IPod won't allow disconnect

My boss recently got a silver 2GB iPod Nano as part of a promotion deal. He was having trouble getting the iPod to work (it wasn't showing up on iTunes), so asked me to see if I could figure it out. I followed the instructions (on common problems) and was able to get the iPod to show up in iTunes as well as DL music to it. The problem came when I wanted to disconnect the iPod from my computer (at work) and give it back to my boss to fill with his choice of music.
The Do Not Disconnect keeps flashing and when I click on the eject button (or the eject under the file tab), I get a message that says it cannot be disconnected because other files are being used by the iPod. The same message appears when I try and restore it to factory settings. What files could it be using? There's nothing on the iPod yet (I'd already removed the test music I put on it to see if it worked).
This is a little frustrating as everything else about the iPod seems fine and to work. Help would be appreciated on this.

  • Ipod won't allow me to check all songs for syncing.

Hello. My Ipod Shuffle won't plaiy all of the songs that it used to play, so I opened my library in Itunes. Some songs were unchecked, and these were the ones that are not playing. I tried to check them, but am unable to. The songs will play if I double click on them, however. I checked my preferences and I do not have the box checked that says "Sync only checked songs". Any ideas? Thanks!

The checking and unchecking of songs is done in iTunes, not on the shuffle.  And that may affect what is loaded in the shuffle during automatic syncing.  So first check what is actually loaded on the shuffle.
If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible, from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
In the sidebar, find your shuffle under DEVICES.  Click the small trianle to the left of the shuffle name to drop down its content list (indented below the shuffle).  Click on Music there.  The list of songs currently on the shuffle is shown to the right.  Are the songs that do not play on that list, or not on that list?

  • My ipod won't allow me to enter the wifi code needed through Safari?

I've reset it, I've reset network settings, forgotten the network, etc. with no joy.
The wifi is accessed through a password, which the ipod accepts, but then you have to log in through safari and enter another code but safari won't bring up the log in page. I wouldn't mind but it was logging in perfectly all week and just STOPPED on saturday for no reason.
    Can anyone help please?

  • Ipod won't allow me to play music!

    Hello,
    I can't play any music,
When I press play it stay's at 0:00 and I don't hear anything except click wheel sound.
Video's without any sound STILL work but Video's with sound won't play.
I connected my ipod to my computer and tried to fully charge it up but no use . I also resetted like 50 times so that won't work.

    Hello G iphone
No, you would not need to get another phone unless you want one. But the main thing that needs to be done is to sync the media back onto your iPhone. I have provided articles for troubleshooting the skipping, managing of the sync, and finally an article to download the purchases again through the iTunes app.

  • My ipod won't allow me to turn the screen sideways anymore. how can i fix that?

recently i found out that my ipod no longer lets me turn the screen horizontally while typing or surfing safari. i have the ios5.1 update and i wonder if this is a problem or is there somewhere in the settings that lets me change it because i tried looking for that and i couldn't find anything. right now it's getting disturbing so pls help.

Next to the battery indicator icon is there an arrowed circle with a padlock inside? Id so that means you have the screen-rotation lock turned on. To turn off, double click the Home button, swipe the dock row fully to the right past the music controls and tap the icon.
    Otherwise try the standard fixes:
    - Rest. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod

  • My classic video ipod won't switch back to regular video mode after using it on an elliptical. The port still allows me to charge and works on the elliptical and treadmill but it will no longer change modes to allow me to watch my shows on the ipod screen

My classic video ipod won't switch back to regular video mode after using it on an elliptical. The port still allows me to charge and works on the elliptical and treadmill but it will no longer change modes to allow me to watch my shows on the ipod screen

From the iPod's Main Menu choose Videos -> Settings and make sure TV Out is set to Off.
Otherwise, try a hard reset as well.  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • The image came up on my screen saying that I need to connect my iPod to iTunes, but I have a passcode, so it won't allow me to. And I want to try and turn it off, but my touch screen doesn't seem to be working either. HELP!

The image came up on my screen saying that I need to connect my iPod to iTunes, but I have a passcode, so it won't allow me to. And I want to try and turn it off, but my touch screen doesn't seem to be working either, so I can't even turn it off since you need to "slide to power off." HELP! I'm leaving on Thursday morning for six and a half weeks, and I absolutely need my iPod with me. I was just at the Apple store today for problems I was having with ANOTHER product, and I don't really want to drive all the way out to where my nearest store is (which is not very near) if I can figure this out at home. My iPod was working totally fine earlier today and last night, so I don't know what happened! Please, please, PLEASE HELP!

Now it's allowing me to reboot (hold down power button and home button and restart), but every time it just comes up to the same thing: the connect to iTunes page. Which is not possible. And I refuse to restore my iPod. PLEASE HELP.

  • How do I get my iPod nano to allow me to disconnect?

I have a barely used iPod nano 2 2GB, which I use with Windows Xp and iTunes 7.1. It started fine but a few days on it refuses to allow me to unplug the USB cable from it, regardless of whether it's plugged into the Laptop or not.
It plays the songs I've imported into it fine but when I switch off, by holding down the play/pause 5 or so secs it shows a large green battery with a black plug in its middle and "charged" written above it. I can turn it off though.
I've restored it once but the **** plug just won't allow me to pull it out!
Any suggestions will be most welcome, especially as I'm out of the UK for some time.
ipod nano 2 2GB   Windows XP   Acer TravelMate 4400

Well, seeing as no-one online could resolve this highly complex issue for a first time Nano user - I had to go to my osteopath. He showed me that the docking plug has 2 tiny clips to press when you want to release. Of course, such a comlex piece of technolgy doesn't get a mention in the basic booklet and none of you guys could imagine anyone reaching such heights of technological details.
    thanks anyway

  • I am getting a runtime error message that won't allow itunes to open when I plug in my ipod.  Any suggestions?? I already rebooted my computer.  It worked fine yesterday.

I am getting a run time error message that I've never seen before, it won't allow me to connect my ipod touch with windows.  It says:  An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
I have no idea what this means but it was working fine yesterday when I connected it.
I have rebooted my computer and nothing has been fixed.

    Did you do this:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • IPod nano 3G syncs, disconnects, but won't re-connect.

    _*Background info:*_
I've had my iPod nano (3rd gen) for about 9 months, and don't remember having a problem like this in the past. I hadn't used the nano for a while, but just recently added a new Serial ATA hard drive to my computer (replacing a parallel ATA hard drive), and now am wanting to use the nano more.
_*The problem I am having is this:*_
Now having a new hard drive, I had to reinstall iTunes and re-build my music library (had the mp3s backed up...).
So when I connect my iPod now, it seems to recognize it fine but it wanted to install my ENTIRE library - which is far too large to fit. It then gives me an error saying there's not enough space, and disconnects the iPod.
Now, I realize all I need to do is select the "Selected playlists" button under MUSIC tab when the iPod is connected, but here's the problem: the iPod will not RECONNECT when I choose that option and click "APPLY". Similarly, after it's sync'd (or attempted to, given the size issue), and disconnected, it will not re-sync either.
I also tried temporarily decreasing my library size so that it WOULD be able to install the whole library on the first go, as it's trying to do by default. This worked in that it sync'd fine and installed the entire (smaller) library, but I still have the issue where I can't change the settings under the MUSIC tab (to sync ONLY the selected playlists, not my entire music library) and click APPLY - it simply won't reconnect after sync'ing and disconnecting. The iPod, after disconnecting, appears to be on and the screen is lit, but it has the normal menu-browsing appearance, not the "CONNECTING/CONNECTED" appearance.
*Any idea why my iPod won't reconnect, or let me apply settings changes, after it's sync'd and disconnected in iTunes?*
    _*Technical Info:*_
    - Windows XP (on PC), Service Pack 2
    - Serial ATA Hard Drive
    - 4-port USB PCI card (to which I am connecting my iPod... I've tried connecting it to my 2 built-in USB ports, also - which don't work well; long story - but I have the same problem).
    - iPod Nano 3rd Generation
    - latest iTunes install (downloaded yesterday 9/18/08 from iTunes website)
    - I don't get any 'exclamation point' errors in my Device Manager for USB/iPod connection.
    - Finally, note that I did implement a 'fix' for my Serial ATA hard drive. Turns out that WinXP recognizes it as a Mass Storage Device, and hence, gives the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray for my hard drive. I put a DWORD of "DisableRemovable" in my "nvatabus" folder (nVidia ATA bus; motherboard) in HKEYLOCALMACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services. I don't think this would interfere w/ the iPod in anyway, but thought it was worth mentioning.
    Thanks a lot,
    Dan

Also, I just tried syncing media other than music, such as pictures.  And the sync worked just fine.  So it seems to be something going on with syncing music to my iPod nano.

Hey, as far as I know you need a sim card to activate after a restore
It however does not have to be a fully working sim card, just not blocked or with a pass code, I repair/refurb. some iPhones and can only advise to try and get a free sim card from a provider supported on your phone and activate it with this,  or maybe someone can lend you theirs for 5 mins?
To clarify, I have heard there are ways around this, but they sound dubious.

  • Message won't allow me to sync ipod touch

Hi sorry title is so vague.
I have 8gb touch. Loaded itunes ok, started to load details of ipod, when I got the part of the registration when i was asked if i wanted to be able to track my ipod i clicked on the option "not now". This screen now loads up every time i open itunes and won't allow me to sync with my pc. I have removed itunes and reinstalled with no success. I have even tried deleting the message, but i'm unable to. Every time i open itunes this message page remains. Its not an error message as such, but it is stopping me from using my ipod

    - The iPod's screen is telling you you need to connect the iPod to the computer and restore via iTunes.
    - Try rebooting the computer and resetting the iPod and then restoring.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Next see if placing the iPod in DFU mode will allow a restore
