Ipod won't upload

Sorry, I'm a newbie at this. Here's what happened: I uploaded my ipod for the first time - it worked wonderfully. I then started downloading some new music and making playlists and what not. This week I decided to delete a couple of playlists and upload some new music. I then went to upload my ipod and it would not work. The error message I get is "Songs on the iPod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist". What on earth does that mean? I've tried looking for an area where I can select the playlists but to no avail. What is really frustrating is that I went to the iPod FAQs prior to this to find out if I could delete playlists and the answer was yes that it would be fine.
I've tried everything! The 5 R's - with the exception of the last Restore because iTunes won't even recognize my ipod now. The ipod comes up under Devices but the screen is the iTunes & iPod screen. My iPod is now blank - I can't even listen to the music that was on there in the first place because it's been wiped out!
Can someone please help?!?

This does not work. iTunes recognizes that the iPod is plugged and it appears in the left column under devices but I have no access to it, the Apple iTunes screen is displayed on the right. I can't even get to options under the top toolbar. I'm getting pretty frustrated but can't think of anything else to try, please Help!

  • IPod won't upload all my songs!!! HELP!

Basically my iPod mini is not updating my songs. I have tried using the 5 Rs and when uploading it stops about 1/5 of the way through and won't add anymore songs. When this occurs a window pops up saying, "Attempting to copy the disk 'IPOD' failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)." If you have any ideas to help me, please let me know!!! THANKS

  • 2gig Ipod won't upload new songs

Accidentally washed Nano the other day. Everything works besides Syncing and Uploading new songs. Any ideas would help. Computer/Itunes won't recognize Nano during initial startup. Itunes works 100%.

How long did you let it dry? If it wasn't 5-7 days it still may have some moisture in it and if you attempted to charge it there may have been some battery/logic board damage.

  • Some of my Movies and video podcasts won't upload to my ipod touch

I've been uploading my dvd collection on to my computer through a handy application called handbreak, the main reason for this was so I could watch it on my ipod touch on its beautiful display, but the problem is that it won't upload because the video says the ipod won't support it. I checked the format, mp4 which works in itunes fine, then I checked the size of each and they were quite big since I set the encoding to normal but It should upload even if it's a little big. Another problem is with my video podcasts, some of their HD content won't transfer over, this majority blows because I don't want to compress every single episode. Why is it not working?, and could their be a solution to this besides compressing each file in quicktime pro?

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Right click on the video (or select multiple videos and right click) and choose "Convert Selection for iPod/iPhone".

  • IPod won't sync to iTunes - Please help! Tried everything

My iPod won't sync to iTunes. I pug it into the computer, the computer recognizes the device. It automatically opens iTunes once it's plugged in. I was able to system restore via iTunes when the iPod was connected and it wiped the iPod. But when I hit sync it doesn't sync. When I hit the sync button for about 5 seconds the wheel will rotate on the iPod screen and say "syncing" but nothing happens on the iTunes side, (you know normally when your iPod is syncing at the top of the iTunes window it will say "syncing" and you can see the process happening as it quickly runs through the new music it is uploading, this doesn't happen.) I tried restarting the iPod and the computer, system reset, I checked in the control panel to make sure the apple device was started, (which it was,) and even bought a new sync cord to be sure. Nothing. Any ideas?

I was running into the same/similar problem. Is this a new computer but old ipod?  In other words, does your ipod contain music from a previous pc?  If so, that might be the problem.  I bought a new pc and adequately transferred my music from old pc to new pc.  My itunes library on new pc was where I wanted it to be.  But when I tried to sync my ipod later, it wouldn't sync.  Would stop at first step like yours was doing.
If this is the case with you, open your ipod information on itunes.  It will automatically be on "Summary".  Click on "Music".  You will see a box labeled "Sync Music".  Click on that box.  Then you have the option of checking "Entire Music Library" or "Selected playlists.....".  I chose entire library.  When you sync, it will warn you that you will be erasing contents of ipod and replacing with contents of this itunes library.  Like I said, my library was good.  So I chose ok.  It synced fine after that.

  • Ipod won't work or update

I was trying to upload my itunes files onto my video ipod which I got in January 2006 and left the room, came back later and the "Do not disconnect" screen was up on my ipod and itunes had stopped responding. I've tried shutting down the ipod, restarting my computer and using the ipod updater but nothing happens. It's still staying on the "Do not dsiconnect" screen and when I start up itunes my ipod won't even register as connected. What do I do?

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.
    Still no joy, see these.

  • Videos wonät upload into iTunes

I've tried everything, videos just won't upload into iTunes,so I can't get them into my iPod,either! Is there some special trick into doing it?
I've tried dragging it to the Videos, adding it to the Library, dragging it to the Library, adding it to Videos, voodoo,wizadry,curses... everything! It just won't do it. Where's the problem?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Videos must be compatible with Quicktime to be able to be played in iTunes.
Try opening Quicktime and then open one of the videos you want to add to iTunes in Quicktime. See if it plays in Quicktime?
What is the file type of the videos you are trying to add (MOV, WMV, etc.)?

  • Some files won't upload; Others will

I'm having problems uploading certain mp3 files to my iPod mini.
In general, the mini seems to be working just fine but there are some files that have been part of my library for several years that won't upload. The same files will open and play properly on iTunes and other software.
These files were originally loaded and currently reside on an external HD as mp3 files. When I do a "GET INFO" they come up as MPEG Movies. If I add the .mps extension to the end of the file name and do a "GET INFO" they come up as mp3 files but still wont load into my iPOD mini.
I can do a "convert to mp3" in iTunes and the newly converted mp3s will work properly (that is they will upload to the mini.) This is a possible solution however, I have in the neighborhood of 2500 albums in mp3 format and it appears that about a third of them fall into the catagory described above. It's taken years to convert my entire music collection and I'd like to avoid having to do it again
Any ideas about what might be going on.
    I'm using a G4 MAC with OSX

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You may need to convert them all. Just highlight the songs and then convert them. (Highlight the affected songs and hold your mouse down over one. The menu should pop up and you can go to convert selection.) It should be a one time thing.

  • Playsists selected for syncing no longer exist? ipod won't update

My new ipod won't update because it says that playlists I've selected for syncing no longer exist. For this reason I can't get any of my music onto my ipod and I don't understand what I am supposed to do to fix this
    dell inspiron   Windows XP

Hi guys, I've been having the same problem. Specifically, when I try to transfer songs from iTunes to my iPod I get the following error message: "Songs in the iPod "My iPod" cannot be updated because all the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist". I did some searching around at this site, and found that one possible problem is that my library is larger than my iPod's capacity, so I have to eliminate some songs. I did this, but I still get the same error message.

iTunes never displays the iPod in the left pane?
iTunes is shipped with a "helper application" called the "iPod Service" that runs and is used by iTunes to communicate with the iPod device. This service may be disabled.
If your system is Microsoft Windows XP and you are logged in as an Administrator:
    1. Quit iTunes and, if your iPod is currently connected to your computer, safely remove it using the system tray application to manage removable devices.
    2. Right click on "My Computer"
    3. Select "Manage"
    4. In the "Computer Management" window, left pane (tree view), follow this path:
    +Computer Management (local) > Services and Applications > Services+.
    5. In the right pane, scroll down to "iPod Service" and double click it.
    6. If the service is listed as "Disabled" and "Stopped," change to "Manual" and "Start" it. ("Manual" will cause it to start when iTunes starts and "Start" starts the service right now.)
    7. Close "Computer Management"
    8. Restart iTunes and wait for it to completely come up.
    9. Reconnect your iPod.
Does your iPod show up in iTunes?

You said you updated yur 1G iPod to 4.2.1. A 1G can only go to 3.1.3 and thus you must have jailbroken it to get to 4.2.1 and that can cause problems.

I restored to factory defaults and still cannot dl and open apps. Any way to diagnose this problem? Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
