Ipod won't charge due to water damage?

Unfortunately, I dropped my Ipod in the sink and as soon as I can, I wiped all the water off and dried it.
Good news is, It works.
But Its having problems with the speakers and the charging (more importantly, the charging)
I removed any debris inside the charging port but it still won't charge, it does charge IF I push the charging cable really hard into the port but obviously I wouldn't be doing that for a long period of time and it might damage the port (even further)
So what do you guys think?
Thanks

Make an appointment at the genius bar. It will need to be replaced. And STOP trying to use it. It's a fire hazard now.

My iPod touch isn't being recognized by my pc. The lock button on it won't work due to water damage, and a friend of mine fixed the problem by restoring it on his computer. How do I restore it without the lock button?

    first try:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    next
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    - After charging for 1/2 hour or so, does iTunes see the iPod?  If yes, restore the iPod from backup.
    - If no, se if placing the iPod in recovery mode will make it visible so you can restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:

Got a replacement iphone 4 today.  Could not recover contacts etc due to water damage.  New phone won't let us make or receive calls until we hook up to itunes.  Don't know what that means.  Any help would be appreciated.  Phone problem or Sprint problem?

If you have iTunes on your computer, plug the phone to the computer running iTunes. You will be guided by iTunes.
Download iTunes here (if you do not have it):

  • 5G 30G Ipod won't charge or sync

My Ipod won't charge when connected to my laptop. It does charge when plugged into my car radio transmitter and dock. When I plug it into my laptop fully charged I get a message from windows explorer asking me if I want to scan and clean it to repair any problems. I have done this. It starts to sync with itunes (still fully charged) and then I get an error message saying the disk cannot be read. When I disconnect the Ipod there is almost no charge on the battery. I have restored the Ipod through itunes and reinstalled itunes.
I have replaced the battery and charged it again but I am still having the same problems.
I have synced an ipod shuffle on the same computer with no problems.
Any help would be appreciated! thanks.

come on guys? can anybody help?
I have run the manual diagnostics and the USB cable is recognized. I let the battery completely discharge for 5 days, rebooted it up and its draining power from the usb cable to operate, but there is no software recognition (other than in diagnostics) of the fact that the cable is plugged in. In disk mode it shows charging but does not recognize it is plugged into a computer. In normal mode it does not show charging or syncing. OS X does not acknowlede the ipod exists and windows does not recognize the device (several computers, all recognize other ipods).
I'm sure this must be a software issue but i cannot restore as i cannot get the computer to recognize the ipod! Help

  • My macbook pro won't charge due to an electric shock

My macbook pro won't charge due to an electric shock that was caused from a charger that was in a bad condition, the computer didn't turn off when it happened but it stopped charging. When the battery died it refused to charge with any charger, I even bought 2 new ones. I sent it to apple and they are asking $650 for fixing it! The problem is that the macbook is only a year and a half old and I live abroad where there is no apple branches or any of that. I had to send it to the USA first. Also, I might lose everything saved on the macbook after fixing it! Any solutions? please help!

  • Old ipod won't charge

Older ipod won't charge.  30 gig, white, I've shown videos on it, so it's one of the earlier color iPods.  I gave it to my mom 2 years ago and she never used it. I've tried a wall charger and plugged it into my computers, no luck.  I can't get it to turn on at all, so can't reset or restore.
    Thanks for any help!

Checked some identifiers on Apple website, apparently it's a 5th generation.

  • 'Device not optimised for iphone', repeatedly displayed. I have heard that it may be the device port in the bottom due to water damage.

Some people have been able to rectify this. I believe it to be a hardware issue as I have restored the phone and yet the problem remains. I have read elsewhere that this may be due to water damage in the port. I write because it seems some people have been able to fix this, by either cleaning the port or by 'placing the phone in a bowl of rice'. Conversely, some have had permanent damage.
I am a lorry driver, and while working outside, the heavens quite literally dropped their pants and soaked me. The phone was in my pocket, once i realised, I got my phone to a dry place. It did not seem to be wet, however I know these things can be very delicate.
To summarise, has anyone had this same problem? How did you get on? I have my phpne insured, however, I want to exhaust every avenue before hadning over my device to Vodafone for two weeks until they eventually realise that they cannot fix it and give me a new one. To make things worse I have just bought some Dr. Dre Beats headphones, they are now rather redundant.

If the clean dry toothbrush does not help the situation. Then clean the dock port with lint free cloth moistened with isopropyll alcohol very carefully. Especially clean the pins which are on top of the dock mid rib. It may take several cleanings to get the job done, if even possible at all. The isopropyll alcohol will clean corrosion if present. Isopropyll alcohol is the solvent of choice in all water damage repairs.

  • Charged $299 for water damage, from an occassional rain drop in top charging port

I have been charged $299 for water damage to my motorola Droid. The water is from an occassional rain drop coming in the top charging port. I contend that is a design flaw. Anybody else run into this?
    Subject shortened.

Of course it is a design flaw.  That is why I have a Casio Commando. My first smartphone was a Verizon blackberry and it was the worst for water damage...it got a foggy screen after being through a rainstorm inside a water resistant bicycle handlebar bag.  No phone should suffer damage from casual contact with water, folks.  People are 70% water after all.  You could put some of these in your pocket, go jogging, and ruin the phone...sort of defeats the purpose of the phone don't you think?
Good to see that Verizon was so reasonable about repairing it, don't you think?

  • My iPod won't charge - on any power outlet.

My iPod won't charge - it said for a while that the battery was empty (to the point of unusable) when I plugged it in, and left it plugged in for a a couple of days and now it will switch on but the battery is empty. I have tried resetting it (menu and middle button), and I have also tried to drain the battery and charge, but it does not work. there are no apple stores where I am /no genius bar so I can't go in store - and the model is recently refurbished - I swapped it out a few months ago - so shouldn't be facing any problems. Please help!

I have also tried charging it through several computers and numerous
    power outlets but none work.

  • I can't charge my 4th Generation iPod Touch. There's no water damage and I replaced the usb cable.

About a month ago my iPod touch went completely dead and I didnt charge it for a few days. I tried to charge it on my laptop, but it didn't charge at all. The screen didn't even turn on. I noticed a few knicks on the usb cord so I just replaced it. I tried the same thing again and tried to charge it on my laptop. Still no luck and it didn't turn on. It's like my pc isnt recognizing it at all. I went through Apple's support steps and it doesn't have any water damage. I'm not really sure if its something wrong with the battery or what. I'm not familiar with apple products. Can anyone help? Thanks.

In what app are you trying to use a capital letter?
    Did it work before?

  • IPod won't charge, see little wires inside where i usually charge it.

i have iPod 2009 model and i was charging it but when i pulled the iGo charger out of it i saw little wires inside it and now it won't charge. any ideas on how i can fix this?

If you are not even getting the battery/red indicator you may have a failed battery.  Did you force the iPod to restart after getting to the auto shutdown?  Forcing it to restart after it shutdown due to low battery will often ruin the battery.  If it is not recognized by iTunes on your computer, you need to take the iPod to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs test it to see if the battery has completely failed.
