Ipod won't reset/restore or play more than 10 seconds of songs

help! i just purchased a refurbished 20 gig ipod, it was great for the first two weeks then suddenly last week it started to move very slowly and would only play the first 10 seconds or so of each song. i could hear a clicking sound inside. then the next day it would only go from the apple logo to the folder/! icon. i tried to reset, could not,put it in disc mode and tried to restore but when I attach it to the computer, the computer starts to run realy slowly and if I am able to get the restore screen up it has either said "service error" or "cannot mount ipod". what should i do?

Fast user switching in Windows XP is not supported.
For the "cannot mount error", if your iPod is recognized in "my computer", changing the drive letter can sometimes resolve this issue.
Click on control panel/admin tools/computer management/disk management/right click on the iPod to re-assign the drive letter.
Choose something lower down the alphabet, say 'M' or something similar.
The iPod can be confused by any other storage devices assigned a similar drive letter even though they may not connected at the same time.

Network OK but not a single APP on ATV can play more than 1 second

My ATV 3rd gen (full HD) is at latest update, network is OK (I see movie trailers and all) but ALL applications (Netflix, Vimeo, InternetRadio, PodCasts, etc) cannot play more than a fraction of a second then it takes me back to that APP main screen. I tried rebooting, but to no avail. Since I am at latest software version I don't know what to do but bring it to full factory reset (and then reprogram everything, network, Netflix, HomeShare....). Any suggestions???

Thanks for the quick response, but I assure you the network is not the problem. I can see the posters of the new films (not the trailers, wrong wording). This means that I get info from Internet. But ANY and ALL application cannot play for more than a fraction of a second. As an example, I start a Netflix movie, it starts to play for about 0.5 seconds and then goes back to Netflix previous screen. Same thing happens for ALL application (InternetRadio plays one or two notes then goes back to InternetRadio channels screen). Same thing for Vimeo, Podcast, etc. I'd like to solve it without a full factory reset..... :-(

Why won't my iTunes 11 play more than one song at a time?

Songs appear in "Up Next", but at the end of the song being played they disappear and nothing gets played next. This makes iTunes useless as a music player. Please help.

My iTunes is doing the same thing: when I select a playlist and hit "play," if shuffle is turned on, iTunes plays only one song and then stops. If shuffle is turned off, it plays just fine (one song after another, in order).
Select the songs, right click - get info.
Select the Options tab and Uncheck *Skip when shuffling*.
Also, when I hit shuffle, it doesn't rearrange the songs in the playlist like it's supposed to.
If you are sorting on any column besides the very first on before the track name, the songs will stay displayed in that same sort order.
When you play the playlist, the list will jump around and be shuffled.
If you are sorting on the very first column, the list will be displayed in the shuffled order and play in that order.

Premiere Pro wont play more than a second of rendered video

I've just started a new project in Premiere Pro CS4.
The project renders fine but as soon as I try to play it back it will only move the play head about 8-10 milliseconds before jumping back to where it started. The weird thing is the video plays fine in bridge as it's just a regular QT file. But as soon as it's in premiere it just wont play for any length of time. Not sure if it's related but when scrolling along the time line, past where the playhead is located, the timeline will scroll for a bit and then jump back immediately to where the playhead is.
The video scrubs through with the playhead absolutely fine. The porblem just occurs when trying to play the footage back.
Any ideas?

There's really no such thing as a 'regular' Quicktime file, as so many different kinds of video can be held in a Quicktime wrapper, and not all of them are meant to be edited. Generally speaking, Premiere works best when used with standard camera formats such as DV, DVCPRO HD, HDV, etc. Other kinds of video are often hit or miss. The symptoms you describe generally occur when someone tries to use video that was simply not meant for editing. The recommenced solution is to just not edit that file, but instead only use video you shot yourself using a proper camera format.
Or, use consumer software that may be more forgiving of the media you feed it.

Perhaps try resetting your iTunes Store Cache.
Go "Edit > Preferences". In the Advanced tab, click the "Reset cache" button shown in the following screenshot:
... and then click OK.
Restart your iTunes, and head back to the Store. Are you getting full previews now?

Premiere Pro and Soundbooth won't play video/audio for more than a second.

Ok, so my issue is that Soundbooth won't play audio for more than a second. It plays a quick bit then stops. Premiere Pro also does the same with video, it plays a quick bit then stops. I don't know if it is connected or not but when I try to change the audio output in Soundbooth to System Default I get this error:
I set the permissions to premiere and soundbooth to full but it didn't work. I've tried UnInstalling and ReInstalling but that didn't fix the issues either. All of the other programs seem to work. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Here is the fix.
1. Open Finder and navigate to /YOUR_HD/Library/Preferences
2. Rename or move to the Trash the file: com.apple.audio.AggregateDevices.plist
3. Relaunch The Program

The apple tv won't play more than one song on my playlist. And why can't there be playlists under "Music" and well as "Computer"?

As I said these issues can be very tricky to pin down and it can be a process of elimination.
I had issues last year with connection problems - I thought it was an itunes update as there were threads elsewhere about multiple connections being established. One day I restarted my router and the problem was fixed. A few years ago my AppleTV1s were hanging after extended use - it was the Netgear router overheating ( aknown fault with that particular model).

OSS doesn't play more than 1 sound at the same time [SOLVED]

Hello,
I use OSS to replace ALSA, it used to work properly here. Today I noticed that I can't play more than one sound at the same time, something which I used to be able to do.
Also, ossxmix doesn't operate properly (I can't control the volume of a specific program).
Looks like a permissions issue, because /dev/dsp and /dev/oss are created as root and other users get Permission Denied.
Any ideas how to fix it? My sound card is an AC'97 onboard.

EDIT: Solved by pacman -R oss, rm -rf /usr/lib/oss then pacman -S oss. Seems to have worked.

Hello Angela,
Have you tried resetting the iPod yet to see if that makes a difference? To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If that doesn't work, a restore of the iPod via iTunes may be in order.

I am trying to sync them both to the same computer (Windows), and with the 2nd ipod, it looks like everything is going to work out fine, until I go to add songs from my itunes music library...then, after a few seconds of me hoping it will work, I get a message that says "Attempting to copy to Lisa's disk failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."
I thought it might have been my ipod. But then I tried to download songs from my sister's computer, and even my work computer (just to see if it would work), and it did. So I'm not sure what is going on here. Is it my computer, or is it the ipod? Or is it itunes?
Also, my sister in-law said her issue is similar, in that her itunes doesn't recognize her ipod now that my brother's ipod has been used on their computer. She gets the same message as I do...thus she is unable to download any songs onto her ipod.
If you have any helpful tips, it would be greatly appreciated.

I’ll elaborate on Sean’s reply.
As Sean mentioned you can use:
_movie.go("markerName", "MovieName")
To jump to the marker named ‘Markername’ in a movie called ‘MovieName’.
I tend to still use the verbose syntax
go to "markerName" of movie "MovieName"
If you had:
go to movie "MovieName"
you’d jump to the start of the movie (frame 1)
you could use:
go to movie "MovieName.dir"
but the '.dir' is not needed and if you create a protected DXR or DCR, the statement (without the movie extension) would work.
Now, if you want to avoid writing a unique behavior for every link you’re creating, I’ve got a tutorial that describes how to do it at:

The above uses property variables and a parameter dialog box. It does require some understanding of programming (not too much though).
If you have D11.5, in the Library Palette, in the ‘Controls’, category, there is a ‘Jump to Movie Button’ behavior. This behavior can be dragged and dropped onto a sprite and then you can type in the marker name and movie name in a parameter dialog box to set the link for the sprite. I say D11.5 because while earlier versions of Director have this behavior, there is a small error (easily fixed) that makes the marker jumping part non-functional. Anyway, my behavior in my tut site does the same thing.

head into your itunes main library window. are all the little boxes to the left of your tracks unchecked?
is so, hold down Ctrl and click on one of those boxes to recheck all the songs. (this may take a little time.)
do you get continuous play once all the songs are rechecked?
