Ipod won't update on new computer!! please helppp

well i recently got a new computer and decided to move all the songs form the old computer over so i did. now i need to update my ipod and for some reason when the ipod is connected it seems to work .. but then the problem comes it says updating ipod do not disconnect and about 5 second later its already done updating except the ipod did not get updated and still has the old songs i had on it.. can anyone tell me how i can solve this problem? thanks

Try moving all of your files out of the main folder they're in... then dragging them into the iTunes library in iTunes itself.
Then when its done processing them all, try updating again.
they have to be in the library and (prolly) CHECKED for iTunes to sync them.

  • IPod won't work with new computer - please help

When I bought my iPod, I had it hooked up with Computer #1. That went with my ex-husband in the divorce, so I no longer have that computer.
I now have my parents' old computer, Computer #2. My dad has an iPod that was originally used with this computer, but none of his songs or libraries are on Computer #2 anymore. The iTunes library is totally empty. I tried hooking up my iPod, and it said that my iPod was already associated with another computer. So I authorized Computer #2 to play my iPod songs, and that didn't work either. I cannot deauthorize computer #1 since I don't have it anymore. ITunes would not let me deauthorize both computers, like it said you could do once a year.
I am at a loss for what to do. Thanks in advance.

  • IPod Won't Synch on New Computer

I just moved over to a new computer. Now when I try to synch my iPod with iTunes I get the following message "Attempting to copy to the disk "XXX iPod" failed. The disk is locked and cannot be written to." Is this because the iPod is not recognizing the new computer as its "home computer?" Do I need to restore the factory settings in order for the iPod to recognize the new computer as its "home computer?" Will this then allow the iPod to automatically synch again every time I connect the iPod? Any help would really be appreciated!

Hi hey how were able to put it on a new computer because that is what I am trying to do and cant get any help from apple because my warranty has expired..maybe together we can figure this out..thanks Vickie

  • IPod won't work on new computer - any suggestions?

I recently got a new computer (Sony Vaio) with Windows 7. I copied all my music to my new laptop okay, but when I plug in my iPod mini to the laptop, I get a blue screen of error messages. I've tried updating iTunes and everything, but still get that same blue screen.
I didn't know if the iPod mini is so old that it isn't compatible with Windows 7 or what? Any suggestions? Other than buy a new iPod - haha

  • 3G iPod won't recognize on new computer

I own a third generation iPod classic, and I recently got a "new" (as in, new to me, new system 10.4.11, 2001 hardware) powerbook computer. My iPod will not load onto the computer; when I have tried to connect it, after a long while a box opens saying simply that the device is not formatted for this drive. When given the option to format, I decline, as it would erase all my music. At the moment, I cannot connect my iPod to computer at all! I'm wondering if there are any downloads/drivers/other versions of iTunes I can find that will allow me to connect to my iPod. I do believe this should be possible if I can only figure out how... I know the iPod has old software, but it did connect on my last powerbook, with only a minimally older version of iTunes. Please advise?

  • Ipod won't update, says my computer isn't authorized to play my itunes song

I just purchased an album and several individual songs thru itunes. But, when I connected my iPod, it said "updating" then it said something like "unable to update some songs like (song name) because you are not authorized to play them on your computer." I purchased the songs thru iTunes using the same computer, so the message doesn't make any sense. It will update songs I downloaded from a CD, but will not update the songs I just spent $20 purchasing. By the way, this happens for both my shuffle and my nano. I've purchased and update music in the past without problems. This problem just started happening a few weeks ago. I've spent hours and hours running the updater software, etc, but to no avail.
Help!! Has anyone out there experienced this same problem?

Play the songs in iTunes, then update the iPod.

  • IPod Won't Update with New Playlists and Audio Only

My iPod will not update new playlists that have been created or add any audio files from iTunes. Videos come over just fine. Powerbook 12" G4 with 10.4.4, iTunes 6.0.2. Latest iPod software, 0106, deleted the old iPod updates. Also, did a hard reset on the iPod.
Under my administrator test login, playlists and songs come over fine, but I can't seem to get it to work in my regular account. Any idea what do do without reformatting my hard drive and reloading software?

I also just started having this trouble on my 6 month old nano. I have it set to automatically update selected playlists only. I update the songs in those playlists in itunes, then I connect my ipod to my PC. The ipod and itunes say it is updating, but when done the same old songs are on the playlists in the ipod. Itunes does show the correct playlists with the update songs, they just don't seem be updating on the ipod, even though there seems to be a good connection and the ipod says it is updating when plugged into the PC. Any thoughts?

  • After installing itunes 7, my ipod won't update with my computer!!  Help?

Someone help!! I installed itunes 7 and now every time i plug in my ipod itunes tells me it's updating my ipod, do not disconnect...but it isn't doing anything !!! any ideas??

    Here's what you do... WAIT....
I'm not kidding. I was forced to upgrade to iT7
because of new iPod and now it takes over 11 hours to
sync my iPod. (I have a 55GB library, the bigger, the
longer it takes to even recognize the library).
Check your CPU usage (ctrl-alt-del then go to
Performance tab) and you'll see why things aren't
moving. iT 7 and iPod take up ALL the resources.
If you don't have a newer iPod which requires iT7, go
back to iT6 and everything will be fixed.
Wish i could be more helpful, but the Apple store I
went to simply said "NOT MY PROBLEM" so I'm passing
along their sentiments of superior customer
    experience.
Are U serious??!! The apple store wouldn't even help !?! That ***!! I only have about 26GiGs of music,IT6 took just a few min. to update....i should have never updated to it7...:(

  • IPod Won't Update - Is iTunes 7 to blame?

I started having problems with my iPod's playback - skipping songs in a playlist and skipping to the next track before the end of the song - I then tried to add songs (and update calenders etc.) using iTunes 7 (having only just downloaded it) and then everything stopped working.
The iPod registered on the computer and in iTunes - the contents of the iPod appeared in ITunes too, but it refused to accept new songs - when I tried to add songs, iTunes said it was updating, but it froze on the second song and iTunes then crashed.
I have restored the iPod and reinstalled iTunes 7, but neither of them work - the iPod won't update and iTunes constantly crashes (particularly when playing and pausing songs). I tried downgrading to iTunes 6.0.5 - which works fine - but the iPod still would not update.
Are these problems due to iTunes 7 being rubbish or do I have a broken iPod?? Is there anything I can try??
I have also just realised my mistake in putting this question in the Fifth Generation iPod forum, as I don't have one. Apologies for that - I have an iPod with click wheel but I don't seem to be able to move the question!

    hi Jim!
Plug in my iPOD, and it says its updating, and I can see the new music on the iPOD from iTunes, but its NOT ON MY IPOD when I unplug and try and play.
sounds like a drive letter confusion on your PC. see:

  • Playsists selected for syncing no longer exist? ipod won't update

My new ipod won't update because it says that playlists I've selected for syncing no longer exist. For this reason I can't get any of my music onto my ipod and I don't understand what I am supposed to do to fix this
    dell inspiron   Windows XP

Hi guys, I've been having the same problem. Specifically, when I try to transfer songs from iTunes to my iPod I get the following error message: "Songs in the iPod "My iPod" cannot be updated because all the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist". I did some searching around at this site, and found that one possible problem is that my library is larger than my iPod's capacity, so I have to eliminate some songs. I did this, but I still get the same error message.

  • How do I transfer my music and apps from my ipod touch 4g to a new computer?

The hard drive on my old computer failed so I no longer have access to my itunes library that was saved onto that computer. Is there anyway I can transfer my music and apps to my new computer? I would prefer not using one of those shady online tools... I don't want to lose any of my music or apps since I have some paid ones on there. I'm afraid that if I connect it to the new computer then everything will be lost. If that happens the I'll never be able to get any of my music and apps back (or at least it'll be real difficult). Can anyone please please please help me?
How do I transfer my music and apps from my ipod touch 4g to a new computer?

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like discusssed here:
    new PC: Apple Support Communities
    - Try to make a backup of the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Backup
    - Restore the iPod from backup and sync as necessary.

  • Can't upload iPod Classic contents onto a new computer

The PC that I had paired with my iPod Classic died.  I can't figure out how to upload the iPod's contents onto a new computer.  Is this possible?
I also put a new CD on my Mac that won't sync with the iPod Classic.
    What am I doing wrong?

I think the problem could lie with the sharing of the iTunes account. In itunes on your computer, under "Store", click "Authorize this computer" and login it using your brothers itunes account. Now try syncing the Ipod again and doing a FACTORY RESTORE of it
