IPod won't sync pass 'finding purchased items'
I am trying to sync my ipod touch with my music and i have never had a problem until today. Everything is working fine until i get to finding purchased items then it just frezes. I have no other applications open other than itunes. I have not upgraded to iOS 5. My ipod touch is on version 4.2.1. Thax for any help.
To transfer purchased iTunes Store songs from iPod to computer, select the iPod in iTunes. You can do this from the sidebar. Click on the iPod under DEVICES.
NOTE: If the iTunes sidebar is not visible, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
With the iPod selected in iTunes, from the menu bar
File -> Devices -> Transfer Purchases from "[name of iPod]"
Alternately, you can re-download previous purchases from the iTunes Store at no cost. On the iTunes Store Home screen, under QUICK LINKS, click on Purchased. On the Purchased screen, you can find and download previously purchased songs, including those made on the iPod touch.
NOTE: You need to be signed in to the iTunes Store using the same Apple ID used to make the purchases on the iPod touch.
Also, if you use the same Apple ID on the iPhone, you should be able re-download (at no cost) previous purchases from the iTunes Store, directly on the iPhone.

Itunes freezes at "finding purchased items" when syncing itouch!?!!?
So I bought an Ipod touch 3rd generation from my friend about 4 months ago. it was working fine and syncing with itunes perfectly. then, about 2 months ago i updated my itunes to itunes 10.2.2 and that was a total mistake. i would open itunes and it would run slow, then when i tried syncing my ipod it would always freeze at "finding purchased items" and i had to force quit every time. i figured i would just wait for another update. now, a couple months later, ive updated to itunes 10.3.1, in high hopes that it would work. but still, nothing. it continues to freeze at "finding purchased items" I've tried to sync my old Ipod nano to the same itunes library and it worked fine! it's just not working with my itouch!!!
Ive read up on it and done all of the following:
Deleted ibooks
Sync from back up
Reinstall itunes
Restore itunes
Made a new library
Turned off home sharing
Manually synced music
Unsubscribed to podcasts
Allow it to attempt to sync overnight
And many more things!!!!!
And just now i tried syncing it again and now it began freezing at step 2:preparing to sync!
the ONLY conclusion that i can come to is authorizing my computer. Since i bought the ipod off of my friend we decided to share an itunes account so that i could purchase stuff using her itunes account. since i got the ipod i HAVE made many purchases using her account. but when i tried authorizing my computer to her account it says something like "this account can only be authoorized to 5 computers" the problem is, i really need it to sync to more than 5!?
This has been going on for too long and now its getting extremely frustrating for me. I am a teen and I would love to listen to the newest music! so this is a real problem for me. Someone, PLEASE HELP!!!!! AND FAST!!!!!!!!!!

All of a sudden, my ipod touch will only recognize/play purchased items. I then have to completely reset the ipod and re-sync. I've had to do this 6 times, and support has been no help.
So you also rebooted your router correct? Does the iPod still connect okay to other networks?

Syncing stops on finding purchased items
So I have been looking for a solution for this problem for a while now but i can't seem to find any answers.
Basically every time i sync my iphone 4 into itunes (11.0.1.12) it will sync until it gets to the point where it says "finding purchased items". It then stays at this stage. Also because of this I cannot put any new music onto my iPhone. Most other feed have said something about iBooks and deleting but i dont even have iBooks to start of with... Any Suggestions?I have had the same problem however deleting IBooks did not help and I have been messing with this for days...but I have found something that appears to work (its copying purchased items now, I'm crossing my fingers).
Try this... after plugging in your Ipad, right-click on the Ipad icon, but instead of choosing "transfer purchases", click on "backup". When I did this, instead of "looking for purchased items", it immediately started "transferring purchased items from Ipad"... and its been running now for 40 minutes.. (I have a quite a few purchased apps), but its not locking, and the apps copying... .

If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would , relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay. -
Just tried to download new audiobooks to my iPod Touch 3, and noted new iTunes. iPod won't sync ("iTunes is unable to load data class information from Sync Services"). Tried to Reset Sync History per Support Article, but it didn't work. My purchased audiobooks are also gone from my iTunes Library. Any fix, or is my best bet to uninstall new iTunes and reload earlier version??

my 60 & 80 gig iPods won't sync to iTunes. When I connect them, they appear in iTunes, but I cannot add or delete music and several of the playlists don't show up on the iPod. My newer 120 gig iPods work fine. This started on 8-8-10. I am running the current version of iTunes.
I've been having the same problem ever since I upgraded to iTunes 9. Before the update I never had any issues syncing new songs or playlists. I have purchased several new albums and haven't been able to get them synced to my iPod. When I plug in my iPod I get the syncing message and the "Do Not Disconnect" message shows up on my iPod for about 30 seconds to a minute, but when it finishes nothing has been added and the storage amounts haven't changed.

My ipod 32gb 5th gen will not sync to itunes or any mac computer. An error message appears saying that my ipod touch requires itunes ver10.7. Does anyone know how to get this on my ipod touch 5? I cannot find it, does it need to be installed onto my ipod from a computer?

Only iTunes purchased music can hava a cloud icon and then only if the music was purchased with the account listed in Settings>iTunes and App Store on the iPod.
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?

ITunes opened another library, now iPod won't sync
I have a Dell laptop with iTunes installed on it, and an iPod touch 5th gen. with the most recent software update. But Windows just recently had an update and so I updated the software of my laptop and iTunes continued to work fine. But just a few days ago I turn my computer off and the the next day turn it back on in an attempt to sync my iPod but when I plug my iPod into the computer before I open iTunes, the iPod makes it open automatically and the terms and services agreement pops up. And I'm thinking why is this here again b/c I haven't updated iTunes or anything but i know it won't open unless I agree, so I agree. (But oddly, I think it said "save" instead.) So I click whatever it says (save or agree, I can't really remember) and iTunes opens but it's an older version of my library.
All my most recent songs are gone, and my iPod won't sync b/c it's not being recognized by iTunes. (When I started syncing this iPod with this computer I had to make it start over completely and erase all data to make it forget my old computer.) But now that it's the wrong iTunes library, it won't sync anymore. :/
I don't want to have to erase all my data again...But why did it do this? I've tried to go through and make it open the other libraries (holding shift and clicking on iTunes to tell it to open another library), but I can't find the most recent one. I'm assuming the library is still there on the computer but I can't find it, but I didn't delete anything and iTunes never warned me of any issues, so the library has to still be on the computer some where. I tried closing iTunes and reopening it but that didn't work, neither did turning the computer off and turning it back on.
How can I fix it?
Sidenote: all my songs were consolidated to that particular library. (If that matters.) And my iPod still seems to be working fine.I had the same problem on my iphone 5s, and this fixed it. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5335

Stuck at "Finding Purchased Items" even after update and reboot
I have been unable to sync my iPad for several weeks. Itunes gets to "Find Purchased Items" then hangs. I've left it running overnight, but still nothing. I updated the software to the latest version (the one that allows sharing) and still nothing. Rebooted and still nothing. I know iTunes is completely frozen because I can't even return to it in Explorer (i'm using the Windows version).
What can I do to be able to start syncing my iPad again? It seems like ITunes is really becoming an Achilles Heel for Apple products.
Any help is much appreciated since I've bought several new apps and can't install ANY of them.I was having the same problem on the iPad 1. I am on the latest iOS (5.1.1) and the latest Lion (10.7.4) and latest iTunes 10.6.1 (7).
Tried to sync for the first time in months. whenever it gets to 3 of 7 "finding purchases," iTunes completely hangs and I have to force quit.
I deleted iBooks on the iPad and then right clicked on the iPad in iTunes and did a BACKUP (option is set to backup to iCloud btw).
Once this was complete it sat on "WAITING TO APPLY CHANGES", for almost an hour.. eventually i was impatient, and tried an option change, and hit apply and it got past the screen and fixed it all.
Once all this was done, it was backing up/synching etc. very quickly.
Hope that helps anyone else who got stuck more recently than the thread origin! -
I moved my music from the c drive to the d drive. All of my music is in itunes but my ipod won't sync with itunes. The syncing process is taking much longer than usual too. I left my ipod over night to sync and it didnt finish. Fails to sync every time. I tried to restore my ipod and it didnt help.
