IPod won't turn on OR connect to computer

This morning, my iPod Touch 2nd Generation started glitching. It would play music for a few seconds, then the music would stop and the volume bar at the bottom would disappear. I tried restarting it several times but it kept doing it. Then when I tried to connect it to my computer today, it wouldn't turn on or show up in iTunes or My Computer. I have NO IDEA what to do! Help?

Basic troubleshooting steps.

  • Ipod touch not turning on or connecting to computer

Recently tried to update my Ipod Touch 2g, and during the update process, it went to restart, but my itunes got an error and had to close the process on the computer, and my ipod ended in a black screen. Now it will not turn on or connect to my computer.
What can i do to fix this?

My ipod died last night and I plugged it into my computer and it won't recognize it at all. I've put it in different USB ports, unplugged the ipod and obviously the cord. I've tried resetting the ipod and doing everything I can to get the computer to recognize it. What do I do?

  • IPod won't turn off when plugged into computer! PLZ HLP!

I have an iPod touch 2g, and now whenever I connect it to iTunes, it won't turn off. It will just turn itself back on.

If you are unable to give specifics about the problem or what you need to do, it's going to be rather hard to give you recommendations or alternate suggestions.
As I said, if I recall correctly, the iPod will stay on if it's being charged. But, in case I'm misremembering, are you holding down the button until you see the red arrow that says "Slide to power off"? Have you tried restoring it?

  • HT201401 hello there . i was use my iphone and its was working and i found it stuck and after while is turn off .stop working any more .its won`t turn on or connect to computer or charge ... i don`t know what is going on ?

plz someeone help my iphone stuck then turn off and won`t turn on any more or connect to computer or charge any more????and today i found it working for 1 hour and turn off again plz help

Who repaired the phone? I suggest taking it back to this repair facility. Since Apple replaces phones instead of repair, the repair facility would be the one to take care of your problem.

  • IPod won't turn on or connect to iTunes

About a week ago my home button on my 5th generation iPod stopped working, so I have been using assistive touch. Tonight I had just updated iTunes on my pc while my iPod was charging through it. I took my iPod off of the charger and was using it online. While I was on it, it randomly turned off. I tried turning it back on, but it never worked so I connected it to iTunes after it was done updating. When I plugged it in nothing came upon my pc screen or my iPod screen. I also tried charging it with my wall charger but nothing came up. I have read about troubleshooting, but seeing as my home button doesn't work, I don't think that is an option. Please help, as I am extremely stressed and do not know what to do.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod won't turn on, and connecting to iTunes doesn't help.

So yeah, basically my today when I picked up my Ipod, it wouldn't start, I thought that maybe it was just run out of power and plugged it into itunes.
At first itunes didn't even recognize that the iPod was plugged in, and when it did, it told that I would have to restore the iPod from backup, I pressed ok, and proceeded to press the restore button. Now, this is the weird part, because when I pressed the restore button, iTunes told me that I couldn't restore my iPod, and that I had to update iTunes, problem is, my iTunes is up to date .
Also I'm not able to start the Ipod in DFU mode, and it was NOT JAILBROKEN

The first message i get, when i connect the iPod is "iTunes har oppdaget en Iphone i gjennopprettingsmodus. Du må gjenopprette denne iPod-enheten før den kan brukes sammen med iTunes" This roughly translates to "iTunes has detected an iPhone in restorationmode (?). You have to restore this iPod-unit before it can be used with iTunes"
Then when i prees ok (it's the only option), and press the restore button i get this error message "Programmvare for denne iPhone-modellen er ikke tilgjengelig nå. Forsikre deg om at du har den nyeste versjon av iTunes, og prøv igjen." This translates to "The hardware for this iPhone-model is not available right now. Make sure you have the newest version of iTunes and try again."
    I'm running iTunes 10.5.3 on a windows 7, 64bit

I haven't used my iPod touch 4g in a while and now it won't turn on or connect to my computer to charge. holding power+home isn't working either. i've had it plugged in for a while, but i'm pretty sure that's pointless if it won't even connect....help?

  • 1st Generation iPod Won't Turn On

I have a original 1st generation iPod.  Yes, the one with the scroll wheel and 5gb (wow!) drive.  It doesn't turn on though.  Originally, I suspected a loose connection from the battery to the logic board, but testing with my multimeter shows me the connection is fine.  The iPod doesn't turn on at all.  I tried plugging it into my computer's firewire port and pressing the menu and play/pause button to no avail.
I have a picture in this post of the iPod - all dead like a brick.  Do any of you have any suggestions?  I am at a brick wall right now and need to find some solution.  Or if any of you know where I can get the iPod repaired or get a cheap logic board replacement?  I can't spend too much though.
    Thanks.

  • IPod won't turn on, won't appear in windos or itunes. What's broken?

    Pacient: 30gb video ipod
    Age: 1 year
Symthoms: kinda dead...out of the blue! This ipod never moved in the last 1 year. it stayed in one fixed place, connected to the charger 27/7 and one day, it just stopped!
I tried as many of the R's as i could. I drained the battery (or i think i did), i charged it over night (if it charges)...nothing!
Won't restart (even though i hear/feel the hard drive spinning), won't be detected by my computer, or by my other computer, or by my friend's mac...
I changed the USB wire, ports, updated windows, iTunes...everything that cand be updated.
Few times i got the message "restore using iTunes" but i can't restore cause i don't see it in iTunes...
Where i live there's no Apple officil store, is out of the guaranty and i don't know what part to change if i decide to fix it myself.

If nothing works, then you may have no choice but to go to an Apple Store. If it comes down to that, make an appointment with the Genius Bar.

  • My iPod won't turn on and i've done everything

I was driving and my iPod fell of the dash board and onto the floor, and now it won't turn on. I got an iHome for Christmas and have been using it so I know my iPod is fully charged. I tried connecting it with the USB so I can use it on iTunes and charge it just in case and my computer says it doesn't recognize it. It doesn't appear under devices so I'm unable to restore it.
I've only had it for alittle over a year, what the heck is wrong?

    Try these.
