IPod won't turn off when plugged into computer! PLZ HLP!
I have an iPod touch 2g, and now whenever I connect it to iTunes, it won't turn off. It will just turn itself back on.
If you are unable to give specifics about the problem or what you need to do, it's going to be rather hard to give you recommendations or alternate suggestions.
As I said, if I recall correctly, the iPod will stay on if it's being charged. But, in case I'm misremembering, are you holding down the button until you see the red arrow that says "Slide to power off"? Have you tried restoring it?

I bought a new iPod Classic and it won't turn off when plugged into a home theater dock. Is this normal and will it hurt the iPod if i leave it on all the time?
Hi there,
How old is your Classic? Often, after a couple of years, rechargable batteries begin to fail, especially after such a long period of inactivity. This happens with any gadget with this type of battery.
Try leaving it plugged in for 24 hours, and try again, to rule out that it isn't just really low on charge. If this doesn't help, it may be a good time to buy a replacement. New iPod Nanos and Touches will be released this October.
Below, I've linked to an Apple website which explains rechargable batteries, and why yours may not be working.

I hope this helps, and I hope upgrading your device will not feel like an unnecessary expense. Let me know if you have any more questions,

IPhone 4 won't turn on when plugged into computer nor charger
My refurbished iPhone 4 has the latest iOS 5.1.1 update and my mom's computer has iTunes version 10.6.3.25. However, recently it has been having issues holding a charge and now as of yesterday it won't turn on period. When it does it's only for a split few seconds and then it turns off again.
When it's connected to a wall charger it immediately turns on
and then lock screen apprears with the message "activation required". *Note it says it has at least 75% battery*
Upon entering my lock code my home page is only a page that says to "connect to iTunes".
When I attempt to take the phone off the charger, it dies
and is completely unresponsive as I connect it to a computer.
The computer doesn't recognize it and the screen remains black.
If I leave the phone alone on the charger it will continously go through a process of shutting itself off and turning back on. The time always restarts at around 7p or so and the date is Wednesday, December 31st. Also as it's plugged in, I manage to turn the phone off and on and reset it but the phone just keeps displaying the "activation required" screen. Can this be fixed at a Genius bar or should I have it replaced?Sounds like a damaged device, take it to Apple for evaluation.
If it's under warranty, they will replace it.
If it's not under warranty, an Out of Warranty replacement is $149US. -

IPod very low on battery and now won't turn on when plugged into PC
I haven't used my iPod for a few weeks, so now the battery is obviously completely empty. The problem is that it won't turn on when I plug it into my PC to charge, even after half an hour or longer. Is there something I can do, or do I need to get a completely new battery put in?

IPod won't turn on when plugged in
Hi, it's been about six months since I've last used my 10gb third gen iPod on my iBook G4. The iPod will not turn on at all, presumably because the battery is dead.
So I tried plugging it into my Windows PC (where I've transferred my music). I seem to have lost my firewire cable, so I borrowed a friend's USB cable (for his 4th gen iPod). When I connect the iPod to my PC, it still won't power on at all. Should I try finding or ordering a new cable, or is my iPod toast?

Thanks for the question. The following resource provides information for a device that is not responding or turning on:

IPhone says 'Connect To iTunes' but won't turn on when plugged into the computer.
Hi all.
Having a major problem with my iPhone today. This morning it slipped off my desk somehow and fell on the floor. When I picked it up it would not turn on or respond, so I plugged it into the charger, the apple logo appeared and then the lock screen came up - it said slide to unlock, so I did and then it just said 'connect to iTunes' and I could not use it at all. So I unplugged it from the charger and it immediately turned off and became unresponsive again. I plugged it into the computer and started up iTunes. The apple logo appeared on the phone but then disappeared after about 15s. Then a few moments later the logo appeared again. And then disappeared again. This happens every time I plug it into the computer and what I described with the charger happens every time I plug it in there. Unfortunatley I cant seem to put it into recovery mode, especially as my home button is almost completely unresponsive and I have no idea if its working when trying to put into recovery mode. Please help! You could try to do a hard reset, sometimes resetting the phone helps. Hold down the sleep/wake button on the top and the home button until you see the apple logo, this make take a minute or two but this might help.

I used my iPod yesterday, and it was charged. I put it on the floor, and took it into my room before I went to bed. I wanted to check what I missed while I wasn't using it, but it was "off". I put it on the charger, and it should've been charged up by morning. It still didn't turn on. I tried plugging it into my iMac, but nothing happens when I plugo in my iPod, but works with my iPad. My home button is also jammed, and I've tried to get it To work again, but I've had no luck.
Is there something I can do to turn my iPod on again?Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Ignore the reset and when it says place the iPod in recovery mode
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:
For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
or

If necessary:
Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot

RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
For MAC or PC
The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
Installs blootware on PC too
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

iTunes no longer recognizes my iPod nano 5th gen. When plugged into macbook usb it appears as my iPhone. Previously both devices had individual identities. Have reset iPod and turned macbook off/on.

I would go through ALL the steps here:

I'm having the same problem. I'm using a new shuffle usb cable in my 2nd generation shuffle and nothing shows up on computer. I'm wondering if the dock for the second gen is different than the new usb cable direct into the 2nd gen shuffle. I don't have a dock for it. Before I buy one on ebay I hope someone can assist.

My IPhone works with both the charging USB cable as well as the wall socket and docking station. Additionally, my IPod used to charge using both the wall socket plug in and the docking station. My IPod will stay play music when plugged into the docking station, but won't charge. Further, when I plug my IPod into my computer all it will do is charge and is not recognized by ITunes. I have done both a soft and hard reset.
If the iPhone has no problem with the same cable then
- See:

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

My iPhone won't stop vibrating when plugged into my Macbook. All software is up to date. iTunes just gives me an error. No problems when plugged into a PC. Why the nonstop vibrating!?
When I connect it to my iMac (with up-to-date OS X Yosemite 10.9.5) - it doesn't work.
Specifically - iTunes automatically launches, but then quickly shows a dialog window that says, "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone. This device is no longer connected."
Meanwhile - on my iPhone - in the upper right-hand corner (where the battery life is displayed) - you can see the "plugged in" icon (lightening bolt) rapidly blinking on and off.
In other words - it seems like, when it's plugged in - it's rapidly connecting and disconnecting (several times per second).
If I click "OK" on that dialog window on iTunes - it instantly pops back up, and continues to do so as long as I keep the iPhone plugged in.
I have tried all and stile did not resolve my problem. I tried to restart both devices, try different cable (I have original cable). Both devices are new and software's are update it on latest versions.
Thanks in advance for any help!
