IPod won't download playlists it once did

My IPod won't download several playlists that it once did. I get a message saying that I have old iPod software and that I should download the latest software. I've done this several times and it still won't download these playlists. My G4 15" powerbook has the latest updates for 10.3.9.
How may I fix this?

  • IPod won't connect more than once

When I plug my iPod into my computer, my iTunes registers and connects and syncs. Perfectly fine. But I want to change some settings on my iPod, such as the album artwork and playlists, and whenever I try to sync it again, my iPod won't connect and my iTunes can't find it, even though its plugged in.
    Help?

Typically when only one device can connect to the AirPort base station, it may be because it is not properly configured as a NAT router ... which is its default configuration.
One option is to perform a "factory default" reset on the AirPort, and then, try connecting one or more devices to verify that they now all get network/Internet access. Once verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure it per your networking requirements.

are you getting an error message at the point when the sync stops? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.

  • My iPod won't download songs from my laptop

When I purchase albums from the iTunes store on my MacBookPro and sync my iPod, it won't down load the albums.

Joy - I had this same issue. You didn't mention whether or not you've recently updated to iTunes 5, and updated your iPod. What happened to me is that after I updated to iTunes 5, the system required that I update my iPod as well to version2.3. The iPod update 2005-09-06, though, apparently has a bug of some sort, and will not update properly. (others have had this issue) If you go back and get update 2005-06-25 and install that, it may fix your problem. Mine cleared up immediately once I did this.
    Good luck.

  • 1st generation ipod won't download music

My firend just bought a 1st generation ipod and was only able to download a couple songs. He asked me if I could try and download some of my music on it cause I have a 20GB ipod of my own that works perfectly fine. But when I plug it in it just sits there and wont respond while I watch the little spinning circle so then I cant use my mouse. I already had to shutdown my computer to get my itunes to start working again. I dont know what to do with it...help!

This is the 1st gen iPod shuffle, that looks like a white USB flash drive, with a built-in USB plug?  FYI - This document shows the four shuffle models
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1719
If it's a 1st (or 2nd) gen shuffle, select it in iTunes.  Toward the top of the iTunes window, there are two buttons that say Settings AND On This iPod.  The Settings screen is probably what you already used, "to set certain options."  Click on On This iPod.  This screen shows a list of songs that are currently on the shuffle, and you can use this screen to remove songs from the shuffle (and change song order), once you have songs on it.
At the bottom of this screen, there are Autofill controls.  That is one way to load the shuffle.  You can "automatically fill" the shuffle from your iTunes music library, or from a playlist.
To add individual songs, drag songs from your iTunes library and drop them on the shuffle.  The easiest way to do this is to use the iTunes sidebar (along left side of iTunes window).  If the sidebar is hidden, from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  Find the shuffle in the sidebar, under the heading DEVICES.  From your iTunes library, drag songs (or other audio items) and drop them on the shuffle.

  • New computer, ipod won't download songs

I just got a new computer, and I downloaded the Pantera itunes essentials, but they won't go on my ipod. How do I fix this? Thanks.
Also I have some Maiden and Priest songs on my ipod that aren't on the new itunes, how do I get them on there? Syncing doesn't work.

OK, your seem to have a more basic problem. The touch and iTunes communicate via a piece of software called the Apple Mobile Device Services. It sounds like this is either not loading or is disabled on your computer. The best way to fix it is follow the directions in this technical article from Apple: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567

  • IPod won't show playlists

I just updated my iPod to 1.2.3 (I think that's what it is) and since then, I have not been able to get playlists to appear on the iPod Video (5G).
I use the iPod entirely with video content. I have set up some Smart Playlists in iTunes 7 to organize by shows, and I have set up the iPod to sync the Music, Movies and TV Shows from each of the playlists. When I plug the iPod in, it syncs like normal (this method had worked fine before I restored the iPod). When I click the arrow next to the iPod in iTunes, all of the Playlists appear as they should. When I disconnect the iPod though, there are no playlists on the iPod (but all of the media is there through the other menus.)
Since these playlists are entirely video, is there any setting I need to change to show video playlists on the iPod? I can't figure out why this is happening!
    Thanks-

I have a vague memory that there may be a bug in video playlists. If I recall correctly (and I'm getting old and senile so who knows), if you put a music track in, the playlists show up. It certaily wouldn't hurt anything to try.
    Happy New Year!

  • My ipod won't download songs!!!

    please help me!
whenever i connect my ipod, it charges, but it won't load songs i recently added! what do i do????????

Check your update settings. Connect your iPod and click on it's icon in the iTunes source list (the narrow pane on the left). This will bring up the preferences tabs in the main pane on the right. The first tab you'll see is Summary, look for "manually manage songs and videos", if there is a check mark there then the iPod is set to update manually and you have to drag songs from the iTunes library to the iPod to load them on. If you want to update automatically you need to remove the check mark from there (I would also remove the "enable disk use" check mark unless you want to use the iPod as a removable storage device) and click the Apply button in the right hand corner:

  • I bought a HD Tv series but to find out my IPod won't download HD how do I re-download the regular version to sync onto my IPod?

Recently I spent a large amount of money on a TV series just to find out it will not download onto my Ipod. I discovered that my Ipod will not sync HD videos, but only the normal video. How am I able to re-download the TV series to sync onto my Ipod? P;ease help me!

To prevent HD versions from being downloaded in the future head to the iTunes Store, click the Purchased link, and then select TV Shows and remove the tick mark next to Download HD when available.  You should be able to download the SD version now from under this same page.

  • 20GB ipod won't download all music from itunes

I downloaded itunes 6.0.5 and now when i update my 4 yo 20GB ipod it says: Some of the items of the iTunes music library were not copied to the iPod because your iPod software is too old. And then it tells me to go to apple.com to update - Then, it does not update any purchased music.
    Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Have you run the iPod Updater? You will need a minimum of OS X 10.2.8 to do so.

All three chapters are in iTunes and are playable. Chapters 1 and 2 won't transfer to iPod. Chapter 3 works fine. All chapters are checked and the chapter titles are present-just no content.

If you haven't already, try clearing (R click>clear or uncheck)Chapter 1 and 2 from your iPod and then re-synch manual or auto. Do Chapters 1 & 2 play on iTunes?
