Ipod wont boot/reset/shutdown

Hi!
3 days ago i discovered that my ipod wouldnt boot. I tried everything, Menu+Select for 1min, recharging the reset, connecting to my computer, connecting to recharger, and nothing. It seems dead, because the display does not show anything and it does not respond at all.
The only thing i can hear from the ipod is this ticking sound(not from the headphones) that's annoying me now for 3whole days. tick, tick, tick, tick and so on from the bottom connector.
I have researched the internal pcb of the ipod video and realized that it might be the DC-DC converter that seems to loop the hole time through it's capacitors or small inductors. The other theory is that the hard-drive thats trying to boot, but that seems not likely. Because then the battery would have drained out already by the first day of "ticking"
So please, is there someone that knows how to reset a ipod video 5.5G 30Gb completely, my patience is dying right here and it seems that i will hear this ticking for a whole week or more (I fully recharged it before the ticking noise)

me too had the same problem... i just bought my ipod video 80gb for 3 months and use it occasionally. Yesterday i was listening to my ipod, songs just started skipping and at the end, the song just got stucked at the playing menu with timed minutes and artist display. all i can get is the ticking sound of the controller. when i connect it to my itune, it just say it was corrupted and cant restore. think i need some professional help here, thanks

  • Ipod Wont stop Resetting

I think I wrongly disconnected my new 60Gb Gen 5. It wont stop resetting itself every 5 seconds, I tried many times resetting it by pressing Menu, center button for a few secs. Please help! I did try reinstalling Itunes as well, it wont recognize the never-stop resetting Ipod.

Sounds like the ipods software got corrupt. Reset it and TRY to set it into "Disk Mode" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
Since its reseting itself over and over it might be alittle hard, but just wait til you see the unlighted apple logo and QUICKLY hit and hold Center and play/pause like the link I've posted says.
If you get it in disk mode, you need to restore it with ipod updater 06-28-2006. If you do not have this ipod updater it can be downloaded here http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
Restore will wipe the ipod clean, and they suggest anything thats not on the PC you try to get off the ipod and onto the PC before restoring. Being the ipod is resetting over and over I doubt you can get anything off it, Put if you want to try post back BEFORE restoring the ipod

  • IPod wont boot up

I have an 80gb ipod video and I just tried to install rockbox on it and now it won't boot up... This really *****... help!!

By boot up, I take this to mean that it (your iPod) doesn't mount on your computer like an external drive would when you plug it in. Assuming this is the case, I have had a similar problem and found a fix (which worked for me). After connecting your iPod to your computer, your iPod should (if your problem is like mine) read "do not disconnect".
At this point, when nothing happens on your computer, hold down the center circle and the top button (menu) down at the same and keep it depressed until you see the silver apple appear. This action resets your iPod; FYI- this doesn't affect or erase your files on the iPod in anyway, it's like restarting your computer. After you do this, your computer should (hopefully) now see your iPod and you should be up and running as normal.
I was relieved to find a workaround but have to do this every single time I want the iPod to mount, which is a bit of a bummer. I REALLY hope this solves your problem!

  • TS1363 ipod wont boot and is stuck at the apple screen

i have a 4th gen ipod touch 32g with 5.1.1 iOS one day i was installing an application and the ipod freezes so i decide to reboot it when i turn it back on it did the normal routine and go to the little apple screen that pops up but thats all the ipod would do is just show the apple screen so i reboot it over and over again and its still stuck. so next i let the battery run out and see if that would help.... it didnt, next i pluged it up to iTunes and it wont even show the device so this now is my last resort please help.

  • HELP!!!! iPod wont stop resetting!!!

So today I went somewhere with my family and my iPod died out on me. When I resetted it while in the car, it showed a picture of a little sad iPod with "x's" for the eyes and an exclamation mark next to it. I thought by simply recharging it, the problem would be solved. When I got home and I recharged it for a bout twenty minutes on an iHome dock, I pulled it off the charger. Then it just started resetting itself over and over and over again until the battery died. I plugged it in my computer and a screen showed up on the iPod that said, "Please wait. Very low battery." It has a little wheel type thing that is moving which means it's not frozen. But it's been on 'low battery' for the past 7 hours when it only takes an iPod to be fully charged in 4 hours. When I unplugged it from the USB, it started to continuously reset again without me holding down the required buttons. HELP ANYONE?!?

I was reading that article earlier in the evening. However, it didn't really help much. I think I probably just need to take it in to the Apples store or something to get it checked out.

  • IPod wont boot

Well, whenever I try to turn on my iPod it goes to the white screen saying
    Connect to your computer.
    Use iTunes to restore.
So I connect it to my computer but my computer and iTunes don't recognize it except in Safely Remove Hardware. So I've put it into diagnostic mode and tested it and goes fine until it gets to
    Accessorize Test
    Please Plug FW
    LCD ID : 4
    FWPWR : 0
Then it just stays there and does nothing.
I've tried rebooting, putting it into disk mode, nothing.
    I hope someone can help.

If you can't restore it using iTunes, which seems to be the case, you might want to give a try to CopyTrans Doctor http://www.copytrans.net/doctor.php

    Hi Novagurl2369!
I have an article for you that can provide some helpful troubleshooting steps to address your issue:
    No sound through stereo headset1
Inspect the headset jack for debris and clean if necessary.
Connect the headset and make sure the connector is pushed in all the way.
Check the volume setting. Adjust the volume by pressing the volume up and down button on the left side of the iPhone.
If you are trying to listen to music and cannot hear any audio, make sure that the music on iPhone is not paused. Try squeezing the headset microphone to resume playback. Additionally, from the Home screen you can choose iPod > Now Playing, then tap Play.
Make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed on the computer that you are syncing the iPhone with (songs purchased from the iTunes Store using earlier versions of iTunes won't play).
Try another Apple headset (some third-party headsets require an adapter to be used with original iPhone).
Try a different song or video.
Check to see if the iPhone alert sounds or other iPhone sound effects exhibit the same audio issues.
Disconnect the headset from the iPhone and see if sound comes from the built-in speaker.

  • I have the iPod 5th gen. and my iPod wont connect to my wifi. I've tried everything. I reset my wifi networks and it still wont work. What do i do???

I have the iPod 5th gen. and my iPod wont connect to my wifi. I've tried everything. i rest my wifi networks and it still wont work. What do I do??

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

For the future, saying you tried everything provides use with zero info as to what you did try. If you really tried everything then there is no way we could help

  • Strange message on ipod - Wont reset????????

I got an message on the ipod with video. It says "accesorize test plug FW" and a bunch of letters.
Anyone know what this is? My ipod wont reset either???
    cheers

It seems as if you have accidentally entered the iPod diagnostic mode. A reset is the usual way to exit that. It may take quite a few attempts and is best done connected to power. If not then you may have to restore it.
