Ipod will not reset

my ipod will not reset i've held donw the menu and select buttons to get the apple logo however it does not reset it states for me to go to the web site for support www.apple.com/support/ipod. Also, it does not recognized the ipod on the computer when connected. any suggestions

My ipod mini fell too the other day in school. I picked it up and the screen was blank. I've tried to reset it and I've hooked it up to the computer. Itunes wont come up and it has the battery icon less than half full. But when I charge my ipod to the wall or on my radio, press the button down for 10-15 seconds, the screen lights up and it works normally. I just got it fixed almost year ago when this exact thing happened, and i the warrenty is done. so someone please reply this with the solution. i don't feel like buying a new ipod, i rather just pay 70 dollars to send it in and get it fixed.

5th gen 30 GB iPod about two months old will not reset. It isn't frozen, but it will not reset. I've done everything except restoring it and I'm hesitating to do that because I'm not sure how to back up all the music on the iPod to iTunes. There are more songs on the iPod than are on the computer. Is there some way to copy all the songs from the iPod onto the computer???

If it's not frozen, why would you need to reset it?

After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons

  • My ipod will not reset after several attempts

I recently bought a new Iphone and have successfully transferred my apps/data from my Ipod Touch (4th generation). I am now trying to "erase all content and Settings" via the settings button. All I get when the screen goes black is the apple logo. NO progress bar whatsoever. I have tried this several times even leaving the device (plugged into a power source) on all night long and still nothing. It simply will not reset. Is there something else I need to do? I have deleted all apps and anything else from the Ipod in hopes that would work but still nothing. It just locks up in the reset mode. Then when I restore it to stop the process most of the deleted apps come back. HELP!!
P.S. There is no Apple store nearby to help me with this so I'm hoping this forum will.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My Ipod will not reset.

Is it time for a new device?   Nothing I do clears the screen.  The last thing I was doing was to update the software.  Now all that is on the screen is the iTunes logo and a cable pointing to the logo.   It will not turn off or reset.

  • Ipod will not reset or restore

I have tried to reset my ipod at least 50 times, and have download the update in an effort to restore the ipod but my computer doesn't recognize my ipod so the software cannot d/l to the ipod, what can I do, is it a software issue or a hardware issue. What can I do to get it going, if anything?
    Ipod 5th Generation   Windows XP

I am having the same issue. The computer will not recognize the ipod. I've seen both the folder with exclamation point and sad ipod icons. When I connect it to the computer I get either the apple or the do not disconnect screen. It sounds like the ipod is trying to start up but then there is a clicking noise and it starts up again. Is this a battery issue? None of the home remedies have worked (and I HAVE read and tried them). Where or how can I get this fixed?
    Thanks.

  • Ipod nano 3rd generation , blank screen when attached to computer, ipod will not reset??? any help please?

    Hi there,
I have just purchased a 2nd hand ipod nano 3rd gen.  When I received it the screen was in working order but everything from the previous owner had been wiped.  I attatched to computer and all seemed well, attached it then to itunes and at first it seemed to go ok, however screen then went blank and froze.
I am now unable to restart ipod.  ipos is still being recognised by itunes so I tried to restart ipod whielst attatched to itunes to to try and put into play mode but still no joy, no apple appearing on screen.
    Ipod was fully charged.
Any ideas please as I am not the most technical of people and its slowly driving me mad
    Kind Regards
    Lindsey

How did you try and reset the iPod? To reset the iPod, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together at the same time long enough for the Apple logo to appear.  Don't be afraid to try this procedure more than once.

  • Ipod will not reset when pushing button(s)

When i push the volume down and power button for 8 seconds or longer, nothing happens except volume goes down. Is it frozen?

    Hey blaheha,
Thanks for the question. You may find the following information helpful:
    How to reset iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and Volume Down button simultaneously for at least eight seconds or until the Apple logo appears. You may need to repeat this step.
If the above step did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to power.
    Thanks,

  • HELP!  ipod will not reset

I was listening to my ipod before i went to bed last night and everything was fine. When i unplugged it this morning and tried to play a song, the screen faded and the ipod shut down. I then plugged it in and it worked. When i unplugged it, it showed a fully charged battery and continued to play the song, but when i tried to play a new song, it faded and died again.
everytime i try to reset it without being plugged in, it starts to reboot and then fades and dies. when i plug it in through my usb port on the computer, it tries to reboot, shuts down and then tries to reboot again ... over and over again.
    anything i can do?! PLEASE!
    thanks,

  • HT1414 my ipod will not reset after forgetting password

my 15 year old forgot her password an now her ipod want do anything. It just has "ipod is disabled"

You'll need to connect it to the iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it.  If iTunes asks you for this passcode before it will let you proceed, connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode instead using the instructions in this Apple support document.

  • Ipod 4g 32G not turning on, not charging (on multiple cords, both comp and wall, 4 20min), not being detected by Itunes or Windows 7 64bit OS, will not reset, tried taking it out of "DFU", NO DMG, Itunes up2date, All I'm getting is a blank black scrn

Ipod Touch 4th generation 32G not turning on, not charging.
I have used multiple cords on both computer USB and wall USB converters. I let it sit there for over 20 min with each attempt.
It is not being detected by Itunes or my Windows 7 64bit OS. I have tried all 4 of my USB ports (both USB 2.0 and 3.0), with 3 different chargers.
Holding home and power button will not reset.
Tried taking it out of "DFU" mode but Itunes won't detect it, I didn't think that would work anyway.
NO DAMAGE, I have been very careful with it, aside from a few minor scratches. (that you can't even see unless the light reflects them)
My Itunes is up to date, as is my OS.
All I'm getting is a blank black screen. It has been working fine on this computer before. I have no idea what could have happened. I'm at my wits end here.

This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • IPod classic will not reset

My iPod classic will not reset and reads as it is full which it is not. Can't do anything with it ?

yeah that's the one...... takes you back to factory settings
That's actually a restore, which done via iTunes.  A reset is equivalent to rebooting your PC.
What is the full error message you are recieving and is it from your iPod or from iTunes?

  • Ipod will not let me put in passcode how can i reset it?

ipod will not let me put in passcode how can i reset it?

If a reset (the method Kevin refers to) doesn't work, you'll probably need to try putting the iPod into recovery mode and restoring it:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If that still doens't work, your iPod may have suffered a hardware failure and will need to taken or sent to Apple for service.
