? For the record I have tried to restore the iPod and set it up as a new iPod on the laptop but the music files still will not sync. I can go back and plug it in to my desktop and everything syncs fine. Thanks in advance.

Did you try to transfer purchases and back up manually before your sync?
Connecting to a new computer will erase your device during the first sync. But you can use the manual backup to restore from afterwards. Make sure to have at least onwe contact and event listed on that computer as well, syncing to an empty address book will delete contacts and calendars on the ipod.
Also check your restrictions, to make sure app installation is allowed.

  • My iPod will not sync to my computer. Help!

I just got a new 30gb iPod and uploaded the music off of my sister's laptop. Now, when I try to upload the music off of my computer, it will not allow me to do it. I don't know what the problem is because it used to let me upload from both computers. I have tried manually syncing it, but when I drag the files over to my iPod link, the strikethrough circle appears. Please help!!! Thank you.

Before you start, remember that connecting to a new iTunes library will erase your device during the first sync.

After that you can connect it and set it up again. If it is not recognized in iTunes, follow this article: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

  • I have a new computer and a new itunes program on it. I want to sync my ipod but i dont wsnt to loose all that i have on it. like my apps. How can i sync it to where my stuuf fom my ipod will tranfer to my new computer?

I have just bought a new computer. I had a itunes library on my old computer, but i want to sync my ipod with this computer. I have spent a long time reconstructing my playlists and podcasts. However im afriad to sync it because all of my apps and song i may have missed will be gone. I just wante to know if there was any more effeicient way to copy my old itunes to this new computer. I would lie to know as soon as ossible because i am expected to have some new songs on my ipod ready for class in a few weeks. Thank you!

The ipod is not a backup device.  The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  the exception is itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old comptuer, to your new one.
