IPod won't go past the "Welcome" page on iTunes?

I broke my old iPod screen and got a new one yesterday. I restored everything from my old device through iTunes on my MacBook Pro, but whenever I try to put music from iTunes to my iPod, I find the "Welcome to your new iPod" screen. I got all my important Apps and purchased music back on and would really like to drag the music from iTunes to my device. Any help? Or should I just set it up as a new iPod?

Delete the existing firmware file from the computer. It is located here:

Then place the iPod in DFU mode and then restore via iTunes

Are you running Snow Leopard or later?
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;

  • Won't go past the start page, even after reseting

I try to go onto firefox, firefox starts, however it won't even go past the start page. I've tried a number of different things and nothing seems to work. I've tried a few different websites and nothing, it says it's loading but then remains on the same page.

If that does not help, try to

  • My Ipod won't go past the apple screen

I unplugged my ipod from the computer and it was stuck on the "eject" screen, so I reset it, and now it just keeps reseting itself. It won't go to the main menu screen, it just keeps reseting and going back to the apple. I tried putting it in disk mode and restoring it, and it seemed to work, but then it just went back to resetting. And I tried to restore it again in disk mode, but now it says "Ipod cannot be found"

I have the same problem. Anyone know how to fix it?

  • Windows 7 won't load past the welcome screen

I'm trying to boot up my laptop but it keeps hanging on the welcome screen. I go through the password page and then it just sticks on the welcome screen with the little spinning circle. It does the same in safe mode but the circle is completely frozen
on the welcome screen and then it gets no further. I don't have a windows recovery CD. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I suggest boot into Recovery Console to perform System Restore to test the issue.
    1. Remove all floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer using the computer's power button.
    2. Do one of the following:
If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windowslogo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon
prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.
If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to repair, and then press and hold F8.
    3. On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Repair your computer, and then press Enter. (If Repair your computer isn't listed as an option, then your computer
doesn't include preinstalled recovery options, or your network administrator has turned them off.)
    4. Select a keyboard layout, and then click Next.
    5. On the System Recovery Options menu, click
    System Restore.

  • Can't sync iPod & can't go past the register page

I've had my nano for a little over a year and haven't had any big problems until now. I only have the 2GB and had too many songs when I tried to sync my iPod. So I deleted songs I did not need and tried to sync again. Then a message pops up saying "Songs on the iPod cannot be updated because of all the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist". I did not do anything to the playlists. Then all of my songs were removed from my iPod. I still have all the songs in the library of iTunes and it is now under the 2GB limit. I tried to restore my iPod but I am also stuck on the register screen when I click on my iPod. I tried to register it but even after I put in all my information, nothing happens. I've also tried to not register or register later and neither work. I have tried everything. I have all the newest software downloaded. I went through and changed the drive as somebody suggested earlier but it did not work. Should I just throw in the towel and get a new ipod or does anyone have any suggestions to fix it? Thank you.

tried to restore my iPod but I am also stuck on the register screen when I click on my iPod. I tried to register it but even after I put in all my information, nothing happens
Set your screen resolution to at least 1024x768.
a message pops up saying "Songs on the iPod cannot be updated because of all the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist".
iTunes is trying to sync a playlist which does not exist.
    Select the iPod in iTunes.
    Click the Music tab.
It hsould be set to Sync selected playlists.
Tick one or more of the playlist you want on the iPod.
The playlists must be no larger than the space on your iPod else all the songs in the playlists will not fit onto the iPod.
only have the 2GB and had too many songs when I tried to sync my iPod. So I deleted songs I did not need and tried to sync again.
You don't need to delete any songs from your computer.
Just add/delete songs from the playlist(s) (not from iTunes) you have selected to sync to the iPod.

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Editor might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash.   Here are some steps you can take to try to fix the problem:

  • IMac won't get past the Apple page when turned on...

I just bought a new iMac about a month ago. It is the 21.5" basic system. Of course the first thing that I did with it was update the software and have set it to update automatically, so everything should be golden there... Today when I walked by and turned it on it came on like normal, but that was it. The white screen with the Apple in the middle came on and then the loading icon popped up underneath it. It has been loading since... After about an hour and a half, I shut it off by holding the power button in, unplugged the modem, unplugged the iMac then plugged only the iMac back up. Turned on the power again. It powered up but did the same thing. Is something loading, updates maybe? If so it is something different than any of the other updates it has uploaded so far. THis is a new one on me.
I might add that this is my first Mac. I went with it because I get tired of rebooting my PC each year (I actually just did my PC again...bummer). Now if the iMac has already crashed, I am severely dissapointed in Mac. I have not downloaded anything that I shouldn't have, or anything that was even suspicious. In fact the only real things I have downloaded are Firefox and some of the add ons and a trial version of PS.
Can anyone help me, tell me it is normal and it will be ok?

It sounds like the update may have bee interrupted somehow and became corrupted, possible a power spike at your house. However I wouldn't get too upset. You have 90 days of free telephone support so now is a good time to use it. The number is in your owners manual.
You can also try doing a SMC and PRAM resets, this is probably what Apple will have you do to begin with so you can be pro-active and try them and if they don't fix the problem you can just let the tech know. The instructions for doing each reset are:
    _SMC RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
    • Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    • Release the power button.
    • Attach the computers power cable.
    • Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    _PRAM RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    • Turn on the computer.
    • Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    • Release the keys.
Also this is a good time to plug AppleCare. AppleCare will extend your warranty and phone support to 3 years from the date of purchase. If you don't already have it I'd recommend it, Apple charges $169 however you can pick it up from Amazon for less. You can only get it while the machine is covered by it's one year warranty. Let it go 366 days and you're out of luck.

  • Photos update won't open past the "preparing library" page

iPhoto just updated to Photo 2015.  I can't get to my pictures because the app won't open past the "preparing library" page.
The iPhoto update, under Apps, won't let me resume the update - I get an error "this item is temporarily unavailable".
    Any ideas?

    Hi wolfey_j
    Welcome to apple discussions.
Drag and drop the plist for iDvd to the trash followed by a full restart of your mac and then repair permissions from apple's disc utility (application > utilities > disc utility)
The plist for iDvd looks like this:
    com.apple.iDvd.plist
If that fails to resolve this issue then delete iDvd using this free download from apple's web site:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/appdelete.html
You'll need to re-install iDvd again (custom install from the software that shipped with your mac or any retail copy of iLife'09). And lastly run apple's software updater from system preferences so all is up to date again. (not a bad idea to repair permissions one more time after updating all apps.)
Hope this resolves the issue/s but if not just come on back.
    Good luck.

  • What if a person no longer has access to the house in which the card itself, but iTunes recognizes my login, shows my balance, won't let me get past the "code" page?

What if a person no longer has access to the card itself, but iTunes recognizes my login, shows my balance, won't let me get past the "code" page?

What pops up is the page that tells me I can use my camera to take a photo - since I don't have access to the card, useless.  I am caught going round in this loop - there's that one button, no other option.  Thanks in advance.

It connects and is recognised by my itunes and computer, but still after restoring it, it just won't get passed the logo..what can i do? what is the problem?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My MacBook Pro won't go past the white apple page

My computer won't go past the white apple page with the spinning wheel when you turn it on.

    This should fix the problem:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
