  • Downloading old purchases onto new computer

I have just bought a new computer after my laptop died. Will I be able to download the purchases I have made on  my old laptop onto my new computer or will I have to buy all the albums again?

It depends on what country that you are in as to whether you can re-download them for free : re-downloading. If you are not in a country where you can currently re-download past music purchases then if they are on your iPod then you should be able to copy them to your new computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases, otherwise have you got a backup of your purchases on, for example, an external drive that you can copy to your computer ?

  • Itunes won't sync old Itunes onto new computer.

I just got a new computer and installed Itunes and signed in. My library had nothing there. I authorized the computer, and deauthorized my old computer. I plugged my ipod into my new computer, and it recognized it,  but didn't update my empty library. I clicked on "On This Ipod" and all my music from my old library was there. I looked at the summary of syncing at the music section, and it will empty my ipod completely and put my empty library on my ipod, and I do not want that. My question is, how do I get my old library onto my new computer?

when I click my iphone, everything is blank.
Do you mean there's no text in the summary pages?

  • New ipod won't download old ipod mini's library

My iPod mini got stolen in the airport a couple of weeks ago on my way to Chicago. While there, I broke down and bought a new 20g iPod with color display. Now, my computer will not recognize my new ipod. I've tried deleting and reinstalling, but errors flash up, and when I finally managed it, it simply will not recognize my new ipod. I'm at the end of my rope, and having severe iPod withdrawal...

Please explain to us your current situation not leaving out any details
We may be able to get the iPod listening-time that you need so much

  • Please help! My iPod won't transfer purchases to my new computer's library.

"Attempting to copy to the disk 'C:\' failed. An unknown error has occured (-69)"
This came up while my iPod was in the process of transfering my purchased songs/videos. Does anyone know how to fix this? I would appreciate the help!

Point 2 might still be applicable, it explains finding which file is causing the problem.
"Watch the display at the top of the iTunes window while your iPod is being updated. The name of the problematic file should appear in the display right before the error appears"
If the file is corrupted in some way you'll most likely have to put the iPod in Manual mode and delete it unfortunately. Further down in the article is this passage "To prevent future issues, you should delete the unusable files, then restore them from a backup". The problem then might be do you have a back up or not?

  • IPod won't download playlists it once did

My IPod won't download several playlists that it once did. I get a message saying that I have old iPod software and that I should download the latest software. I've done this several times and it still won't download these playlists. My G4 15" powerbook has the latest updates for 10.3.9.
    How may I fix this?

  • HT1329 I just downloaded iTunes to a new computer.  It's been a while since I used iTunes on my old computer.  I don't see any of my playlists on the new computer.  What is the easiest way to transfer my playlists without having to recreate each one?

I just downloaded iTunes to a new computer.  It's been a while since I used iTunes on my old computer, so the new one has a totally different user interface.  I signed on to my account and saw my music but I have no playlists on the new computer.  What's the easiest way to replicate or restore my playlists as I had them in the old computer and in my iPod?

OK, thanks for the response.  I'm copying it onto a memory stick to transfer it to the new computer.  Still have two questions:
    1. Since there is already an iTunes folder on the new computer, created when iTunes was downloaded, where exactly do I copy the old folder onto the computer so that iTunes can find it?  In the old interface, there used to be a field where one could designate the path to find music and I don't see that in the new interface.
Assuming the above takes care of putting my playlists onto the new computer...
    2.  How do I add music that is currently stored in a back up file but was not on my old computer's drive?  I'm worried that I would have to add these one by one somehow, and there are a lot of songs.
    Thanks again.

If your external drive does not have an independent power supply, you may wish to consider a couple of lower-cost options before tossing the drive. Bus-powered drives have no external power source and must get all their power from the computer. They can exceed the computer's USB energy budget.
    Cheapest option:
1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
This gets power from two of the computers USB porst sna can provide enough power to wake up an under-performaing bus-powered drive.
If you don't have enough ports to use this, try the next cheapest option:
Newer Technology 7 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Hub with Power Adapter for Mac & PC
Such a hub has a an independent power supply to make up for wahat the comptuer fails to provide.

  • How do I transfer the music content on my old IPOD (click wheel) to Itunes in my new computer for subsequent transfer to a new IPOD

How do I transfer music on my old IPOD( click wheel) to Itunes on my new computer(Windows 8) for further transfer to a new IPOD nano

If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
    1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
    2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
    3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod onto your computer. And here is a guide about how to transfer iPod music. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • I downloaded itunes on a new computer and signed in, how can i get my existing music, etc onto my library without deleting it on my ipod, if I synch it will delete all my stuff and i will have nothing on my ipod

I downloaded itunes on a new computer and signed in, how can i get the existing music, etc from my ipod to my library without losing it? HELP!

Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
The ipod is not a backup/storage device.

  • HT201413 when i installed itunes in my old computer it would disable my CD burner and I was only able to burn through itunes. has this problem been resloved or will i have the same problem when i download it into my new computer?

When I installed itunes into my old computer (loaded with Windows Vista) it deleated my CD burner and would only allow me to burn via itunes - I had to go in to Best Buy to have them fis the problem but was told not to download new updates for itunes or it would do the same. with this fix I am not able to burn CDs from itunes which is a bummer.  If I download itunes onto my new  computer (loaded with Windows 7) is it going to do the same thing or has  this problem been resolved?

Copy them from your old computer, or your backuo copy of your old computer. to your new one.
The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  the exception is itunes purchases.
