hiya!
I can see the ipod_controls folder. so its not hidden on my ipod.
you can see it it you have "view hidden files and folders" switched on in your view settings, so that's still normal.
so we'd better start working through the creepier/rarer possibilities when it comes to "synch goes apparently normally, but no songs appear".
at this point. I'm almost ready to restore my ipod. sigh
that's actually worth trying. i've seen one or two cases of things like this where the problem seemed to be a corrupt database file on the ipod. (so the song files were synching, but the ipod just didn't realise that they were onboard.) a restore might be able to fix that.
do you have backups of all the music on that ipod? here's a good resource on backing up:

  • Ipod won't sync with Itunes even after restore

    Hiya,
When I plug my ipod into my computer, it recognises it's there, but it won't sync with the ipod & update the music on it.
I restored the ipod using itunes so now there's absolutely nothing on my ipod at all, but it still won't sync with itunes, so I have a completely blank ipod...
I've only had it for about 3 months so am not impressed...
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Miranda

My was doing the same thing. But I figured out how to fix it. My computer was not recognizing the IPOD so I had to reset the drive letter. Click on Start, then go to the Control Panel, Click on Adminstration tools, Click on Computer Management, on the left hand side of your screen pick Disk Management from the box, it will take a few seconds then it will pull up a list of all your computer drives, highlight your Ipod, then right click and change drive letter or path, I changed it to "I" for ipod. My computer then recognized my Ipod. I opened up itunes and my sync worked then.

  • IPod won't sync with iTunes on Windows 7/64 bit PC

I just updated my PC to Windows 7/64 bit. iPod will not sync with iTunes. I have uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, and tried all the suggestions on the Internet (except restoring the iPod, too scary; and modifying registry on the PC, too too scary). The device thinks it has the most current software. The iPod tries to connect and appears briefly but then disconnects. A Windows message appears asking the following: "Do you want to scan and fix My iPod? There might be a problem with some files on this device or disc. This can happen if you remove the device or disc before all files have been written to it." If I tell it yes to scan it gives another error message that is it not recognized. If I tell it to skip the scan, the device disconnects and nothing happens. No syncing. I am at a loss as to how to fix this. Has anyone encountered this type of issue and if so - how did you resolve it. I don't want to restore the iPod as I do not know if it will ever connect and sync again and all the music on it now would be lost and the device would be useless. Thank you in advance for your suggestions. Tikimom

  • 3rd Gen Ipod won't sync with Itunes since upgrade to Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard and since then my trusty 3rd Gen Ipod will not sync with iTunes (9.0.3). It mounts in Finder, but does not appear in iTunes. The iPod will still charge, but it constantly displays the "Do Not Disconnect" message until manually ejected.
    Any help gratefully received.

    Thank you kindly

  • Ipod won't sync with itunes, wiped itself, won't leave apple logo screen

I think the problem showed up after I plugged my ipod classic into a Belkin (I think) ipod speaker dock. The next time I plugged it into my computer, it wouldn't sync with itunes. When there's no ipod plugged into the computer, itunes opens fine, but when I plug my ipod in, itunes will open then freeze. Unplugging my ipod makes itunes go back to normal, but with an error message that I can't sync my ipod. After going through that a few times this morning, I tried doing the middle button+menu reset, which left it stuck at the apple logo for around 15 minutes. It eventually took me to the language select screen, where I saw that all my songs and podcasts had been wiped from the drive. However, when I hover over the "settings" menu option, it says I only have 40 gigs free, which is the amount I had when I still had all my data on the ipod. I've also tried plugging it into my computer and formatting it through windows, but that doesn't work either. Do I have any options here? Thanks in advance

Tried most of these (including swapping out cords in dfferent ports) with no luck. I tried to restore it as well but it won't let me do that either. The hard drive is working to the point where the ipod works normally with the exception of the syncing issue. I have also run the diagnostic and everyting is fine until the last one, the device sync test. It is able to see the ipod earlier in the diagnostics.

  • IPod won't sync with itunes 7.7

the other day i plugged my ipod in to update 4 new songs on it. i watched itunes put the songs on the ipod and said it was succesfull. so i took it with me and when i went to go listen to it it had no songs on it. so i took it home and plugged it in and when it synced the memory bar was all orange. so after trying different usb ports i restored it. after i restored it it will not sync with itunes anymore. the most it will ever do if anything is sync a little at a time then comes up with the error, "unable to sync because the required file cannot be written from or written to." if i click sync again it will do the same thing. does anybody know how to fix this?

  • Ipod touch won't sync with itunes, only iphoto after snow leopard update upgrade

Have just put snow leopard onto my mac book 4.1. Can't get my ipod touch 5.1.1 to sync with itunes. It syncs with iphoto every time, but no device comes up in itunes or in finder. I have the latest software updates on both mac & touch. Any ideas?

  • IPod won't sync with iTunes after iOS8

I already posted about this but I will post again since I didn't receive any replies. I don't know if there is any way to contact Apple directly about this without having to fork up some money. My iPod Touch 5 will not sync with iTunes ever since the iOS8 update. It shows up in the menu, but will not sync. I click on sync or update, or even backup... nothing. It looks like it's trying to do something for about a second, then it just stops. I NEED TO SYNC MY IPOD. Please someone address this issue and fix it!!!

Mac. And I wanted to add, when the iPod is in the menu, and I click on it, the "sync" button is grey--I can't click on it. The only way to access it is to go to, say, my photos and click or unclick a group of photos. Then it will show the "apply" button. I click on that and it says "starting sync" for a second and then it stops. And the menu bar at the bottom has a little bit of blue "Audio" a couple other little bits of color, then a whole bunch of yellow "other". It's like it recognizes that the iPod is there, but it's not connecting to its content properly.

  • Help!!! iPod won't sync with iTunes, iTunes freezes!

Hello, I'm sorry if this topic is already in an other one, but I couldn't find it.
First of all, I'm very pleased with my iPod Classic 160Gb, finally I can carry my complete collection with me. Since I'd installed the 8.0.1 update for iTunes, my iTunes freezes immediately, and my iPod won't show up in iTunes, and the screen of the Classic is stuck on "Connected".
If I don't connect, iTunes works perfectly, even with my iPhone (Everything works smoothly).
What is the problem?, I've tried everything, Reboot iPod Classic 160 Gb, reïnstall iTunes (complete deinstallation), i tried different USB-ports of my laptop, other USB-cabel, reboot PC. All updates, even my USB-ports. Can somebody please tell me what's happening? And solve my problem?
I didn't found this same problem in any of other topics, if someone finds the same topic WITH an answer, I would be pleased.

Ok seriously. We pay way too much for these things for crap like this to happen all the time. Apple has us all by the gonads b/c they know we can't get them to work any other way.
Friday, my 80G classic worked just freaking fine on my home computer. After I reinstalled it b/c of some error with quicktime. I also connected it to my brother's laptop over the weekend it did fine. Used it on work computer today worked fine---after I had to uninstall and reinstall quicktime.
Loaded the iTunes upgrade on work computer today, seemed to work fine after that.
Now at home I get the following error: Your iPod needs to be reformatted for use with Windows. Would you like to run iTunes to restore your iPod now?
I've tried for weeks now to back up my iTunes on both my computers and it always freezes. I was hoping after the new version this would be fixed. NOT so much.
So in a nut shell....I CAN'T back up my stuff, b/c iTunes *****. Now in order to use it I have to reformat my iPod, which will erase all my stuff. So I'm SCREWED. I'm not usually a hostile person, but at this point I could scream!!!!!
the apple/iTunes support team has been nothing but helpful on some duplicate song issues I've had in the past. Why in the H*LL can't they freaking fix this???
If I have to reload 80G it won't be on an iPod. I'll sell the **** thing to some other sucker, find something else, or for pete's sake, go back to CDs.
Don't tell me Apple doesn't have enough money or enough geniuses (genii) to figure this out with out it causing my time and money I've already spent.
    Rant over....

  • Ipod won't sync with itunes, ipod won't sync with itunes

I can't sync my ipod with itunes since I got a new computer with Windows 8.  Any help would be appreciated.

You may need to set up the iPod's Music tab in iTunes, to tell iTunes how you want to sync it with songs.
First, with the latest iTunes, it may hide the sidebar.  To show the sidebar, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, there is a row of "tabs" (starting with Summary).  Click on Music there.  This tab is where you set up music automatic syncing for the iPod.

  • Ipod won't sync with itunes & it's not charging.

I just got a new laptop, and i've linked my ipod to itunes and everything a few times in the past, and its worked fine. It's been a few months now since i've needed to charge it or load more music onto it, and I just plugged it in to do so and now for some reason it won't even sync to itunes & it won't even charge... I don't understand what's wrong with it.
I've tried using two different chords for it, restaring my computer, and i've already tried restarting my ipod. Nothing seems to work.
    Any ideas??...

If you have iTunes 7.7, I would quit trying to get it to connect, because eventually, you will get some weird things happening to your iPod. Trust me! I am having serious problems with my iPod and have had everything deleted off of my iPod once it connected. I finally restored it and got everything from my iTunes on there and pulled the plug til they fix this update.

  • 5th gen iPod won't sync with iTunes

I have recently upgraded my iTunes to version 8. Now my iPod won't mount. I get the following error when I plug in the iPod: "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." I've restored at least 6 times and nothing. I have also downgraded to the previous version of iTunes and it still won't work. Please help me. Right now I have a 30Gb lump of coal sitting in my desk. (The restore obviously removed all my music for it.)

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. See the "Change the Drive Letter" section of this document for steps to assign a different drive letter" which contains a link to this article: Windows confuses iPod with network drive and iTunes may exhibit strange behavior in relation to the iPod.

  • My new ipod won't sync with itunes and does not show on windows

    Hi
I got a new ipod nano gen 7 to replace 2 old ipods that were stolen.  the problem is that it won't sync at all.  When I plug it in it charges, but my windows 7 browser doesn't see it, and neither does my itunes.  I have Mcafee security and I have updated itunes, windows and checked my mcafee settings as per other users issues on the web and it still isn't working!  If I plug it into another computer though it works fine.
Have tried - resetting ipod, downloading upgrades, switching firewall off.
No idea what else i can do!
    Help!
