IPod won't transfer photos

I just got back from Jamaica and have over 600 pictures I need transfered to my iBook. Because I knew my 1 GB card in my camera wouldn't be enough for the entire trip, I bought an iPod Camera Connector before I left to upload all my pictures to overnight. I tested the adapter several times before I left to make sure it worked--and it did.
However, after connecting my iPod to my computer today, it didn't work. It took iPhoto several minutes before it even read the iPod and was ready to start importing. And when I was able to choose "Import," it soon gave me a message saying all 600+ JPEG files were unreadable (and it gave a list of all the file names, so I know they're there). So the pictures never transfered from my iPod to iPhoto. Now when I plug my iPod into my computer and have iPhoto try to import the photos it just says "Working..." and never does anything.
Please, I really need someone to help me with what's going on. I have over 600 pictures that are probably the best pictures I've ever taken. Luckily, all the pictures still show up on my iPod--now I just need them on my computer.

Any help here?

You need a third-party program like the paid PhoneView or TouchCopy. The free iFunBox may work.

  • My Ipod won't transfer purchases.

My Ipod won't transfer purchases. I've tried all of the options to do so, but I click it and it doesn't do anything

Point 2 might still be applicable, it explains finding which file is causing the problem.
"Watch the display at the top of the iTunes window while your iPod is being updated. The name of the problematic file should appear in the display right before the error appears"
If the file is corrupted in some way you'll most likely have to put the iPod in Manual mode and delete it unfortunately. Further down in the article is this passage "To prevent future issues, you should delete the unusable files, then restore them from a backup". The problem then might be do you have a back up or not?

All of sudden my Apple Mail won't transfer photos from Mail to iPhoto using the "add to iPhoto" feature in the drop down menu. Do you know how to fix this?

  • IPod won't update photos-error code 208

I am having trouble updating my iPod with my photos. It will update my music, but will not transfer any photos. I have uninsalled and reinstalled iTunes, reset and rebooted the iPod, and ensured that my settings to transfer photos are correct: synchronize photos from My Pictures, Copy all photos, Include full-resolution photos. Does anyone have any sugestions?

I am having the same problem, except on a Mac (Powerbook). I just received my new iPod (5thG 60 GB) and it synched all the songs and videos. It won't sync my photos from iPhoto though and gives me a -208 error.
Does anyone know why this is or what can be done to solve this? Thank you.

  • Music from CDs that is on my iPod won't transfer to my iTunes library on a different computer I used to use but all music bought from iTunes will? How do I fix this?

In the past to get music from CDs onto my iTunes library and onto my iPod was all easy and fine, as you would know if you have done such a thing before. I used to use a different laptop for all my music stuff to the desktop I have to use now as the other one is broken. It is an authorised computer on my iTunes, so my issue has got nothing to do with that. When I got this desktop (it is quite an old one, if that makes any difference), i had to download iTunes and put all my music into my library to back it up.
However, all music that I had bought physically that is currently on my iPod (CDs) WON'T transfer into my new library on the desktop, but all music that I had bought digitally (iTunes) WILL transfer.
This has led to about 300 missing songs in my library and means I can't transfer all of my music onto a different device (as I am trying to transfer all my music onto an iPhone 3).
I have tried countless things. All of that "File > Devices > Transfer purchases" stuff WILL. NOT. WORK. I tried copying the music into a file on the desktop and then adding said file into the library, but it won't let me paste any music.
If someone were to help me in transferring the music I so dearly love then I would be eternally grateful.
    Thank you

  • Missing music, iPod won't transfer certain songs.

I just recently recovered my computer from a hard disk wipe and I was able to get all my purchased songs from the iTunes store off the iPod, but I'm still missing a good 900+ songs that were added by me through other means. If there a way to get all of these songs off the iPod and back on to the library on my computer?

The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • My iPod won't transfer all of my songs in my library to my iPod

Recently my computer's hard drive crashed and I lost everything on my computer. After I got that fixed, I connected my iPod and transfered my music from it back into my iTunes music library. After I transfered the music I realized I forgot to reinstall the iPod software, so I did so. But now when I try to update my iPod not all of the songs in my library will transfer onto my iPod. Most of the ones that won't are ones that I have bought from the music store. The error message is "Some of the songs in the iTunes music library, including the song Candy Shop, were not copied to the iPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer." Please help

How do you transfer music from the iPod to iTunes. I reformatted my computer and thought I could use the iPod as my songs backup but now I can't move them back to the computer.

  • IPod won't sync photos and never stops syncing

60GB iPod Video. I recently updated to software version 1.2. I had tons of trouble with this update, so I did a restore. Now, I'm still running the same version, but at least it doesn't crash when looking at videos or podcasts now. However, after it syncs my music and goes to do photos, it just sits there syncing forever. No photos ever end up on the pod and I just have to eject it when it's time for me to go. I know the 1.2 update ***** baaaad, but does anyone have a workaround for this? Has Apple still not acknowledged tons of problems with the 1.2 update?
    Thanks everyone.

I had the same problem and deleted the casche. All worked ok. Then I had another problem, fixed that. However, my photos won't sync any more It just hangs. I deleted my cashe, but it don't help this time.

  • My iPod won't transfer all of my songs to my Library

Just downloaded iTunes on a Lenovo w530, windows 7 laptop; previously had iTunes on an iMac (2006). The iMac is broken and won't start, but I synced my entire iTunes library to my iPod (gen2).
I have already authorized the computer and signed in with my apple account.
So, when I transfer my purchases from my iPod to the laptop, it will transfer all the songs/apps/etc to the new iTunes, but it will leave most of my songs behind. Yes, I have noticed that the songs it left behind weren't purchased directly from iTunes. The other songs were either synced from CDs (e.g. Linkin Park's Living Things CD doesn't show up in new library) or purchased from other online sites. Is there a way to  either sync these songs as well or to manually transfer them to my library?
If nothing else work's i'll just have to download all the songs from the CDs again...
[Also, IDK if this helps, but I'm not used to using windows at all, so there may be some strange simple thing that I'm not doing correctly, so even the simplest tip could be helpful!]
Any help would be wonderful, thanks.

That article tells me how to "transfer my purchases", which I've already done; it doesn't tell me how to transfer the songs that don't transfer with the "transfer my purchases" option.
You didn't check on the "media recovery software" section at the end of the Tip, which covers non-purchases?

  • New 5G iPod won't sync photos or video.

    Hi,
I recieved a brand new iPod today and I attempted to sync it to my PowerBook. However, it kept freezing at certain songs, so in the end, I had to stop syncing every 100 or so songs and then restart syncing as to avoid freezes. This was after my entire library vanished and I had to reimport it all. Finally after 2 hours and 45 minutes I managed to get all my music on it. But... now I keep getting error messages when I try to sync photos and videos. The error message reads:
'The iPod "iPod" cannot be updated. An unknown error has occured (-208)."
I have tried reinstalling iTunes but no luck. I don't want to restore my iPod just yet because all the music is playing fine and I can still add/remove songs manually, but not automatically update. Plus I haven't either the time or energy to sit restarting and unplugging my iPod.
Is this simply a software issue, because the iPod is fine, it plays songs and can act as a hard drive for movie files, but just not upload video or photos that I can view on the iPod. This is even more stressful considering Apple lost my last iPod when I sent it in for battery issues, and I only recieved this new 5G iPod today after two whole months of waiting and hold music! If anyone can help me on this issue, it would be very, very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Paul

I have the same exact problem. I was on the phone with Apple for 8 hours and various people trying to solve this issue. Thing is, it will accept photos and videos from my old G4 iMac. (USB 1.1). It will not work with USB 2.0, or my new computer for that matter. If you open iTunes > Preferences > iPod -- then look at the tabs. There is no Photo or Video tab.. on my G4 those tabs are present, and videos/photos sync & copy just fine. Apple needs to hurry up and fix this... quite annoying. For now, I will have to use my older apple to get things going. Hope this helps.
Edit: By the way, I am using the newest version of iPod Updater (which doesn't work either), and iTunes 6.0.1 -- and if you do call apple for help, don't restore your ipod, it won't help anything... you'll just lose all your hours of work...

  • 5th generation IPOD won't show PHOTOS tab

Hi. I hope someone can help. I can't get the Photo tab to display when I connect my video IPOD. I know it works because I am able to add my photos using automatic sync. I've tried on 2 different pc's to no avail. I have also removed and reinstalled Itunes and restored my IPOD. I have searched forums for several days and can't find an answer.
Has anyone heard of this problem?
    Thanks for your time.

okay. while the ipod is plugged in and showing up in the itunes sourcelist, and the ipod is selected, you should be seeing a "Summary" tab in your main library window. the photos tab is about the fourth or fifth tab in that display.
here's a link to a screenshot of where i see attractive beast's Photos tab showing up. (since you've got a 5th gen ipod you should also be seeing a "Videos" tab in there.)

  • ATV will transfer music and movies but won't transfer photos

I have just purchased a new PC and when I sync itunes I can transfer all my music, movies, podcasts etc with no problems, but when I click the tab to add photos I get an error message which says that Apple TV is not responding and asks me to check firewall settings for port 3689.
When I follow the link port 3689 is already there and checked.
Can anyone help me to understand why I can transfer all my items except for my photo's.
I am not streaming, I have a physical connection between PC and ATV.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Understood that you are a PC user:
check any other software (antivirus, internet security) to verify that they are not blocking that port.
Check any photo folder security settings; modify as required.
Reset both the PC and Apple TV as a troubleshooting measure.

  • After Leopard Upgrade iPod won't sync photos

My ipods will no longer sync my iPhoto libraries. When attempting to sync, I get this message:
The ipod could not be synched. The disk could not be read from or written to.
However, music and contacts sync OK. If I chose random photos not in iPhoto, they sync. I get the same message both with my nano and my old G4 color display iPod. I recently installed Leopard but am running iLife 2006 and suspect there's an incompatibility.
I have reset my iPod, restored it, run it with disk use enabled and disabled, but other than burning time, I am no closer to solving the problem. Actually, I'm worse off. When I reset the iPod, my saved pictures disappeared and now can't be restored.
    Any advice?
