Ipod won't connect to itunes on Mac

Updated to 2.0 this evening and now my itunes on my mac won't recognize my ipod. It keeps throwing error 0xE800001 at me. Everything worked fine when I started the update. I've tried it on several ports on my computer all with the same issue.
Funny thing is it works on my PC laptop but not my Mac Pro.
Anyone else have this problem?

On and I have tried to restore the ipod several times, including deleting the iphone 2.0 update from the computer and having it download a fresh one. All to no avail.

    Hello,
I am distraught because my IPod Classic won't connect to ITunes.  My Mac won't even recognize it after a few seconds, and I have to keep resetting for the Mac to recognize it.  Mac OS can't repair the disk, and said to reformat.  I tried to partition, but that failed with the error message: couldn't unmount disc.  I don't mind losing all the files, and am really just hoping that it will work again.  I have virtually zero technical knowledge, and thought I might reach out to see if any savvy users know a trick or two that I might try.
    Thanks for all your help,

    Try:

When it says place the iPod in recovery mode use one of these program

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

  • My ipod won't connect to Itunes after I attempted to restore it, it now has a white bar underneath it. Help?

My ipod was stuck in the connect to itunes sign, I have no idea what that's called. anyway, I connected it to itunes and tried to restore it. After several failed attempts, it seemed to be working, and showed an apple logo with a hollow white bar underneath it. From my undestanding, it was supposed to fill as it was restored, but Itunes came up with an error saying it failed to connect, so now it is frozen like that, and won't turn off or shut down when you hold the home and lock button for ten seconds It won't connect to itunes now. I dont know what to do. Please, any help would be good.
It's a second generation Itouch. and i think it has had the most recent update, im not sure.

The white bar means it is doing the update.  I hope you didn't unplug your iPod while it was updating.
Hold down the power and home buttons at the same time for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.  After that you can let go.  You may have to restore your iPod depending on the extent of the problem.

  • Ipod won't connect to Itunes?

    Hi,
I bought an ipod for my birthday in June.
    1)
I've been trying to connect to ibook it would not work via USB so I tried using a Firewire port. Not sure why it was not working via USB.....the version I have is 10.3.2 so it should work through USB.
Is there anyway I can connect through USB on my version IBOOK??
    2)
My ipod is not connecting through itunes not sure why? the auto update songs option is on in preferences on ITUNES so it should work. I've done all possible. IPOD is charging but not connecting through ITUNES.
Please help someone so I can upload music....any ideas how to solve this?

    Hi,
I've not had any useful feedback as yet so my best bet would be to take your G4 into a Mac shop...thats what I'm doing to do.
I'm sure its got to do with my operating system.
Maybe try going back a few updates and not update with the latest one. Its wierd because my IPOD use to work and its not recognizing any sort of connection anymore only charging and this is no use.
I've restored it numerous times because but can't even restore because I have the latest version on my Ibook and its not recognizing any connection so I'm stuck!

  • Must do a restore, but iPod won't connect to iTunes 7.0

    Hi,
I have an iPod mini that I bought last year. I updated to iTunes 7.0 a few days ago and everything was going fine, but today I noticed that all of my songs were gone (on the iPod).
I tried to plug my iPod back into my laptop to put all the songs back into it, but iTunes gave me this message:
    http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/3981/error2ii5.jpg
"iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod "IPOD". Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings."
The thing is, my iPod can't connect to iTunes, so I can't get to the Settings section to restore my iPod. What can I do? Is there another way to restore the iPod so that it will connect to iTunes?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I have the same problem; after installing iTunes 7 I get the error message stated above but can not view summary since it can not connect. I still have all my songs though. I have tried to reset and going into disk mode, but seems my iPod can not go into disk mode.
Is it possible to get the older version of iTunes back? Thanks,

  • My ipod won't connect to itunes because of my stupid passcode!!

Hello everyone, don't mind about the word "stupid" well it has been a year that i can't use my ipod because it can't connect to itunes. First if all, my ipod isn't charged so often... so, one day i charged my ipod and there is a screen that means that i need to "connect to itunes". I went on my computer, opened up itunes and connected the ipod to my computer. Then a message pops up and says: "This ipod can't connect to itunes because it has a passcode. So i have to put in the password so it can connect" I can't connect it because the screen on my ipod says i need to connect to itunes so i can't put in my passcode. I don't know whats wrong with these kind of devices, and i'm not very lucky because the ipod that i have, it doesn't belong to me. my dad found it in his cab. and he gave it to the cab's company for 2 weeks, the owner did not come to take it. so the company gave it back to my dad and my dad gave it to me. and if i give to the apple company, they will know the real owner and i would be in trouble.

Place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode:

when i try and connect my ipod to my mac on itunes the ipod starts blinking saying do not disconnect the itunes just freezes and i have to force quit and disconnect the ipod through the finder.

Delete iTunes and reinstall version 7.7 Then reset your iPod by holding the center button along with the Menu button for a few seconds. Try connecting again and see if this works.

  • IPod won't connect to iTunes..have tried it all

Ok...so a few days ago I plugged my Ipod 160gb classic into my computer to sync to Itunes. Itunes then froze up, so after I ejected it, I reset it. I plugged it back into Itunes and now everything is gone off the Ipod. No big deal, everything was backed up.
So now when I turn the Ipod on it goes straight to language select menu. I plug it into Itunes and it shows up on My Computer but won't show up in Itunes - it stays froze on "connected -ejected before disconnecting" screen. So I disconnect, and the Ipod goes straight to the black/Apple logo screen for a few seconds before going back to the language select menu.
I have done the hard reset and the same thing happens.
I have done the right click/format to Ipod under My Computer with no results.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes.
I have tried different USB cables to connect the ipod to the computer.
Apple Device Manager is installed. I've started/restarted it as well.
I have put the Ipod in disk mode and connected to Itunes. It usually freezes on the "do not connect" screen. Sometimes in disk mode, Itunes will say that my Ipod needs restored, so I click on restore. It will go to a dark black screen with the Apple logo with a progress bar at the bottom. Before the bar fills up it will go to the regular black Apple logo screen for a few minutes before going back to being frozen on the "connected -eject before disconnecting" screen. The ipod still won't be shown on Itunes either.
I have run device manager, updated Apple Device Manager, used the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers folder and says its up-to date.
I have gone through the steps in these-
iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes
and iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    with no results.
    This is my smart data:
    Retracts: 75
    Reallocs: 200
    Pending Sectors: 16
    Power On Hours: 65
    Start/Stops 20234
    Temp: Current 33c
So I'm guessing after all the troubleshooting, it would be something hard drive related? Especially since the start/stops have to be high. I just want to make sure what it is before I try replacing the hard drive.
I know variations of this question have been posted a bunch of times, but I've tried everything I've seen on here. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

  • IPod won't connect to iTunes/Computer

Soo I plug my iPod into the cord which is plugged into the computer, the computer makes the little beep that lets me know its detected a device and... Nothing. It doesn't show up in iTunes. It doesn't show the little charging symbol on the iPod. Nothing.
I've tried two different cords and three different USB ports. The annoying thing is it worked two days ago, and had been working prior to that for several months. Nothing has happened to the iPod or computer that would cause damage. They've both literally been sitting in this room for two days. I can plug my iPod into the wall charger and it will charge just fine. It can connect to the internet, etc. But it won't connect itself to iTunes via the USB cable... and I'm unsure of what to do next. I've googled around and checked the forums but I haven't found anything that works.
    Assistance :3
Also, I can't download iOS 6.1.2, it just fails everytime after the verification process. I've never failed verification before so I'm not sure if this is a widespread issue or just me... The error I guess you would call it says "Software Update is not available at this time. Try again later."

  • IPod won't connect to iTunes - pairing record is missing...

I get this iTunes message when connecting my first iPod, a brand new iPod touch to my mac:
"iTunes could not connect to iPod "iPod" because the pairing record is missing."
What does that mean? (Can this have something to do with other iPods that have been connected to my iTunes earlier?)
I followed the instructions Apple had to offer and reset the iPod etc.
    <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60950>
I reinstalled iTunes 7.6 from my admin user. Then the iPod was recognized on this account with empty iTunes. Registered the iPod und updated software to 1.1.3. Restarted back into my regular user. Still same message, except now iPod "ihPod"... Now, where is that pairing record?

Yes, I restarted the machine after reinstalling iTunes 7.6, but that did not help.
Today I reinstalled again, this time from my users acount and that did the trick. I still don't know what or where the pairing record is. But installing iTunes on the spesific users account fixes it, it seems.

  • My ipod won't show on Itunes or Mac

    Hi.
I have my Ipod since a few years and it has always work good. I think it's Nano gen 5 (the first one with a camera). Before, I was able to syncronize it with Itunes without any problems but now I can't see it anywhere, like it's not connected to my Mac.
I know that the problem isn't the outlet on my ipod because I can charge it on my stereo system. And it's not the USB on my computer either cause everything else is working. So I can't see where the problem is.... I have the latest version of Itunes and my ipod is charged. It also doesn't show on my computer at all, anywhere (doen't appear in the finder). Help? Please..!

In a situation with a data connection problem, there are four possibilities
Software on computer - Since you said it worked before, assuming there have been no drastic changes to your system, you can probably rule out a software problem on the computer.
USB port on computer - If you have not already, I would shut down (power off not just restart) the Mac and disconnect all USB devices, including any hubs.  Start up with only standard keyboard and mouse connected (if normally used).  Do a Reset of the iPod again
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1320
Run iTunes and connect the iPod (by itself) to a direct USB port on computer.  The fact that you said it charges on your "stereo system" but it does not on the Mac's USB port (same cable?) makes me think there may have been a temporary issue with the USB port, or some conflict with other connected USB devices. But if this test does not help, since you have confirmed the port works with other devices, you can rule out USB port problem.
USB docking cable - You can rule out a faulty cable by trying another Apple device with the cable you have, or by trying another (known-good) cable with your iPod.
If you can rule out these three things, the fourth possibility is a hardware problem on the iPod. Although you said it charges on you "stereo system," the cause could still be the iPod's dock connector, because it has different "pins" for data and for power.  Or it could be a problem on the logic board.  Or something else.
