IPOD & Windows finally working...together

Every since I got the new ipod w/video for Christmas, I've been trying to download stuff to it with no success. My itunes didn't show the ipod being connected...basically the same problem lots of people have been experiencing. I finally got it to work after doing the "5R's" and blah, blah, blah.
This is what I did. I hope it works out for the rest of you with the same ****** problem.
1. I reinstalled iTunes.
2. Plugged in my iPod to the computer.
3. Went to the apple website. Downloaded the update: IPOD for Window 2005-11-17.
4. Waited for the updates and installation.
5. It asked if I wanted to restart computer. I did, but I kept my IPOD still attached.
6. When my computer started, it went through the normal process, but stopped in the middle. A screen came up, which looked like the computer was figuring out whatever was going on. Then it continued with the rest of the start up.
7. When I opened iTunes again, the iPod was recognized. Everything after that was fine.
I hope this works because I know how frustrating this whole thing can be, especially after realizing you've spent 9 hours on the computer to end up with nothing!!! Good luck!

How I got my iPod to FINALLY work

When my husband bought my iPod for me, he didn't purchase Applecare. But since I reported problems with it while it was still under warranty, I could still purchase Applecare. I really recommend doing this if you can. They (usually) service it for free.
To make a long story short, my computer (powermac G5) wasn't recognizing my ipod, so therefore I couldn't download anything on it...very frustrating.
So, I returned it to Applecare, and they sent me a new one, still didn't work. And we did this again, it still didn't work. UNTIL I was told to plug it into the back of the computer...it works.
For some reason, my iPod only works in the USB port in the back of my hard drive tower.

Although I'm not familiar with your particular computer, some USB ports are not connected directly to the computers motherboard, and those that are tend to work better with the iPod because of this.
This may be the reason why your iPod was instantly recognized when you changed ports.

Iphones and ipods need to work together.

I'm having some very bad issues with my ipod touch.
Last night I needed to charge my iphone, so I plugged it into my laptop for a little while.
I normally don't do that, but my regular charger was not available to me.
I never told it to sync with my laptop, and I think it must have, because today when I plugged my ipod touch into my laptop it was no long accepting the touch.
And god forbid itunes accepts my iphone AND my ipod. I don't waste my iphone battery power playing music, so I need my ipod to take care of my musical needs.
So I have to go through the inconvenience of resetting my ipod. I have attempted to reset my ipod EIGHT TIMES, and each time itunes freezes, or cannot complete the reset.
I get error 14, and the troubleshooting page has been of no help.
I really like the ipod, it's always been a handy device, but I am sick and tired of this. If my ipod and iphone cannot coexist peacefully on the same computer, then the iphone must go.
By the time I need to get a new cell phone, it will not be with Apple.

Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
To prevnet in future turn off autosyncing so that you have to overtly start a sync. To turn off go iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says "Prevent iPods...".

Ipod and external Hard drive don't work together

I got a dell optiplex gx260 which has 6 2.0 USB ports. My IPod (80GB classinc) library is stored on external HDD. When I connect my HDD to the comp and point iTunes to the HDD library everything is good and I see my songs. As soon as I connect iPod it shows up “unknown device” in a device manager. If I disconnect HDD and connect iPod only windows finds it OK, but as soon as I plug HDD back in iPod disappears. I’ve tried reinstalling sys and inf files, pointing towards updated drivers and all nothing still the same thing, tried every port and every combination on the computer USB ports still the same thing iPod and HDD don’t want to work together. Please advice, thanks.

I got the same problem here but not just with IPod. When I power up my external disk (with aux power supply) my usb stick (or IPod or printer or scanner or other devices) on other ports get disconnected. All devices did work toghether some months ago.
I think this is related to a hardware problem. Things began to fail, when I tried to co-supply 5V to a device connected to my usb bus. I possibly toasted some logic on the motherbord.
Testing your hardware on a second system may help you. Or have a look if a USB stick instead of IPod gets disconnected too. This may prove that its not IPod related.

Macintosh formatted iPod won't work for Windows

Hi, I have 2 computers, an Apple iMac and a Windows Vista laptop. My iPod used to be Windows formatted, which worked for both Windows and Mac, when I restored it though, it was restored to Macintosh. I tried transferring some files to my Vista only it says my iPod has to be restored to Windows to work. Is there a way to get around this?

You can get around it if you want to purchase some 3rd party software that allows Mac formatted disks to be used on a Windows platform.

First of all, why did you say yes to Nero Back up before researching what it does with files already on the HDD? When I install Nero, the Back Up is the first thing I disable, it is a nagging pain, there are much better backup programs available. There are several file recovery programs out there to recover deleted files, that is, if that is what happened. Also, if you haven't overwritten the files, so you should be able to find them.

As Acrobat 6 is a pretty older version and it will surely not work with windows 7 .
There is no possible way to make them run together .Either you need upgrade your Acrobat version that is compatible with windows 7 or downgrade your OS if you want to stick to Acrobat ^ .
However I would recommend you to upgrade to the latest Acrobat DC ,that is the latest version Adobe has launched and is compatible with the OS you use.
Also ,it is loaded with new features that will simplify your work and make it convenient .

Looking at the details for this mic, it appears that the app has to have the option to use the internal specak when a mic is plugged into the headphone jack. Specifically:
NOTE: When MityMic is plugged into your iPod/iPhone you won’t be able to use the onboard speaker for sound output. You must remove the MityMic then play back your recordings. (The Skype app has an option to enable the onboard speaker even when the mic is plugged in, so you could use MityMic for placing Skype calls. However most other apps do not have this function.)

Replacement iPod - Still Not Working

Last week I sent my 30GB to Apple for service (after having it only a month) and I recieved my replacement yesterday, but I'm still having issues.
When I first got it home, it hooked up to iTunes and my laptop just fine, but then it stopped transferring songs and I got errors and I had to restore it.
Since I restored it last, I cannot get it connected to the computer properly. iTunes does not recognize it and when I hook it up to the installer, it says "Initializing..." and just sits there forever, doing nothing. A few times it's told me to restart the computer, which I've done, and then it went back to the "Initializing..." I also tried it in data mode, and still nothing. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and the iPod updater (both the 2006-03-23 update and the old 2006-01-10) and I have been all over the website and I have tried ALL of Apple's suggestions. I tried hooking it up to another computer - a desktop - and it wouldn't work there, either, which leads me to believe that it's the iPod and not the computer.
It's bad enough that I had to get a month-old iPod replaced, but now the new one won't work, either. I'm very frustrated. Anyone have any suggestions?? I'm about to just send it back to Apple again....

I finally called customer service and the guy was very helpful but nothing he had me do worked, so I'm sending it to Apple... AGAIN!
I'm my third iPod doesn't work either, I will be very upset. Hopefully the third time will be the charm.

IPod Nano stops working after 1.0.2 firmware update

I just updated the firmware of my ipod nano last night to 1.0.2. I was using thru out the day when it suddenly stops playing the next music in my playlist. My ipod shows the play icon but there is no sound and the play track is not moving. Tried to play a different music and videos but the same problem occurs. Tried to reset is several times but doesn't fix the problem will try to reset the firmware later when I get home.

Just got the nano 3rd gen yesterday. Already had a Nano 1st gen. Running Itunes 7.x on windows 2000 os at work (1st gen nano used there). Needed new Nano in a hurry, so went to RShack and bought one. Ran home....Itunes says wont work with Nano 3rd gen. Went to download upgrade for Itunes, and find out the upgrade won't run unless running windows XP or VISTA.... Borrrowed a laptop with XP OS and got latest Itunes. Happy...happy...joy...joy, now I can get Itunes and new Nano to work together. Now gotta get music off old Nano and into new Nano usiing borrowed laptop. (Found a program on net called 'SimpleCenter' to do this.) Xferred music from old Nano to Itunes on laptop, then transferred entire library to new Nano. (Was out of reach of wireless network while doing this, so was unable to 'UPDATE NANO' when prompted by Itunes.)
Sooo...
Took laptop over to its owners home (and wirless network) and Updated the firmware to 1.0.2. When supposedly complete, the new Nano starts to Reset continuously (Apple Logo....Menu Screen......Apple Logo.....Menu Screen....Apple Logo etc. etc.) Oh 'darn' ........
So frustrating.... Disconnected new Nano from laptop during the couple seconds the main menu was showing.
For grins went to play the solitaire game that comes with new Nano, but comes up with error message saying it (the game) won't load. (Worked fine earlier, before the 'upgrade')
Oh Mannnn..... I find that there a 'ton' of other 3rd gen Nano usere having same problem with firmware upgrade 1.0.2.
I will wait for some response from Apple on this issue for a few weeks before I take the device back to dealer. I expect that this problem will be resolved by Apple in quick order in the form of a new firmware upgrade (or something similar). I really don't want to hassle the dealer at this time, and can live with the old Nano at least until the end of November, when I will be needing both Nanos for a special event.
