IPod will not show up in iTunes even after trouble shooting

For some reason, I cannot get m iPod touch to show up in my iTunes. It charges when it is plugged into my macbook and everything, but I cannot get it to be recognized by iTunes, even after following the trouble shooting.
The closest i got to it working was by holding down the restart buttons (the sleep button at the top and the on button on the main screen). When i did this, a message popped up saying that my ipod was in recovery mode and i needed to restore it. I clicked ok, and before i was able to click restore to restore my ipod, it disappeared from iTunes again.
Help?

update #2:
i uninstalled iTunes for a third time, restarted my mac, and reinstalled itunes. plugged in my iPod and now it is successfully working

  • Ipad NOT showing up on Itunes even after dumping/reinstalling itunes

please help anyone. I have reinstalled itunes. restarted both devices both by plugging in and unplugged USB while restarting. Done everything that has been advised. Any other ideas?? Or do I have a dud. My iphone syncs fine...
I have an older first gen intel imac but have installed leopard fully updated itunes and 10.5.8.

When you say you reset the ipad, did you shut it completely off by holding the sleep and the home buttons until the shut off screen appears, then moved the slider to off? Then back on?
If so, you can try completely resetting the ipad by going to Settings, General, Reset, Erase content and settings. _Warning; This deletes all data_.

  • IPod Classic will not show up in iTunes

Okay. I'm sure this has been posted somewhere before, but I don't have time to surf through all those posts, so here's my problem. I had an old MacBook with an iTunes account and my iPod Classic would sync up to it just fine. Now I am using someone else's iMac and my iPod will not show up in iTunes. The iMac recognizes my iPod; the icon for it will show up on the desktop. iTunes also somehow recognizes my iPod, because when I hook it to the usb, iTunes automatically opens up. I have tried uninstalling iTunes and re-installing it (twice) via the steps you get from Apple support. I've also tried misc. other tips apple gives you, and to no avail. I'm tired of trying the same old thing- nothing ever works!! Any suggestions???? Thanks!

Now when I plug it in it charges just fine just will not show up in iTunes. Sometimes it shows up as an unknown device on my computer and in the hardware device section shows up as unknown device. Thats all I got. I have tried all kinds of troubleshooting. I have took each little peice off and then reinstalled numerous times. I have even restored my computer back to square one. Still not working! I want to cry. I just want to listen to my podcasts again. They are downloading into Itunes just can't get the Ipod Touch to show up in iTunes...willing to try anything! Please help if you can! I have a 16GB and use XP with SP3. I assume all my hardware is good to go since it worked before and it charges through the USB port!

    Hello!
My iPod will not show up in the Itunes device list plus I get an error message

I've tried this with two wires, so the problem is not there.

    Anyone??

    - See:

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another USB port and computer
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

As said in the question, my ipod touch will not connect to the newest version of itunes. When I plug it in, my compter recognizes that a device has been connected, yet it will not show up in itunes. I didn't have this problem until I just updated to the new itunes. Someone help please!
