IPod will not start, charge or respond to computer or anything

All of a sudden, my iPod stopped working. it will not respond when i attach it to my computer, it will not respond to the charger - anything.
Any ideas to make this iPod not worthless?
Thanks

Have you tried a Reset?
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

If not, you may have a faulty iPod. Send it in or exchange it.

  • Ipod will not start, slider says "configuring" in multiple languages

I went for a run last night with my ipod inside my sports bra.  It was slightly damp when I finished but I have done this many times before without an issue as it is in a rubber cover.  it played music for about 45 mins after and then I switched it off.  It was fully powered before my run and so should have had power this morning.  But it did not.  When I got no joy pressing the on button I plugged it in and when it had taken some charge I got a screen which is grey and just says "ipod" on it and the slider bar has "configuring" (I think) in many languages scrolling through it.  I have tried to restart and alhtough when I press the button I get the red off slider the screen is unresponsive.  The language thing has been going on for 10 hours now.  The ipod has taken charge and shows fully charged but will not move from the initial screen as described above.  Anyone have any ideas on how to get my music back? (I'm in Afghanistan and it's pretty miserable out here without tunes, take pity please) would be very grateful for any help available.  thanks

I would dry it out by placing the iPod in a sealed container of uncooked rice fro a couble of days.
    Then try:
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Battery will not start charging

I don't know why I think it software related but my battery will not go into the charging mode. I have been watching it for a few days now and it is now down to 1% charge left and has yet to start charging it's self back up. Anyone have any ideas?

    Dpbours,
Try shutting down, removing the battery and AC and press and hold the power button several times, then re-insert the battery and AC and see if it will charge correctly.
You could also try the battery gauge reset function.
Do you have another battery you could try in the system to see if it will charge - it could be the charging circuit is bad, but this seems a rather unlikely condition.
What does the battery information tab on power manager report about the battery in terms of full charge capacity vs design capacity?  How many cycles are on it?
    Mcmarchitto,
Perhaps you could tell us exactly which system you have, what battery and a few details about your configuration?  We are probably limited to general advice otherwise.
If you have a new system T410/510 system, you might check out this tip - we have a new BIOS and battery firmware for download that could resolve this kind of charging issue.

  • My ipod will not start up.

A few days ago, I was using my ipod in my car as i've always done. I changed albums and after a few seconds of no sound, I noticed that my ipod was just skipping each track of the album without playing. I hit pause, the ipod froze up. I reset it and was greeted with a folder icon with a triangle next to it that has an exclamation point inside. I can only assume this means a file is corrupted.
I tried connecting my ipod to my ibook, but that symbol will not go away nor does my ipod show up on my ibook.
Please help. I'm hoping my ipod isn't dead!

    Neil,
Same thing on my 4G iPod. It was in the car and started skipping songs. I reset mine and all of the music went away. I tried to restore the iPod but my computer would not recognize it. I tried using disk utility and it could not see it either. I would try all of the tricks on apple's website like connecting it in disk mode use, trying to reset, plugging it into a wall, and anything else you can find. Mine was under warranty so I sent it back to apple. They replaced it with a non functioning iPod. I am sending it back as well.

  • IPod will not sync/charge/be recognized in iTunes.

I have an iPod Touch 32gb 2nd generation that is not being recognized by my computer at all. I've checked the Device Manager and iTunes looking for it, and it isn't showing up. I'm using Vista and the current version of iTunes.
The screen is recursively showing the Apple logo and the "low battery" sign over and over again as the iPod is attempting to charge - it's been plugged in well over the 10 minutes that it's supposed to charge, and it's appearing not to charge.
I've used two different charge cords, tried to reset the iPod, and restarted the computer to get it to do something. Nothing is happening.
    Can you help me?

I did, and I thought that I had tried everything. I actually just looked in my computer again for the device, and for some reason, it is now showing. It's Murphy's Law at work, I swear. My iPod is now charging.
Thank you for your help, even if it ended up not being necessary. It is greatly appreciated.

  • IPod will no longer charge, connect to my computer, or connect to iTunes!

Please help! I lost my old iPod charger for my computer, and so I got a new one. But for some odd reason, it won't charge, connect to my computer, or sync with iTunes! Another weird thing is that the new charger worked perfectly fine a few days ago, but starting 3 days ago, it just stopped working.
I've tried everything including device manager. My iPod is dead, it doesn't show the red bar with the charger icon when I try to turn it on to indicate that it's dead, just a black screen. I tried holding the sleep/home button for DFU and safe mode and all that, but still nothing!
    iPod is a 2G 8GB touch.

I have an HP laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium, the iTunes version is 11.1.5.5. About a year ago my screen broke on my HP laptop so I moved the hard drive into an older computer. I recently moved my hard drive from the old laptop back to the new.  least opened on the older laptop but now it will not open at all. I've searched all around the web and still haven't found an answer. It's becoming very aggravating. Other programs

Nothing seems to work I'd greatly appreciate the help because my iphone died two nights ago and when i plugged it in to charge it would show the battery, then spple logo almost immediatly, then the passcode and it would die and do it again, basically stuck in an endless reboot. Now it's current;y stuck in recovery mode and I want to restore it but of course iTunes isn't working, life is hard so please give me a hand apple I like apple I don't wanna get an android haha.

Doublechecking before proceeding. Are you getting an error message on the new laptop when you try to launch iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

  • V 1.1.2. Video IPOD Will Not Load onto my Windows XP Computer

So here's the dealio, I've had this Ipod Video for some time. It worked just fine on my original computer but when I got a new and more recent computer, it doesn't even register on the Ipod that it's being connected to the computer. It does however charge through the computer, which doesn't make sense to me. When I plug it through the chord that came with the Ipod to the computer, there is a ring but nothing else. It isn't on My Computer file, doesn't bring up the new hardware option and when I even try to use the CD that came with it, it comes to the "Please plug in your Ipod now." and I do but nothing happens, same ordeal happens too.
    Summary:
    1. It doesn't show on the Ipod that it's connected to the computer
    2. It does charge
    3. It can't even be used through the CD
    4. The Add New Hardware option doesn't pop up when it is plugged in.
    5. The "ding" does sound when it is plugged in.
    6. It did work with my other computer.
    Can anyone help me?
    Is it the computer?
