My new iPod won´t download items I have purchased from iTunes onto my iMac. The message states that my computer is not authorised but it is! Can anyone help?

Previously, on the same computer, I have synced purchased songs from my Itunes library to my iPOD. Now, suddenly, an error message says that I'm not authorized to do so. I use my computer in two countries, the US and Taiwan, and wonder if this has anything to do with the problem. I've already restored the Ipod and reloaded all the songs. I bought a new ipod and also had to reinstall everything on my laptop. So I have video ipod. I managed to transefer my music from my old ipod to my new itunes. Now I have my new ipod and it has synced most of the music but for some reason it won't sync my purchased music. Can someone help?

It is a new computer that I have authorized, and I get the confirmation that it was authorized, but still won't sync any of the Itunes store purchases.

Sometimes you need to play one of the iTunes store songs in iTunes to get the authorization to work. Even of you used the authorize option from main menu. Have you tried that?

I just purchased a new ipod and when I try to sync my library it will not transfer any purchased songs that are in my library. All the songs are checked and I selected sync all music.

Do these purchased tracks play in iTunes? What other options do you have enabled from under the Summary and Music tabs for your iPod? Are you saying non-iTunes purchased tracks sync okay?

I moved my music from the c drive to the d drive. All of my music is in itunes but my ipod won't sync with itunes. The syncing process is taking much longer than usual too. I left my ipod over night to sync and it didnt finish. Fails to sync every time.

My iPod won't play purchased songs from the iTunes Store. They play on my computer, using iTunes, through the iPod, but my iPod won't play the songs with headphones, or in my BOSE speaker station, nor in my car using my Belker radio adapter. I've purchased a few songs before, and haven't had this problem. I wasn't prompted, as I have been before, to enter in a password before playing the songs.

i have the same problem, and i looks like there are another 4 or 5 discussion threads with the same prob. my ipod is about 14months old, got one of the first 4th generations when they came out -- have never had a problem, then when i downloaded itunes 6, all of a sudden everything i have purchased since then plays fine on my computer and just keeps scrolling thru and not playing on my ipod. very very frustrating. i have tried everything, right down to a complete restore on it, and nothing helps. also, when i downloaded itunes6, my purchased music playlist disapeared -- i spent 2 weeks and 5 emails going back and forth with tech support because they wouldn't address the issue, and am wary of going to them with this one. i thought the drive or memory on the ipod was corrupted and was going to buy another one, but now i'm not so sure -- is anyone having this issue with a 5th generation? because what it looks like is itunes 6 downloads may not be compatible with 4th G, and that makes me a little cranky. any one find a solution for this yet?

IPod won't sync to iTunes - Please help! Tried everything

My iPod won't sync to iTunes. I pug it into the computer, the computer recognizes the device. It automatically opens iTunes once it's plugged in. I was able to system restore via iTunes when the iPod was connected and it wiped the iPod. But when I hit sync it doesn't sync. When I hit the sync button for about 5 seconds the wheel will rotate on the iPod screen and say "syncing" but nothing happens on the iTunes side, (you know normally when your iPod is syncing at the top of the iTunes window it will say "syncing" and you can see the process happening as it quickly runs through the new music it is uploading, this doesn't happen.) I tried restarting the iPod and the computer, system reset, I checked in the control panel to make sure the apple device was started, (which it was,) and even bought a new sync cord to be sure. Nothing. Any ideas?

I was running into the same/similar problem. Is this a new computer but old ipod? In other words, does your ipod contain music from a previous pc? If so, that might be the problem. I bought a new pc and adequately transferred my music from old pc to new pc. My itunes library on new pc was where I wanted it to be. But when I tried to sync my ipod later, it wouldn't sync. Would stop at first step like yours was doing.
If this is the case with you, open your ipod information on itunes. It will automatically be on "Summary". Click on "Music". You will see a box labeled "Sync Music". Click on that box. Then you have the option of checking "Entire Music Library" or "Selected playlists.....". I chose entire library. When you sync, it will warn you that you will be erasing contents of ipod and replacing with contents of this itunes library. Like I said, my library was good. So I chose ok. It synced fine after that.

I cannot figure out why my iPod mini skips over purchased music from iTunes. I looked at the files and they are .mp4 & there is a little lock symbol on the file. Someone help! I have already dowloaded the latest updates and nothing has changed...

I have the same problem as others mentioned here. I just updated my mini to 1.4, and iTunes to 6.0. Just purchased an album and went to play it and all the songs were just skipped over by my mini. Then checked and the same happens for all purchased music.
I then check in iTunes and everything plays fine there. Then uploaded the songs to my 40GB and everything plays fine on the 40GB. I recently updated the 40GB to the latest firmware as well.
The mini plays all other music just fine.

When I plug my ipod into my computer, it recognises it's there, but it won't sync with the ipod & update the music on it.
I restored the ipod using itunes so now there's absolutely nothing on my ipod at all, but it still won't sync with itunes, so I have a completely blank ipod...
I've only had it for about 3 months so am not impressed...
Does anyone have any suggestions?

My was doing the same thing. But I figured out how to fix it. My computer was not recognizing the IPOD so I had to reset the drive letter. Click on Start, then go to the Control Panel, Click on Adminstration tools, Click on Computer Management, on the left hand side of your screen pick Disk Management from the box, it will take a few seconds then it will pull up a list of all your computer drives, highlight your Ipod, then right click and change drive letter or path, I changed it to "I" for ipod. My computer then recognized my Ipod. I opened up itunes and my sync worked then.

IPhone 4 won't sync to iTunes on iMac

Recently my iPhone 4 won't sync with iTunes on my iMac. When I connect my iPhone iTunes recognizes it and I'm able to click the sync button. It goes the the sync steps, but at the end it says it can't sync becasue my iPhone is not connected to iTunes even though it is.
My iPhone, iMac and iTunes have the latest software updates. I'm running OS X 10.6.8.
I've tried rebooting both my iPhone and iMac, but it still doesn't work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm only asking this because I just got my phone unlocked, and the service provider suggested that I restore my iPhone by syncing it with Itunes.......but maybe I don't have to restore my phone? Anyone with advice/suggestions?

3rd Gen Ipod won't sync with Itunes since upgrade to Snow Leopard

I upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard and since then my trusty 3rd Gen Ipod will not sync with iTunes (9.0.3). It mounts in Finder, but does not appear in iTunes. The iPod will still charge, but it constantly displays the "Do Not Disconnect" message until manually ejected.

I just updated my PC to Windows 7/64 bit. iPod will not sync with iTunes. I have uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, and tried all the suggestions on the Internet (except restoring the iPod, too scary; and modifying registry on the PC, too too scary). The device thinks it has the most current software. The iPod tries to connect and appears briefly but then disconnects. A Windows message appears asking the following: "Do you want to scan and fix My iPod? There might be a problem with some files on this device or disc. This can happen if you remove the device or disc before all files have been written to it." If I tell it yes to scan it gives another error message that is it not recognized. If I tell it to skip the scan, the device disconnects and nothing happens. No syncing. I am at a loss as to how to fix this. Has anyone encountered this type of issue and if so - how did you resolve it. I don't want to restore the iPod as I do not know if it will ever connect and sync again and all the music on it now would be lost and the device would be useless. I must have missed a step. My old windows laptop died. Tried syncing iTunes library from old laptop to new iPod touch. Didn't work. Downloaded iTunes to new windows laptop. Logged into iTunes from new laptop and Authorized new windows laptop. Uploaded a few CDs into new laptop's iTunes library. Old purchased songs appeared on new laptop, however only uploaded songs from CDs will sync to new iPod touch.
