IPod with no songs

pleease help meeee...
for some reason my iTunes won't go into my iPod. I've had the thing for about 3 months and it has just started acting strange. The songs are all on my iTunes and NONE of them have the exclaimation point on the column on the far left. The location of the songs on the computer is known my the iTunes but my iPod keeps telling me "Songs on the iPod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist". I thought perhaps there was something no functioning properly with the playlists but I am at a loss. It's sick how dependent I am on my iPod and I am hoping my problem is not one that requires a repair.
If ANYONE could help me, that would be greatly appreciated.

Which one worked?
If the FAQ worked, it is because you deleted a playlist the iPod needed.
If it was a restore that worked, it was most likely a simple software glitch that was easily rectified. It shouldn't happen again.

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

  • Updating iPOD with a song without using iTunes

    Hi all,
I was wondering if it was possible to:-
    1) Connect an iPOD to a computer
    2) Automatically add a song to the iPOD from the computer
    3) Disconnect the iPOD once the song has been added and synced.
This system must work with multiple iPODs, hence the need to bypass iTunes.
    Is it possible?
    iPod   Windows XP Pro

    Hi,
The machine the iPods connect to will be owned by different people.
The goal is to add a chosen MP3 to each iPOD as it is docked with the computer and then, once disconnected, the MP3 will be shown on the iPOD.
Thanks for getting back to me,
    John

  • Connecting iPod with 5000 songs to Mac

I have a 4th generation iPod with about 2000 songs on my iMac G4 computer running Mac OS X (10.4.7) and iTunes 7.01. I have recently been given an iPod 5th generation with color screen with about 5000 songs. I also have the installation disc. This latter iPod was configured for a PC but I understand this makes no difference. I would like to install the newer iPod with all of its songs on my computer. I am not concerned with losing all of the songs from my earlier iPod since I have them all downloaded. My question is this. How do I go about installing the newer iPod without losing the songs already on it and do I need to clear all of the songs already in my iTunes folder? Is it possible to have both iTunes selections running at the same time?

  • We have 2 ipod nanos and 1 ipod with video--Can we share songs?

Me, my husband and my son all have ipods. We have 3 different computers, each with a separate ipod account. Can I plug my nano into my husband's laptop and update my ipod with his songs, and can he plug his into my pc and get my songs? He pays for all of the music, so it would be great if we could share all of the songs.
What would be the best way to handle this situation?

  • IPod skips mid-song

I have had this problem with just about every iPod I have had (5gb gen.2, 15gb gen.3, 40gb gen.4 and now 60gb gen.5). I will be listening to music and half way through a song it will jump to the next song ~ a bit annoying. Anyone else have this probelm and know why?

    Hi Deb,
There seems to be a problem with the 5th Gen Ipod with skipping songs.
    I am experiencing it.
Dont worry about the Dhead that wrote earlier, he does not know what he is talking about.
I have 2 x 5th Gen Ipods and both are doing it.
While my 2 x 4th 40GB Ipods are working fine! both are using the same iTunes and same song files, so it cant be the song files nor itunes otherwise I would experience it with my 40GB 4th Gen's.
Apple needs to have this resolved!
Hopefully they will bring out a update shortly, til then we have to wait.
Ps - The 2 x 5th Gens were sent back and replaced and the replacements are doing it so it must be a fault with ALL 5th Gens

Anybody got a word of advise? I've tried resetting the iPod but get the message that it's not possible cause i'm not connected to internet. I am though. Tried managing music manually. I've tried all the usual stuff.

Go to Settings > General > Usage and see how much is shown available and how much is in "Other".

The music does not belong to you.  You have no legal right to it and there is no way to keep it.

  • I have an older Ipod shuffle with many songs loaded on it. How can I transfer these songs to a new computer since the old computer is no longer available

I have an oder Ipod shuffle with many songs loaded on it. How can I transfer ths songs to a new computer since the old computer is no longer available?

I had the same problem with my iPad, i couldn't get the newer version of itunes because the computer was too old and my iPad couldnt sync with the old itunes. I got a PC from school a few months later so that solved the problem for me. Unfortunately i don't think there would be a program to put your music on your iPod, iTunes should be the only way to transfer files to Apple devices. What operating system are you running and what version of it is it?

  • HT1386 I cannot sync my iPod with the Playlists that I want. For example, I have all the songs in my classical Playlist checked but it doesn't appear in my iPod after syncing. Also I don't get an opportunity to review sync options.

I cannot sync my iPod with the Playlists that I want. For example, I have all the songs in my Classical Playlist checked, but after syncing it does not appear on my iPod. Also, there are no opportunities to change syncing options. None are listed in the left column of my iTunes screen.

    Hello Jefflo64,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with syncing music to your iPod.  For issues like this, I recommend resyncing the music to your iPod.
If you are syncing automatically, resync content to the iPod by unchecking "Sync Music" and clicking "Apply,"  then checking "Sync Music" and clicking "Apply" again.
You can find the syncing steps in the following article:

  • I have a 2GB IPOD with only 385 songs on it.  I downloaded 2 CD's to iTunes but when I try and sync the IPOD I'm getting an error message indicating there isn't enough space.  I thought a 2GB would hold at least 500 songs.

I have a 2GB IPOD with only 385 songs on it.  I downloaded 2 CD's to iTunes and when I try and sync the IPOD I'm getting an error message that says I don't have enough free space.  I thought a 2GB IPOD held at least 500 songs.  I've even deleted songs from from iTunes library.

The figures that Apple used to use when saying how many songs coud fit onto any particular iPod were based on a 4 minute song at a Bit Rate of 128Kbps and that's the bit rate that songs sold by iTunes used to be in. However, now the iTunes Store sells songs at 256Kbps (as do many other MP3 stores) - which means that each song now uses twice as much storage space than before.
So if your songs have a bit rate of higher than 128Kbps, and/or they are all longer than four minutes each, that's why 385 songs is filling up your iPod. You can check how much space is being used when the iPod is connected to iTunes Library. Look on the Device panes for the capacity bar at the bottom of the window. How much space is being used by Music?
    The solution is either:
Use iTunes to make 128Kbps versions to go onto your iPod - or,
Sync the iPod using Playlists and then choosing which Playlists you want on it. Smart Playlists may be the answer - you can set Smart Playlists up so that they automatically add and remove songs from your iPod, so that there is a constant change of songs (according to the rules you set)
