IPod won't turn on, sync with PC or charge

Hi guys,
I've had my iPod 5th gen for around 2 years now and have not had any problems with it up until now. My iPod was working fine when I used it during the morning, I then switched it off and locked it for the afternoon, when switching it off there was around half charge left(not even in 'red' battery yet).
When attempting to listen again during the evening the iPod would not turn on. The screen remains blank whatever I try, no sad face/battery icon etc. There is no sound coming out. I unlocked the lock button, tried pressing just the play/pause button, tried play/pause and centre button and tried menu and centre button for 30 seconds. There is no obvious damage to the exterior including buttons, screen and charging socket. I have tried switching it on with headphones plugged in and out.
When arriving home I continued trying to solve the problem, discovering that the iPod will not respond to a charger, I have tried a docking station, a USB connector and a sync station. The screen remains blank and in the case of the docking station, the station does not recognise that an iPod has been connected. It is also not recognised by My Computer or iTunes when plugged in with the two different USB cables, tried in two different USB sockets.
No matter what I do, the iPod remains lifeless. No sound, no light. Can anyone help me?
Thank you in advance.

Mine is doing the same plus if I do charge it the ipod gets really, really hot to the touch.

  • Ipod won't  turn on/sync with computer?

i was listening to my ipod a couple days ago, with full charge...when skipping to a song, my ipod locked up, so i reset it. When that happened, all I got was the "Sad Face." I let it go for a couple days, and then again still got the same error message. When I tried synching it with the computer, it just kept saying "Do Not Disconnect," and nothing happened. I tried everything short of a complete Restore because i CANNOT get ipod Updater to recognize my ipod. As of right now, I'm stuck on always getting the folder with the exlamation point, and when connected it says "Do Not Disconnect" and clicks away, trying to access the hard drive. What can I do to get it to work? It shows up under "Device Manager" but not in itunes nor in My Computer/Explorer, even when Disk Mode is on.
    Thanks!

I had the same problem with my iPod, I tried everything except dropping it. I ended up taking it to my local Apple Store, talked to one of their geniuses, bought the Apple Care plan since the original warranty had expired and got a brand new replacement iPod! I would reccomend taking your iPod to your local Apple Store and have them look at it.

  • IPod won't turn on. Apple logo flashes, charged for 6+ hours

My iPod touch won't turn on at all. When I plug the charger into a wall, the apple logo just flashes on and off. When I hold the home and power button for a reset, a picture with the itunes symbol and charger comes up and thats it, it doesn't go past that and if I release the two buttons, it just goes back to flashing the logo. When I connect to the computer, it won't even charge and my computer won't detect the iPod. It's def not a dead battery considering so many people are having this issue. How do I fix it?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

  • My Ipod won't turn on and it's fully charged, what should I do?

I was listening to music on Pandora and all of a sudden my Ipod touch started flashing to the power off screen. At that point I tried powering off to reboot and the slide bar wasn't working very well. When I finally got it off I left it off for a few minutes and then tried to turn it back on. The first time I tried it wouldn't even turn on. The second time it froze on the opening apple screen. I tried again and this time it took me to the lock screen and it started flashing on and off. I tried turning it off again and letting it sit for awhile and the same things happened again. Now it will only turn on randomly.

the other day when iOS8 came out i downloaded it onto my 5th generation iPod, it has been working perfectly fine since, now today when i left it for a couple of hours, it turned itself off and now it won't turn back on. i have tried charging it but nothing is happening. it's not out of charge because the little battery usually comes up when its charging, but the screen is completely black and nothing is happening. i have tried turning it on by both buttons and it won't work. i don't know whats wrong with it. i haven't topped it or anything, so I'm assuming its the new download as it seems to be effecting other peoples devices as well. what should i do?

  • 1st Generation iPod Won't Turn On

I have a original 1st generation iPod.  Yes, the one with the scroll wheel and 5gb (wow!) drive.  It doesn't turn on though.  Originally, I suspected a loose connection from the battery to the logic board, but testing with my multimeter shows me the connection is fine.  The iPod doesn't turn on at all.  I tried plugging it into my computer's firewire port and pressing the menu and play/pause button to no avail.
I have a picture in this post of the iPod - all dead like a brick.  Do any of you have any suggestions?  I am at a brick wall right now and need to find some solution.  Or if any of you know where I can get the iPod repaired or get a cheap logic board replacement?  I can't spend too much though.
    Thanks.
