The title says it all-I've tried multiple USB cords, and it well acknowledge other iPods, and mine won't be found on other computers.
I've tried multiple USB ports as well, but the screen just stays as if it were normally on. I've tried all the 5 r's, except restore, because it won't connect. It well connect to the wall chargers and docks using the same USB cord.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

IPod won't connect more than once
When I plug my iPod into my computer, my iTunes registers and connects and syncs. Perfectly fine. But I want to change some settings on my iPod, such as the album artwork and playlists, and whenever I try to sync it again, my iPod won't connect and my iTunes can't find it, even though its plugged in.
Help?Typically when only one device can connect to the AirPort base station, it may be because it is not properly configured as a NAT router ... which is its default configuration.
One option is to perform a "factory default" reset on the AirPort, and then, try connecting one or more devices to verify that they now all get network/Internet access. Once verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure it per your networking requirements. -
3rd gen ipod won't connect with firewire.
3rd gen ipod won't connect to itunes with firewire. USB connects rarely but drains battery quickly. I've rebooted the ipod and computer and updated itunes. No effect. Any remedies besides buying a new ipod.
Answer to Question 1: - I connected the iPod with the USB, went to Disk Utility and erased the iPod. Now the iPod works with USB.
Question 2 is still unanswered. Ideas? -
10 gig iPod won't connect.....
Greetings
I've changed the original battery from the 1st gen 10 gig scroll wheel, but now the iPod won't connect.
It has lost its charging indicator, but feels warm to the touch. I can still play all the music that is on there, but can't see it via iTunes or finder.
I can see the ipod via the firewire, i.e. about this mac, more info, firewire, shows that the iPod is connected, but has it listed as version 0.0.
I've tried this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363 but no joy.
Any ideas from the brains trust?
CheersMake sure you have tried a different FireWire port, and shutdown (power off) and restart your computer if you have not done so since having this issue.
You can try a different FireWire cable. If this is a 1st gen iPod, it uses a regular FireWire (400) cable.
Since the iPod is seen (somewhat), does the iPod show up in Disk Utility? If so, use Disk Utility to reformat (erase) the iPod's hard drive in the Erase tab. Make sure the iPod's hard drive (not the volume indented under the sidebar) is selected in the sidebar. Select +Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as the format type. If that procedure succeeds, run iTunes again and if it is seen now, use the Restore button to install and initialize the iPod's software.
It is possible that when you opened the iPod to replace the battery, you inadvertently disconnected the hard drive. Therefore, the iPod is "seen" by the system, but the hard drive is not. I have also read some reports that if the replacement battery is just a tad too thick, it puts pressure on the hard drive and causes the platter not to spin. So you may want to open it up again, check the hard drive connection, and try it with the back side off. -
I´ve forgotten my passcode and my ipod won´t connect or appear in my PC - any ideas?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

My iPod won't connect to my Mac... Help?
My iPod won't connect with my Mac anymore.
It connected last time I tried it (four months ago, about). It's a Gen Two or Three (I don't know the difference, sorry) and I haven't changed anything about my Mac since then, or my iTunes.
If you can help at all, please reply. And don't hesitate to ask for more info.
EDIT: Oh, and I've tried resetting the iPod, putting it in Disk Mode, using a different USB port and restarting the computer (several times).
The iPod says "Do Not Disconnect" and the iPod symbol appears on Finder and I am able to access it, but it won't appear in iTunes.
Message was edited by: HortauxI was having the same problem--no iPod on Desktop, no iPod in iTunes. This fixed it for me, at least:
1. Open Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. (My iPod DID show up here, though it wasn't mounted.)
2. Select the iPod in the disk list on the left.
3. Click "Verify Disk." (In my case, this revealed an underlying error.)
4. Click "Repair Disk." (If this works, great--stop here. It didn't work for me...)
5. Click the "Erase" tab at the top of the right-hand main pane.
6. Choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) for Volume Format.
7. Click "Erase" button at bottom right.
Almost immediately, my iPod showed up on my Desktop, iTunes launched, and it was as though I had completed a Restore of the iPod.
Hope that helps....

40GB Ipod Won't Connect...?
My 40GB iPod won't connect to the computer when i plug it in. The display comes up with "Do Not Disconnect", but iTunes won't open or anything. It just stays like that.
I've tried connecting to another USB port, restarting the computer and iPod, but nothing seems to work. The only time I use a USB is for my nano because it's not supported by a firewire; otherwise, I'm not a big fan of USB's and use the firewire for my other pod. Have you tried a firewire?

I would like to move my songs from my ipod nano back on to my freshly reinstalled windows and iTunes. Can that be done? I turned off automatic syncing so I can charge up the ipod. Help!
You won't be able to, just by navigating out the iPod's photos folder in iTunes. You'll likely need the help of some sort of third party software to get the job done for you. One thing you'll want to keep in mind about these photos is that they are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnail versions that were optimized for viewing on your iPod's Video smaller 2.5" LCD display.
Here is one such product.

IPOD won't connect to Windows or show up in itunes...HELP
Have my daughter's 30 GB 5th Gen Ipod here. When you plug it into the computer with the cord, it will turn on, and charge. However I get a balloon come up that says "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not regognize it. For assistance in solving this issue click this message." I clicked the message. It shows the Ipod in Device Manager as an "unknown device" and when you try to update the driver, it says there are no better drivers to install than the one currently installed. I have tried the 5 R's step by step several times, and that does not work. I can not restore it because it does not show up in itunes. I have tried it on other computers and it does the same thing. It plays the music she has on it, works fine, but we can not get it to connect to either computer. Her friend's Ipods connect to both our computers fine, and will download songs etc. I also have tried putting it into disc mode to see if it would go into itunes so we can restore it. Same message comes up when you have it in disc mode. I have also tried the "tap on the palm" suggestion, which made no difference at all. It just won't connect. I do have the newest version of itunes downloaded and installed.
I am at my wits end with this thing! PLEASE help me get this thing to connect.

IPod won't connect to iTunes..have tried it all
Ok...so a few days ago I plugged my Ipod 160gb classic into my computer to sync to Itunes. Itunes then froze up, so after I ejected it, I reset it. I plugged it back into Itunes and now everything is gone off the Ipod. No big deal, everything was backed up.
So now when I turn the Ipod on it goes straight to language select menu. I plug it into Itunes and it shows up on My Computer but won't show up in Itunes - it stays froze on "connected -ejected before disconnecting" screen. So I disconnect, and the Ipod goes straight to the black/Apple logo screen for a few seconds before going back to the language select menu.
I have done the hard reset and the same thing happens.
I have done the right click/format to Ipod under My Computer with no results.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes.
I have tried different USB cables to connect the ipod to the computer.
Apple Device Manager is installed. I've started/restarted it as well.
I have put the Ipod in disk mode and connected to Itunes. It usually freezes on the "do not connect" screen. Sometimes in disk mode, Itunes will say that my Ipod needs restored, so I click on restore. It will go to a dark black screen with the Apple logo with a progress bar at the bottom. Before the bar fills up it will go to the regular black Apple logo screen for a few minutes before going back to being frozen on the "connected -eject before disconnecting" screen. The ipod still won't be shown on Itunes either.
I have run device manager, updated Apple Device Manager, used the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers folder and says its up-to date.
I have gone through the steps in these-
iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes
and iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
with no results.
This is my smart data:
Retracts: 75
Reallocs: 200
Pending Sectors: 16
Power On Hours: 65
Start/Stops 20234
Temp: Current 33c
So I'm guessing after all the troubleshooting, it would be something hard drive related? Especially since the start/stops have to be high. I just want to make sure what it is before I try replacing the hard drive.
I know variations of this question have been posted a bunch of times, but I've tried everything I've seen on here. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. Not Charge
