Hello everybody.
Well I've had my 30 GB Ipod since July 2007, got it as gift. Have kept it in GREAT condition too! I still even have the plastic on the screen. I treat it like if it was my child but this week though a problem has occurred. When i go to plug my Ipod in to get new music the Itunes library wont read it. A message also comes up saying that the device has malfunctioned. Just last week it wasn't saying this and worked perfectly. Its still able to charge though and I'm still able to listen to music on it, Just wont be read by Itunes. It constantly says that the Ipod is charging too. Convincing me that it has to do something with the USB port. Ive tried multiple USB cords too. Any suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Among other things, the cable might have been pulled before the on screen warning says it's okay.
1. Put the cable in USB port of your computer and start iTunes.
2. After sync, unclick "Enable Disk Use"; it should stop charging.
3. You may have to reload your music, if the iPod's directory is damaged.
Also, make sure you have the latest firmware and software updates.

I got my iPod classic around December 2005, everything was fine until a few days ago, Christmas day to be exact. I had transferred my music to an external hard drive so as not to take up so much space on my laptop. I plugged in my hard drive, after not using it for a month or so, opened iTunes and 3/4 of my songs had that little next to them and the files could not be found. I plugged my iPod into the computer and it just came up with the red circle with the line through it and said "Do not disconnect" it won't sync anything and will only go back to a normal screen when I eject it. It does this on my desktop computer as well. Aslp the battery always says it's charged, I never know when I need to charge it until it dies. I plug it in to charge it and the battery icon always has the lightning bolt, but the battery gauge always says it's full. I had 500 songs and, I only about 100 with out the little next to it. Am I SOL or can this be fixed?

Don't worry a lot of people, including me, are having this problem. I think it's a problem going on at Apple's end, hopefully it will be up soon.

Thanks for the question. If you haven't already done so, you may want to update iTunes to v11.1 (released on Sept 18th). After updating iTunes, you can then update your iPhone 5 to iOS 7.

Your other music shows under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your Mac's iTunes, and in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone - if they do then are you signed in with the same account or is that album hidden (hiding and unhiding) ? Is the laptop the computer that you normally sync the phone to (e.g. could you sync it), and could you copy the album from the laptop to your Mac Mini e.g. via file sharing, a flash drive etc (copying music)

ITunesSetup says some install files are corrupt, iPod wont be read by pc..

My ipod and itune were working fine earlier today and before, but whenever i try to update to the latest verion the install says some install files are corrupt, and now my itunes suddenly no longer reads my ipod... This is like the 20th time this ipod not being read by pc problem has occurred and it's really making me never trust apple with pcs again.

1. Is it safe to delete the corrupted files in /var/log? I already deleted viminfo after it got corrupted the first time, but it happened again.
2. In the rescue cd, fsck quickly said "it's ok" without checking. Is there a way to force it to check? The man page doesn't say. The longer check I get sometimes when booting ("hasn't been checked in the last X mounts yadda yadda") shows only "fixed write time in the future" from time to time.
3. The Xorg.0.log particularly gets corrupted after the hard restart that I issue when X fails to start and a black screen locks up the pc.
4. xf86-video-ati is 6.12.2-2, kernel26 is 2.6.30.4-1. xorg-server: 1.6.3-2. The black screen issue will be (I hope) solved in the other thread I made (link in first post), but I have the suspicion that both problems are very closely related (one is the cause for the other, or some sort of vicious circle.)

My iPod wont sync to my iTunes.

It'll say it's syncing but then it'll stop and say "Error -1303" or something along those lines and I've tried restoring it and resetting it numerous times but it still doesn't work. I've alsop tried manually adding songs but it still will only let me go so far before saying some sort of error with my iPod. My iPod started acting weird a while ago so I did the select button and menu button reset and then it deleted everything off of it and since then I've restored it a lot of times and stuff but it still wont sync. It's an iPod classic 80gb. My iTunes is also up to date and the software on the iPod is as well.

You can follow this guide to transfer the music and video from iPod classic back to computer, and then manually add the files into your iTunes to combine with the new iTunes library, and then re-sync your iPod. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

ive got a fifth generation video ipod, and i think ive got itunes 6.0.1 or something of the sort, and whenever i hook it up to my computer via usb, the ipod displays the "do not disconnect" symbol but wont show up on itunes.
