Ipod won't sync because I have 10.2 (but I have 10.3!)

I try to install the update because after sync it says the ipod hasn't synced all the songs in itunes because "my software is too old". So I download the ipod updater and there is a red exclamation mark on the ipod in the update window and the dialogue box says 'this update requires Mac OS 10.2.8 or higher' Um, I have 10.3.9 for heaven's sake. Any suggestions folks?

You can't install the iPod updater directly onto the iPod. To install the iPod updater, click on your hard disk in the update window and proceed with the installation. When the installation is complete, open the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and then locate the iPod updater you installed. Double-click the updater and then either click the Update button, or click on the Options menu and choose Update iPod to continue the update.

  • My new iPod won't sync unless I have iTunes 10.7 or later, but there is no such version.  iTunes 10.6 is the latest.  What's going on?

I plugged in my new iPod and a message said that it would not sync unless I have iTunes 10.7 or later, but there is no such version.  I checked for updates and iTunes 10.6 is the latest.  What's going on?

You need to upgrade the computer's OS to at least Mac OS X 10.6.8, which requires an Intel Mac with at least 1GB of RAM.

I have recently purchased an iPhone 4 and synced it with my itunes library on my PC and then updated the software to 5.0.  I already had an iPod touch (4th generation) and now when i try and sync it with the library it says "back-up corrupt or incompatable with iPod, please delete back-up and try again"...i followed the instructions and now have no back-up and it restored the original factory settings to the iPod.  I am now trying to re-sync it to get my songs back and the same message is appearing.  How do i back-up my iPod ??

the version of your ipod shouldnt stop it from syncing

  • IPod won't sync because of podcast

When syncing, iPod/iTunes is saying that it cannot load library because space is taken by podcast. However, no podcasts are selected or exist. Capacity shows "other" taking 80% of space but cannot find what is causing it. Was not an issue until recent sync/

I agree, time to restore that iPod.

  • My ipod won't sync because of "unknown error 13019" Help!!

What does unknown error 13019 mean?

Check out this Apple article -> iTunes: Error 13019 during sync
Try disabling automatic syncing of the iPod from iTunes preferences. Also, take a look at what's syncing to the iPod when you see the error and try to uncheck that to see if the error stops. There might be a bad file in that group of content.

  • My ipod won't sync any of the music i downloaded and says that iTunes can't backup the Ipod because a session couldn't be started with the Ipod how do i fix this

My ipod won't sync any thing in my iTunes library it always stop as soon as it starts backingup the Ipod a message appears that says iTunes cannot backup the Ipod "my Ipod" because a session couldn't be started withthe Ipod how do i fix this problem?
This is exactly what the message says: iTunes could not back up the iPod "austins ipod" because a session could not be started with the iPod.

Try connecting your ipod to another computer and sync only 1 file or song just for isolation purpose only to see if it'll sync.
If still not syncing, then porbably you may have a bad iOS installed in iPod which is hard to see if it has a problem because you said nothing's wrong with iPod. I just saying is, it MIGHT have a bad iOS.
If you are unable to do a restore, put your ipod in DFU mode, then connect to iTunes and iTunes will detect your ipod in restore mode. Press shift key (PC keyboard) then click the restore button on iTunes. I hope you have your copy of IPSW file for restoration purposes.

  • I have one of the original IPOD's and just tried adding a bunch of songs, (200) and now that they're on my computer my ipod won't sync as it now says i need about 8.45 more gb. any thoughts on this?

I have one  of the oriignal IPOD's circo 2006.  I've got about 150 tunes on it which has been fine but today tried to add another 200 or so and was advised I need about 848 MB to load them.  Is there any solution.  I have 2 playlists.  One with the original 150 tunes and one with the addiitional 200 tunes. Thoughts as now my IPOD won't sync at all and I don't want to delete any of the songs if I don't have to.

How much storage on the IPOD  -  I have one that has 60GB on it.   Also have an IPOD shuffle that held less songs.
As your IPOD does not have enough storage for all of your songs, you have to create a list to sync to it that does not exceed the storage size.
For instance my IPOD shuffle had its only list of songs that did not exceed storage.
The IPOD gets them all because I only loaded the songs from my CDs that I really liked into ITUNES - leaving out the ones I skipped over.

If you have 64bit Vista or Windows 7, look for the seperate download of iTunes for that further down the page.
Once installed, use the Apple Software Update under your Start Menu to fully update all Apple components.
Your content will remain on the drive in the Music > iTunes Folder, nothing is deleted.
You  should be making backups of your content regularly, either through  iTunes or via copying the iTunesFolder in your Music folder to a  external drive.

  • HT1296 Have a problem with syncing. I get this message: The ipod Bill's Ipod" cannot be synced because there is not enough space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 2.4GB required) I don't understand as I have much more space than 2

I recently ran into a problem with syncing my ipod touch to itunes on my Windows 7 pc. It had previously been synced to my older laptop
and I wanted to change to my newer Windows 7 laptop's itunes library that I had already been syncing with.
Anyway, I started seeing this message that prevents my from syncing:
The iPod "Bill's iPod" cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library
    (additional 2.48 GB required)
Not sure if it is talking about my iPod free space or my PC itunes library free space. Either way I have 11.0 GB free space available
on my iPod and 412 GB free space available on my Windows 7 PC.
How do I handle this problem?   Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks

It is saying that the iPod does not have enough free storage to sync all the items yu have selected to sync to the iPod. You need 2.48 GB more free on the iPod. You need either to select less to sync or delete some content form the iPod.

    Hello pryan1012,
What this message means is that you have more music in your itunes library than there is free space in your ipod.
I had this same issue at one time. This is what helped me put my music on the ipod. I used manually manage.
Learn how to sync muisc here.
    Hope this helps.

Only iTunes purchased music can hava a cloud icon and then only if the music was purchased with the account listed in Settings>iTunes and App Store on the iPod.
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
